Wests 0, Upper Hutt 9 (i think)

Yep 9-0 it was, according to my friend who was (unfortunately) playing for Wests.

Any comment on the game AJ? Apparently Suburbs had to field the youth squad (which, considering the average age of the starting squad, is pretty youth) and they just got bossed the whole game?

West 1st team was away, so couldnt have the 3 subs playing I guess.  Not that 3 players should make a huge difference.

Yeah it was a very youthful squad, i think there were only 4 'older' players in the starting XI. I only saw the 2nd half (2-0 halftime) but Wests still had quite a few opportunities to score, and a couple which really shouldve been put away. UH keeper was doing some funny things. There was an own goal in there as well (header back to keeper who came off his line to collect). Wests had a late free kick smash the crossbar from about 30yards out. Andy Le Prou was dangerous throughout, scored from a sweet strike from distance glancing the underside of crossbar, shouldve had at least a couple more. UH missed a few one-on-ones, score line couldve been well and truly into double digits.

After last week's results; Upper Hutt 9, Wests 0 and Wgtn City 7, Wainui 1 - Upper Hutt vs Wgtn at Harcourt tomorrow could be a cracker.

Agricultural game, United 1-0 at HT, blantent penalty for UH, 1-1, injury time winner for UTD.
UTD had the better of the game, very much one of those games where nobody wanted to make a mistake, and the game suffered for it.

UTD first goal was class, Tade showing why he is the best finisher in Wellington rifleing home at the near post off a rocket of a byeline layback.  UH got a penalty off a push in the box at a corner (TBF officlals looked like they were looking for it.....) but Tade finished the game off in injury time with a header at the far post (lots of traffic) from a corner.

Both Pedro and Little very gracious and respectful at the after match speeches, might be a different scenario come 2nd round.  ;-)

Certainly was agricultural from the Wgtn side.  Both UH fullbacks collected injuries early - one delegged three times.  Constant fouls - whistle, but damn all else. Have to say that UH started to do it back second half and consistency was preserved.
Ref didn't have to look too hard for the penalty and should have had the bottle to award one a couple of minutes earlier when a UH attacker had his legs taken out a metre inside the box and the kick was awarded a metre outside.
Having said that, Wgtn deserved the points showing more urgency and commitment.

Funny post ^ ... question United's tactics and referee decisions but make it look like you're not having a moan by saying United deserved the win.

Fuck this stupid game

What would happen if Olympic won this grade, would the 2nd place side be allowed the CL playoff or not?

Sorry, was on the Clubrooms deck right above the 'penalty' inside the box.  Both players fell over each other outside the box, the ball was the only party inside the box.  Hopefull at most.

Agree second half, Upper Hutt started to play a bit more physical and started dishing it out.  If that was to balance a ledger then fine, thats all good.  But to suggest players being 'de-legged' is a bit of a long bow ;-)  Try staying on your feet even if your are tickled...thats about all that was going on.  Hence, no nasty yellows all game excpet for the obvious penalty that deserved a yellow, and a late challenge in on the UH 18 yard box by our striker in the 75th.  Hardly worth crying about.  :-)  Awfull but competitive game to watch.  Looking forward to the re-match.

Match abandoned for a couple of injuries? You don't see that every day. How bad is bad? Like ... did play have to stop for so long that the game wouldn't have finished in daylight?

I heard from a Karori player that they couldn't move the two players off the field because they were out to it and being sick etc. Sounds horrific so understandable that it was called off. The last thing the Wharf needed too by the way their season has been going.

Fuck this stupid game

There is a photo on parkie of the ambulance in the middle of the pitch.  That would be taking parking the bus a bit far.

Hope the lads are all okay, latest updates sound promising.  Good Fever lads.

Yeah that sounds pretty awful, I guess everyone was too traumatised to carry on.
Best wishes to the two lads knocked out cold, I know that feeling all to well unfortunately ...

One has a fractured skull and had surgery last night.  Apparently it is 'the best skull fracture the doctors have seen'.

Didn't question WU tactics, just named them. Ditto ref.  Overall, you've just got to accept what happens and WU shaded the game.

On behalf of the Wharf I'd just like to thank the officials + Island Bay for being oarsome during the head clash incident the otehr week. Especially Tony Jamo and whoever the Shark was who visited the hospital.
Cappy is probably going to be off work for 6 months (being a self employed builder this sucks) -so the lads are talking about having an event fundraiser for him. Will keep you posted. Chur.

Hope Cappy gets better very quickly.

Yes, very ugly. I'm sure everyone agrees and hopes for a speedy recovery. On another point, what's happened to the Wharf this year?
