I always state the facts.  A player told her team (and I heard from the team) that Tech has offered her money to go play for them.  First time I have heard of it being done in the Women's game.

Facty enough?

Sigh.

I have also heard that if players signed (women's) on for a certain club then a good word would be put in for contacts they had for national side at various aged groups, so is this in the same class Vim.

That was the beef at Halswell. Women had to pay subs men didn't.
Maybe they have reconsidered which at the eleventh hour resulted in a WPL side of sorts.

I sincerely doubt that this is true if you are insinuating that's from my club, and I would agree that this is not ok. Is it in the same range as offering big bucks to change clubs on a $ per game basis, I'm not so sure.

I would have thought it was worse (if true!)

In news to hand today, Tech have broken new ground (depths) and have offered the first female player money to change clubs. Is there no limit to this shenanigans?

I'm looking forward to the day Tech want to start up a Sunday League team.

I know of Sunday League players being offered to have their subs paid for them.... So where does that stand on the scheme of things?

Sunday league players paying subs?

If another Sunday League team wants to pay the $30 subs for a player I think it is in a slightly different scale to what is being discussed here sorry...

$30 subs won't cover levies. Do they even pay them, and if not, why not?

This is getting off topic, was only a joke. But yes Sunday pays levies to Mainland, on the threat of them losing access to grounds!

Players shouldn't be paid full stop in Mainland Affiliated Leagues..... Although most 1st teams get free or discounted subs do they not? But how is this paid? Through other teams in the club or through sponsorship?

Obviously fact enough for you Vim. For most sane people it is "Hearsay".

Facts would include the name of the player for a start.

Player doesn't need to be named. Why not take Vim at his word? He's stated he's heard it from the team. It's newsworthy as he notes. Tech Seniors unlikely to change their approach anyway. It's ingrained in the club culture.

Draws due on the site today for other grades according to this email from Colin Grant...

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all Junior, Men and Women delegates…

To give you a heads up regarding the timeframe as to when draws will be finalised.

The process below.

1.  Entries sought Feb onwards

2.  (6th March) closing date for entries received (have extended till 10th March)

3.  (10th March) Mainland Football collate all entries, any clubs not entered are informed and given a deadline

4.  (11th/ 12th March) chase up stragglers

5.  (13th/14th March) compile list of teams within leagues, check against final placings in 2013 season

6.  (14th March) list of teams within their grade sent back out to clubs to check all teams are there, correct spelling etc

7.  (17th- 21st March) Leagues are compiled based on 2013 season standings, information received and requests

8.  (21st March) Draws sent out to clubs and published to the web.

9.  (24th March) Refine, refine, refine

10.  (26th March) All leagues confirmed

At point 8, clubs can allocate players into teams, even if that team is moved to another league the players will also move with it.

Seniors have been created just in the process of finalising, hopefully next Monday 17th March seniors will be on the web

--------------------------------------------------------

Doesn't look likely though as Club Chairman has confirmed he hasn't received the info as spelt out in Point 6.

If Vim heard that it is still hearsay. Gossip from some of his girls!!

The player concerned (who I don't really want to name as I am spreading her news without her consent) told the team on the weekend she had been offered monetary compensation from Tech to transfer to them. She is a top player, however is staying put.

Yes you can choose to take my word for it or say it's false.  Doesn't really worry me however I know it is fact as she told the whole team and has no reason to make it up.
In my defense, we have already had on this forum the chair of Tech on here saying it's fine to pay players, it's good for the game.

I'm simply saying I believe it isn't, and this has now spread to Women's football and it's dishonest to continue to say it's not happening in the Men's game as well.

It is false, that is based on my enquiries. Not based on rumours and hearsay as was the accusation. Vim is wrong again, good job it doesn't worry him. The women's game is safe (in Christchurch at least). Now only need to worry about the stupidity of the new dispensations.

Maybe you both needed to play for the women's team? Now there's a new take on an old song, the girls getting paid while the guys don't :)

Don't get your Tech Browns confused. Dave Brown is Chair; John Brown is first team coach.

The issue is yet another story of Tech paying players - beyond 'petrol money'.  Whilst you Tech and Coastal people argue over it, the reality is we will always have this status quo until we have a true semi-professional national club league; ie not in the forseeable future.

Ouch this is getting messy and rather personal.

Perhaps we could stick to the issues, that being some clubs are happy to pay players and others not. As long as we are clear on that, and not hide behind it, maybe we can all get along?

Maybe.

Please to hear that like me you do not agree it is OK, but has been going on for some time. As for which clubs - I have been made aware of at least two clubs in recent years. Did not state if were Mainland clubs or not.

Personal Ben, nearly every comment from you either slags tech or it's people still not heard one shred of facts from you.

I would be extremely pissed at Tech if I paid subs for my son to hear that the first team are paying everyone and any one. Are you on the board at Coastal, some serious allegations . I've attended a few mainland meetings where we try and sort out the game, if it's that bad I have never seen you take a stand at the meeting. Or is it better to stand behind vim and shout to the skies.

When Tech sign a player it's $$$ not football but if Coastal sign Longo one of the best players I the country , it's football. Me thinks playing too much Sunday football has turned your eyes green.

I,m more than happy to sit down and explain our clubs culture to you,
