DRAMARAMA in women's premier league today.

Is Vim Fuego running two accounts? He is the only person I have ever seen who says DRAMARAMA...

Perfectly acceptable word, should be in the dictionary.  Sums up many a game over the weekend with both champions lucky to survive on penalties. Imagine if they had both been knocked out. Where's the report on Cashmere game?

For Vim, part of release from NZ Footy:

Big guns clear first ASB Chatham Cup
hurdle
Sunday 11 May, 2014For immediate
release

The big guns survived round one of the ASB Chatham Cup with a number of teams recording big victories as the 91st edition of
the New Zealand national knockout cup competition continued over the weekend.

On Sunday, defending champions Cashmere Technical were forced to a penalty shootout by Ferrymead Bays before claiming a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over the home side at Barnett Park.

The 2013 ASB Chatham Cup champions built an early 2-0 lead through two goals in two minutes from Ash Wellbourn but the visitors were chased down by fellow Mainland Premier League team Ferrymead, Omid Rajabi pulling a goal back before halftime and Michael White equalising with a free kick late in the second half.

Bays could have won it in regular time but White had a penalty saved in the dying stages and the champions took full advantage of that reprieve, holding their nerve in the shootout; converting all five of their spot kicks.

Much better than a Div 6 side. Young quality side, could easily foot it in the 2nd or 1st Div.

Victims of mainlands New  teams in div 6 policy. These lads got screwed over last year when the 21s went bust and now have to work their way up the divs. Technically very good

Agree. And still we wonder why we lose players to the game. If schools can have rights to a team in the youth grades without having them work their way up through the juniors, then how is this any different? Still, think they could/should have looked at PDL but can well imagine being gun shy because of u21 failing last year. Equally it is not a way up the ranks towards div1. Needs sorting!

Yes, he's at Parklands Div 1 And sposed to be quite good by all reports.  Was at Burwood with their U19 team at some stage.

Poor old Burwood get Tech in the Chatham Cup. Now that would be an upset!

Yes Buffchacho has a whole set, would be good to get them out for the match. I'm guessing both games will be on the same time, altho Tech did get a Sunday game last time so maybe???

Since when has FIFA ruled that there are different Laws of the Game for Men and Women? Have I missed something.

In the Women's KO Cup game between Coastal and University play stopped several times for injuried players to receive treatment and play restarted with the injuried player not having to go to the side line.

Ref swapped with his Lino in that game midstream too. Ref took over Lino duties with no apparent injury so why the change?

Could be missing a ref that knows the rules inside out and not back to front.
When did I last see one of those, bring back Walker and position him on the sideline with a whistle.

Yes that was a funny moment in the game as the ref was wearing a blue top and the lino black tops so the two had to strip off their tops and swap them in the middle of the field, clearly not enough blue tops to go around considering that Coastal wear black.

yes a lot of whistling and yahooing during shirt swap

both times Duff stopped play was for headclashes

fair call I reckon. swapped roles cos he was knackered, pretty sure it was his second game that day

Burwood were under the impression from Mainland that they would not be placed in such a low division. After the shambolic U21 grade break up last season the team were placed in Div 4 which they cruised through. As a result and after communication with Mainland football they thought they were a chance of continuing in at least Div 4 this season.

Mainland eventually told them they would be placed in Div 6, in a decision that I believe was made to force Burwood to enter the new U21 grade this season which was not getting a lot of interest at the time (and rightly so). The club president Murray Ralfs and the team decided to pretty much stick it to Mainland and start in Div 6 and smash each team every week to the point where it has become farcical.

Yes the orange came from the Dutch influence from the early days at Burwood.

I was very surprised to see it on the front page.

Not good for our sport

I wonder if Western were on a good behaviour bond after last year's incident?

Yer I totally agree.  I have been hassling The Press to update their local sport page on their website and they have said it's all down to resources.  Plenty of resources for a bad news story!
