Haha that's the sort of situation where the coach is screaming "take him on, take him on ffs, go round him ........ oh fork that's a great ball" clap clap

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

I thought team uniform had to be completely different from the opposition. Both teams are wearing white shorts. I have had some local referees making goal keepers change shorts and socks before kick off due to clash of colours. How do they get away with it in Mainland?

Good to see a couple of ex Coastal boys on the scorecards today :)

Heard Halswell had a few players ruled out today which may have had an impact, but certainly seems like Western put them to the sword today

Halswell looked quite vulnerable last week against Waimak and were probably fortunate to get 3 points.

No surprise to me that Western beat them and I see Western as favourites to win CCL.

Think this proves how open the CCL is Gaffa as when we’ve played them both Halswell have been the better team out of the 2.

Anyone seems capable of beating anyone in the league.

Are the rumours of 4 game bans true then for the 2 that got sent off last week as otherwise they would have missed the English Cup game?

two poor performances as you say don't make a season. a long way to go and by no means is anyone favourites. if i'm going from pure football then halswell, but playing pretty and trying to play pretty will only get you so far in this league

ISPS Handa Chatham Cup

Round 3 Draw for team remaining in the Mainland Federation - games played Queens Birthday Monday  4 June (KO times to be confirmed)

Cashmere Technical vs. Ferrymead Bays

FC Twenty11 vs. Nelson Suburbs

Rangers (Blenheim) vs. Western

Selwyn vs. Coastal Spirit

Interesting that the draw was 'open' compared to recent years which has been regionally based. One none MPL guaranteed to make the final 32 for Round 4 which will be played weekend of 23 / 24 June.

Yer agreed. It's normally an easy tie up north where the two Nelson/Blenheim teams play off so it's a bit strange that it's not that way. Maybe it's just been a coincidence they've drawn each other for the past 50 years.

Update from tonight's Blackwell's Holden English Cup. Waimakariri were leading Universities 1 - 0 at the break but the students are now 2 - 1 ahead into the final 30 minutes.

What’s the the draw going to be like for the next round Gavin? Is it still mainland or is it opened up to South Island?

Full draw is in the Chatham Cup thread. Still at (8) Mainland Fed teams at this stage.

If it follows the recents years would expect the four winners from  the games on Queens Birthday Monday to be drawn together for the next round in late June.

Which players are coming back from their US College's (Universities) and turning out in the  MPL?

I understand that Ross McPhie (Nelson Suburbs) is not returning home this year.

Stats from today's round:

Congratulations on Nelson Suburbs on being the first club to reach 600 MPL points

Dan Ede's strike today now puts him third equal (with Keith Grosvenor) on the all time goal scoring list with 79 goals

First time in four seasons that Nomads have won three games on the bounce.

Cashmere Technical goal difference is now exactly 300, the best in the MPL - next best is Suburbs on 257 and Bays on 247

He is at Memphis AW.

Also heard he picked up the man of the match award yesterday Bumblebee so perhaps you need to re-direct that tiny little stinger of yours.

My spies at the Coastal game have reported that Bays absolutely battered the Spirit and were extremely unlucky to lose the game and the shield...but my spies wear navy blue eyepatches so would appreciate some neutral observations on the match
