Spirit? Pretty much here at the moment that's all we've got going for us in the eastern suburbs. You'll see what I mean when we play Cavvy.

There was a Coastal Spirit Hat on display in the stands at Newtown Park at the Chatham Cup game on Saturday- an omen?

How is Phil? He was the stats man for the club, moved to Wellington at Labour weekend. Loves his footy. He is the Wellington branch of the Coastal Spirit Football Club.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

He's living in either Island Bay or Karori I think.
Also key player in our Presidents B team, so you might want to get out the cheque book. May have to go to the Hutt!

Wonder what odds you could get on Waitemata turning Olympic over?

Three for me, and two for them.

Mate, you'll be easy to spot after the game, you'll be the one with egg on his face . Where is Dunedin anyway?

Are you a west Ham fan Ronaldo?

Not yet, why do you ask?
I'd guess Leyton Orient based on the quality of Ronaldknow's above contributions...

Southern football has offered so much in the past 5 or 6 years and acheived what? No Chatham Cup glory, no All Whites and certainly obsolutely nothing in the NZFC. If Christchurch teams were to put their top 30 players in two teams, we would have more luck in national club competitions. So good on ya if you think that Cavy v Coastal is a fair representation of Southern v Mainland football, but at the end of the day what will/have you really acheived.

do the top teams from the fed comps play off against each other?

there is a dude in my team who used to be a big player in Dunners footy - but all he can do is head the ball (and sometimes his team mates)

You are right about the cup Cavvy an Tech have had many chances over the last 5 years to go on and do it but choked at the final hurlde but I think if you look at the Caversham team nearly all there players come throught there reserve team from a young age except maybe one local player that came from Roslyn and the 3 players that come down for university from Chch they are friends and wanted to play for the same club?I could be wrong let me know

As for Tech n Roslyn im not sure.

Is the Regional Football Chatham Cup Forum?

Fair enough Cavvy in particlar probably should have done better in the cup, they threw it away last year, but the point is what have Chch teams done in the Cup in the last 5 years, Have they even made a semi in that time? I can't even rember the last time they made a Quarter Final.

If the SPL is so inferior to Mainland why do our teams to better and players from the SPL (Wild, Overton, Schwarz, Dugdale...) play for Canterbury Utd.

Can't talk for Tech, but the majoirty of the Roslyn side played Jnr football at the club and have a few students as well. Although to be honest who really cares where they come from originally?
Did Chch Utd supporters care that Mike McGarry was from Mosgiel when he was winning Jack Batty and Cup winners medals?

Coastal will need to practice at Bexley for a few times to get use to the sort of pitches Dunedin teams give you to play on.
I have played down in Dunedin in summer and on good surfaces but never had one worth calling a football pitch in winter.

Haha jog on, caledonian in the middle of winter is a bowling green pal. Either way play on any pitch, put they game on carisbrook and watch cavy knock up double figures

Yes agree about the Cally, have played on the Cally a few years ago and even the outside pitch if it's still there was a nice one to play on. What happened to Tonga Park or do you only put the teams that will outplay you on a good surface down there?
Thats was the venue the last time we had a Chatham Cup game in Dunedin.

Tonga got absolutely flooded by 3 days of constant rain about 7 or 8 weeks back. Training pitch and S3 got absolutely buggered, which forced training onto S1, which has taken its toll.

Possibly some truth in that poolmister. Tonga park has the longest grass of any pitch in Dunedin.

Wgtn united's home advantage have any validity over Rapa United?
Permalink Permalink

Wairarapa United didnt train last night, and not sure why. Maybe due to the fact that Phil has an issue with the training grounds being too rough, and maybe causing injuries. Not sure whether Midfeilder Mirek will be playing. They have resigned James Oxtoby from Maycenvale, but not sure if he can play? I know Maycenvale didnt enter the chatham cup but does it not go on previous club games played?
