I've only been watching for the last two years so am a little patchy on the history.

Last time it was CF and TW, most players came from Lower Hutt as thats where coach Lloyd O'Keefe was based - they won the league that year. 

As Declan's \ Ole's not involved they probably won't provide any players like they did last time it was CF running it

apart from that it's probably up to the players if they want to trial or not

Question about the Cup and eligibility:

We're in the Executive Plate semi-final. My goalkeeper suffered a fairly serious injury and is unavailable for the last league game, cup semi and potentially cup final, should we make it. Our 1st team keeper can't drop down (understandably) as she is cup-tied to the 1sts (played Kelly Cup). Our 3rd team keeper can't come up as she is cup tied to the 3rds (Executive Plate). 

Do I have any way to get a goalkeeper under the regulations or do I just have to chuck an outfield player in goal? Seems like a rather unfair outcome where the normal rules around cup-tying don't work as they are supposed to due to multiple teams from the same club playing in the same cup.

Suggest you ring capital football on this one, rather than leaving it to chance.

On Line Team Sheets:

It is the decision of Capital Football Advisory groups that in 2019 the on line team sheets will be rolled out in Capital 1 & 2 as well as Women’s Premier. Capital Football will be holding work shops on how this is done.

Assume this means women's prem moves to non-rolling subs, since not sure how you record rolling subs in comet?

I for one like the idea of online team sheets. Also, sure hope they build an automatic function to ensure regrading is done according to the rules.

They're a mixed bag for officials. Good to no longer have to rely on crossed out teamsheets handed in late. Filling out the online sheets on a phone sucks, so tend to wait till later to complete. (Processing pre-kickoff lineup changes after teams locked out is never fun on a phone)

This was passed on to the referees with the remind to use our cards if we hear the language.

Dear Clubs,

We have reached the half way point in the season for many teams and I wanted to take the opportunity to send out an email to check in with everyone.

There have been some great things happening in and around clubs, the Central League title race is very tight, the Women’s teams had a great Kelly Cup competition to start the season off, and the number of juniors playing each weekend is very pleasing to see.

Other notable highlights include the run of fantastic weather we have enjoyed until just recently, Stop Out Sports Club celebrating their 100th anniversary at Queens Birthday and Waterside Karori their 125th anniversary in May, great achievements for both clubs.

Unfortunately though the same old issue of behaviour remains the blight on our game.

This is not limited to one area of the game, rather spans juniors, seniors, coaches and supporters.

On a Monday morning we are flooded with reports from the previous weekend and this can take as much as three days to wade through – we just get them sorted in time for the next weekend to roll around again.

We recently received this from a referee – I will not mention the clubs involved as this is not limited just to these two clubs:

Just wanted to raise an observation from this game in the weekend.

After the match the referee team walked into the clubrooms to enter the changing room when the ball kids entered to hand back their jackets.

We asked them if they enjoyed the football which all the kids responded with yes but there was lots of swearing from the players and technical staff.

I just want to highlight this to you and if you could forward to the relevant people at CF please as this isn’t a good look and will turn young kids away from not only being ball kids in the future but also away from the game.

I have also spoken to club administrators who say they are struggling to get ball kids for games as parents are just not willing to allow their children to be exposed to this.

While Capital Football can, and do, deal with these issues on a weekly basis, this cannot just be Capital Footballs responsibility, rather the responsibility of all clubs to ensure the message of zero tolerance to this type of behaviour is communicated to everyone involved in the game.

We will be instructing referees to take a very hard line on this in games that they oversee, but request that clubs also take this opportunity to reinforce with their members, coaches and players that we are all passionate about the game, but that bad behaviour is having a very negative impact on our sport.

I am looking forward to a less fraught second half of the season.

See that next year its going to be a requirement of all Central League, W League and Cap Prem Head coaches to have their OFC/NZF C license at a cost of $1,190 +GST . What happens if the coaches dont have? Clubs can't enter into the mentioned leagues?

Relevant in this thread as an answer to the question of outcomes for clubs that don't have the required certs. Points getting docked, pretty big incentive to get on the courses.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I was told by somebody from a smaller club yesterday, that they've been informed that they cannot enter one of their best performing junior teams in the top grade next year, as the club does not have any academy structure.

Is there some truth to this? Seems absurd.

That's what's happened in Chch this year and last. Only clubs with academies, with most charging around $900 per kid per year, are allowed in the premier league.

Meanwhile, here in 1968 they could only find 4 sides prepared to opt for U15 A-div, and therefore stuck everyone's in the same div tell mid season.

First 7 games my standard results text was " ...won by 7+ goals" which I often as not could send at half time.

You were lucky having a text machine in 1968 - where I lived we only had a telephone that hung on the wall

Ridiculous if you ask me, this clubs team came third in the division last season so are more than capable of footing against these "academy" teams. Now kids from a smaller club, who are potentially more talented than those from larger clubs, risk getting overlooked. It's also going to kill community clubs in the region as if the kids are serious about football, they'll pack up and go to a club with an academy. Sad days indeed.

interesting that capital football are introducing social summer leagues this year, what is this in response to... demand? revenue? fear of players joining other competitions? 

Clubs must surely be starting to push back on increase in affiliation fees every year what are the 2000 odd social football players getting back? No referees, split leagues, games at rubbish times resulting in no bar revenue for clubs, happy valley every other week. 

I don't know how any club without junior academy revenue and relying on the social or community aspects of the football club are meant to survive with capital footballs business model. 

Better Football, Twilight and Sunday League are all streets ahead of what Capital Football can offer social footballers, at a lower cost. Its a no brainer.

why the angst about someone (CF) providing a (summer) offering to footballers? It's a good thing in'it?

sorry no angst at the offering of summer football in general, just wondering why now? and subsequently what is this in response to, have the clubs asked for a summer offering?

Angst at Capital Football is what established club is going to sink first without a academy to prop up the club if there are no semi-social footballers to pay subs that increase every year. 

Seems like Sportzone is clearly putting a dent in Capital Footballs coffers. Winter Sunday League has 6 divisions this year and the summer league will have 3 divisions. 11 a side games, on a turf every week, with a referee and the fees are almost half. As above for social footballers it is a no brainer.

turfs make it possible for one. 

And yes I believe a recent survey did identify an appetite for it (not that it translates to teams actually signing up).  Staff are still working, there is no need for an NZF affiliation fee for it if the team played in winter, and it can align with club offerings (end of season championship). 

And I think some of the stats about CF team drop offs are incorrect - I don't think there has been much of a change - just more teams joining Masters.

We have an ageing player base! If i'm elected, I promise to raise the master's age to 37 ;)! 

Please don't do that, I have two more years until Masters and the rate my body is falling apart I will definitely need it!

If anything, the Masters age needs to be lowered.

I'm one year younger than that, and I already feel like my body is completely broken at end of the season haha. 

For someone who's played his very first season of Masters football (division 1), I was pleasantly surprised by it. Pretty good teams, good spirit and a slower pace - should've made the switch in my mid-twenties!!! :)

I wish there were a "Mistress's" grade up here, I can't keep up with these 15 year old wonder girls, even from the goal.
