Interesting that the game between Auckland FC Reserves and Melville United, which kicked off at 2pm is reported as finishing 1 - 1, no details of scoreline after extra time and or pens. Can anyone fill in the gaps?

Update: Looks like no more goals aet with Melville advancing 6 - 5 on pens, according to Tribe

I'd say whoever has a keeper nicknamed 'Big Mac' were the losers!
Hunch is it was Melville.

Eli Jones in goal for AFC Reserves.
Melville's GK is Max Toomey who scored in the 98th min of last year's Chatham Cup final.

Was actually a very good shoot out .Top quality pens from both sides. 6th penalty for Auckland rattled the crossbar. No saves.
Melville goalkeeper was outstanding whole game.
Auckland Fc supporters were taunting him during the shoot out and he did get injured part way through.
Melville played all extra time with 10 men. Jama Boss sent off late in normal time. Never really saw what happened but think it might have been violent conduct ?
No idea who any of the Auckland players were but little blond wide striker (might have been number 75 ) looked promising.
Good cup tie and finished under lights.
Good to see the Melville team giving it back to some of the Auckland Fc supporters after the conclusion of the shoot out. If you give it out you have to be prepared to take it.

Red card looked to be for some face-to-face/head-to-head contact Boss made with Semi Nabenu. There was nothing crazy, but he pushed in a couple times - I thought it might be a yellow each way, but I was a lot further away.

I thought Ralph Rutherford - who started and was the blonde wide forward in number 37 (if that's who you are thinking of) was quite dangerous. He, alongside Everton O'Leary and maybe Jake Woolford, was one of the available AFC players who has probably played the most at Northern League level, so would expect to be a stronger player in the team.

AFC certainly had the chances to win in 90 (all I stayed for) and Melville didn't trouble a lot, but you have to score to win.

Any idea when the draw for the next round is?

Isn’t it usually the Tuesday after the games?

Maybe they’ve pushed it back due to the public holiday

The draw is tomorrow.

I believe it’s the second working day after the weekend’s round of matches, which would make it Wednesday

This was my first time attending a game where the teams were in different leagues and it's kinda shocking just how large the gap is. From the people I talked to I knew that financially getting promoted was a big jump but seeing Mosgiel get smashed by the Royals was pretty eye opening.

Were there any cupsets this round?

Great draw for Stop Out and Palmy United.
Nice to have a guaranteed side from CL2 into the next round.

Next Round!

Gonna go to Northern vs Royals for this game. Based on what happened last round with Mosgiel I'm not gonna hold my breath for a cupset, but Northern are the best team in Dunedin outside of the Royals so if any team could do it'd be them.

Northern have a great Chatham Cup history - 8 finals and two wins - so it would be nice from a purely nostalgic bent to see them do well.
Have not been a force for over 60 years and had some tough times.
Best Chatham Cup record of any Dunedin side .

Good result for United.
Any idea why Tech took Bierema off at half time - had a look at the goals and none of them were really clangers from him? Tactical gk sub or injury related?

The club’s first team are in the United States, set to play at the FIFA Club World Cup, meaning the (Auckland City) U-23s will face Waiheke United in the third round fixture.

Could be a potential upset here given Waiheke are actually allowed to be at full strength for this fixture.

Three for me, and two for them.

Are the games being streamed anywhere? Nothing on fifa+

Miramar v Napier game on clubfootball.tv.   Superb picture.   Not so enamoured with the venue - people standing on the touchline.  Why at Martin Luckie??
Don't piss off old people - the older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent
