Hopefully this idea takes off. The standard of club football in the South Island really needs to improve to get close to the level of the Central and Northern Leagues. Teams like Cash Tech and Caversham need competition week-in week-out, no more of these 6-0 and 7-0 scores every other weekend.

Cash Tech, Coastal Spirit, Ferrymead Bays, Nelson Suburbs, Dunedin Tech, Caversham and Mosgiel have the size and depth to compete. Possibly FC Twenty 11, Roslyn-Wakari and Southland. Ideally Queenstown Rovers and a Timaru side would be involved to represent every region in the league.

Key to the league is sponsorship, crowd numbers, regional relegation/promotion and a long-term mindset.

No need to repeat it just for impact :-]  Hope it's that on Saturday night and not :-[

Glad I have a Sunday game to play this weekend get to watch the young kids run around both Saturday am/pm and Monday.

Is that line of chat allowed?

Western 2 (Andrew Storer, Cameron Bell) Universites 2 (Aaron Heath, Sam Howes) HT 1 - 0

Tight game with Western scoring in the opening minutes with Universities then dominating and levelling after 53 minutes. Western back infront with 20 to play with Universities scoring with four to play, to pick up what was a deserved point.

Plenty of yellow cards dished out with Western keeper receiving a yellow and then a red after the final whistlewith several other players luckly to to received a red.

Well done Daniel!

Firstly congrats to dan. Think I am right in saying he has scored 70 plus goals In mpl too. Sure AW 82 will have exact total. Have seen selwyn a few times this year and have been impressed with everything they have been doing. Well done on attracting such an exciting player to your club and the fact you have kept him is a great credit to you. How this lad has never played for dragons is a joke. Do not label him lazy as I have watched dragons and chch this year and frankly he has to be a better bet than Chang.

United drew v Halswell, is that news? Must open things up for Selwyn now! I did hear from a mate that United were pretty lucky and spent the game rolling around on the ground at the slightest contact, and outplayed for majority. Burwood Parklands,  willing contest and not the prettiest but was probably the case around traps after last week's conditions

Selwyn were very deserved winners vs our Waimak lads today. Thanks to Chris and others at Selwyn for the assistance with our injured player.

A couple of rumors going around English Park that Coastal's Sam Orritt may be heading across the ditch to play, confirmed by one of my sources that is always on the money.

Yes I thought that too Broonie, hoofball carries the day :)

Just kidding. Tech played the better percentage football on the night and while Coastal didn't fire a real shot in anger they managed to stay in the game right until the end. Typical top of the table clash just not as good as the first one regardless of the result. One each for the season, on to the next one .....

One thing I've always wondered with Coastal is why they wear the black strip playing at night? They seem to struggle to string passes together under the lights and I often wonder if the dark strip makes it harder to pick out players? Would be interesting to know the stats for wins for the black v white strip.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Completely agree Ron. I have found playing in black much more difficult to see my team mates than when I played in the white of Rangers or even further back the yellow of New Brighton & that is even playing in the afternoon & now at a much slower pace than MPL
