journeyfan - you neglected to comment on the UH keepers rugby tackle? This took place outside of the box after a ball was played in behind the Hutt defence and the attacker was a one on one with the keeper. United received a free kick but no cards were shown! Unbelievable no one ended up badly injured from this ...

On a side note: If she was to get a red, would she have to stand down in the mens game as that would be her first game back being on Saturday?

From my angle (I was behind the goal on the other side of where Yomcat took the above photos) it looked like a fair 50/50 ball and I think the keeper would have got the ball first had it been in the area, but when she realised it was outside the area she kept her arms down and threw herself headfirst at the ball (surprised she didn't kop a boot in the face) and obviously clattered into the Wellington United player. The keeper should have got a yellow card

No card for that tackle was one of the most amusing calls of the season yet, should have been a straight red. They also need to sort out the carding for swearing. In the past couple of rounds I've seen a card given for saying "that's not fair" and yet a straight "Fudge Off" at a player right next to the ref wasn't even blinked at. I'm all for carding that behavior but it's every time or never. Not just when they feel like it.

should of been a yellow for dangerous play for the keeper for putting her head in a dangerous position below the waste.

out of the box the keeper is a normal player not protected in any way as they are when inside there area.

If the goalkeeper committed a foul and is last person between the attacker and goal then it is a straight red card no matter what. Refering in women's football is a joke.

Not true.

It's so poor to think that refs should be void of any criticism, especially when it comes down to simple things like poor consistency. At the end of the day they're there to do a job (in often sharkty conditions admittedly) but teams and spectators are relying on them to do their best at it especially in what is supposed to be top level of football not a Sunday kick around.  

All refs do try their best. Do they make mistakes ? Of course they do. He'll even the very best do. Could they be better? Again of course they can and not a single ref I know does not strive to improve.

It is very easy to stand on the sidelines or sit behind a keyboard and bitch and moan.

I watched a good part of this game, missed the goal but had a very good view of the incident people are commenting about, the way I saw was the UH keeper headed the ball just before the WU player attempted to kick it, I believe once the UH keeper headed the ball it struck the WU players arm and then the 2 players collided.

I was at the game and saw it and this is pretty much how it was. 

Would like to say, since this seems to have become a referee slagging, that the ref was actually pretty good, in the first minute (before United scored) a Wellington United player made a pretty bad late tackle and took out a Upper Hutt player. The ref gave a foul (which he had to do) but then he pulled up the player and let her and the rest of the players know in no uncertain terms that he wouldn't tolerate that sort of play. I have seen games where the ref has let things like that go as it was in the first minute but it sets the tone for the whole game. The refs intervention here was well done, nothing over the top and what you would expect a ref to do

I was there and watched the whole game. Agreed, that on the whole he was a great ref, but that tackle deserved to be pulled up. There's no room for that kind of intentionally dangerous play. The keeper clearly shoulder charged the United player with a rugby tackle. As I've said, refs will make mistakes but to put them clear of any criticism is poor.

As I mentioned it's the consistency issues with things like the swearing that really annoy me. I say card it. But if players are going to get pulled up for it in one game then they need to be pulled up for it in every game.

Moving away for  ref discussion this game was really one of the best ones to showcase the league from what I've seen this season. It's a shame about the major difference between the teams in the bottom and the top of the table, but it's good to know that there's some really top quality games to be watching.

I hate this stupid argument, hear it from idiots in the social leagues all the time. If doesn't matter if you got the ball if it was dangerous, it was dangerous.

It is with regret I have to inform you that Valeron Wanderers have pulled their team out of the Women’s Central League today.

They have been hit with injuries and team members going overseas, and with no second team in the club do not have the numbers to sustain the squad for the rest of the season

So guess that rescues Massey from finishing last and getting dropped?

Massey's new striker would have probably managed that anyway...

Always heard negative stories about Craig from many of his past players. It was only a matter of time.

Feel bad for him though, always had good intentions and poured a lot of energy at the club.

Rip Valeron.  While I didn't have any time for craig it's a huge loss to lose the team and club.

This has probably been asked before, so apologies for being lazy and not looking for it (and the rules may have changed)

With Valeron Wanderers withdrawal do all their results get annulled? or do the rest of their results go down as 3-0 defaults?

Also what happens with relegation? - does it mean all teams are safe or is there still a playoff?

From the 2016 CL Regs

5.7. In the event of a team being withdrawn from this competition during any round, results, points and goal statistics will be adjusted as though the team concerned never existed. If a team withdraws from the CL, it will not be eligible to participate in the CL for a period of 3 years, regardless of the Club’s finishing position in its Federation League.

I am guessing that will mean no relegation but still a playoff for the spot ?

I think if you follow the regs they will have seven teams next year too. So basically someone will make something up
