Actually slight lie on my part - We had the three Irish lads in New Plymouth and our Striker in Aussie, and one player at the world cup. Damn stupid Rugby!

if you had three players pss off to a game of rugby then your team is a disgrace If you don't pay your players enough they will go - play another day.

Yes - my flatmate, CB in the first half. Said he almost Robert Green'd it first touch but things went smoothly from then on. Clean sheet, good effort.

Fuck this stupid game

Wakefield #2, howling southerly and rain, mud bath. United 1-0 up decided they wanted to keep trying to play football???? Wharf smarter and better in conditions - deserved their win.

probably a fair report that. game was a disgrace though, seriously wonder why the ref let the game go ahead. of course the losing team is going to complain though.

the game should not have gone ahead. But when it did we should have realised that hoofing it was the only way. Not too smart by our boys and we got a deserved spanking. Bugger. Oh well, off to the club do to drown the sorrows.

Marist 2 - Wests 1

WTF do you really say about a game played on Alex Moore 2 with the win and rain rushing straight down the field. One half of the pitch is ruined beyond belief, it was like watching 7 years old play. The teams didn't outplay each other the conditions did. I was told I did well in goal, but christ knows. The mud was probably the best player on the field. A disgrace to football

Well done to the young wests side, they were superb and wanted it more. The referee did well, Im glad he was being assessed as they now will know what level he should be reffing at. a hand ball on the line after the ball had passed a foot over the line off a corner at 4-4, wests countered and scored  a superbly taken goal a minute later. Guess thats football. Nuff said. horseshead212010-07-03 17:55:46

Jesus thats two massive results. Wests didn't drop a single player?

KCU 2 - Marist Zilch - ugh what a game. KCU deserved to win I guess, we hit the underside of the crossbar, and they scored 2 mins later to make it 1 nil. We just can not play on big pitches.

I conceded 2 goals near post, and still got player of the day. Guess that sums up how we played *le sigh*

Not quite true News. Tristan Pratley made his debut for Wests last week in the Alex Moore mudfest debacle against Marist and played again today. The only other addition to the ranks has been Ryan Cain who also played for the reserves last week to get some game time due having spent a fair bit of time on the bench for the firsts this season. He got a hat trick today and has made a massive difference up front. Apart from that the squad has more-or-less been the same all season as it was today.

What club are you refering to News?
Bad weekend for Naenae. Looks like they're going to need a miracle to stay up.

Wests.  Scholarship winner Tristan Prattley has appeared in Welly early for his stint at the Phoenix and is with Wests.  Believe he played yesterday.

Good weekend for the rest of the club, not so good for the firsts.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Didn't have much chance to show what he could do last week in the Alex Moore mudbath.  However, yesterday he was very classy, even on a heavy pitch, down at Karori Park.  He got physical when he needed to, was strong in the air and has a great touch.  Linked up well with Eddie Burnett on the left flank and bombed forward whenever the opportunity arose.  I suspect that he's keen to step up for the first team in the Central League as soon as possible and I don't think that will be long in coming (unfortunately for the reserves!)

so our scholar just stole points of my club. right - new vote..

was impressed by the Wests forwards especially the guy on the left who I guess must have been Ed. He gassed Soley easily. Wests used the wind well in the first half including that fine strike from 40 yards.
Our finishing was poor. Also the keeper did pretty well on the million corners we had in the second half. Was a pity we had the dude I have voted worst official for the past five years on the line at the time Roobs did his hand of god.

Birmingham lad.  Great skills but a bit gluey booted at times.

Went to watch the Marist v Stop Out match. What an awful awful pitch...??

Very taken by the Marist player in the second half, who unchallenged, fluffed his shot and then had a go at the linesman...  AS if the "lino" played some part in his poor technique... <shakes head>
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Can't comment on striker, was to far away rolling round in the mud.

However, as for the pitch. Some interesting tidbits have come to light. Kilbernie has basically been used most of this season as the local shuttle drill area for one and all Rugby teams. And the council has finally acted on this. So in Marist's defense - yes we know Kilbernie is bum, but your pitch would be too if you had 20 odd lumbering meat axes doing sprinting drills all over it four times a week for the last couple of months.

/end rant

This tends to be a trend ive noticed on shared/cross-code grounds. Even at college, our 1st XV would use the no.1 football field (next to their own no.1 ground) for training and ruin it. Even when we (footballers) had been explicitly told NOT to use it for training.

It really shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone though. We all know rugby players aren't the most intelligent. And it's probably the coach's way of trying to get back at football because he's paranoid that he'll have no players to train in 5 years because everybody will be playing the beautiful game.

Oh joy. I an hour(ish) I am off to watch the Capital Premier match between Stop Out and Wesern Suburbs. Tremendous...Stop Out are playing against a reserve team. How can it be that in our region's premier, that's what it's called, competition we can have reserve teams??????

I had the whole system, and its history, explained to me earlier and I am still lost....
