Club didnt want a player going away to national schools champs and missing a gamefor the club, sh*t got messy and they went to mainland to have a cry over it.
Mainland ruled that it was the player's decision and right as they were registered to the school and the club and refused to step in to make a call either way.
The club used FIFA legislation around the 1 player 1 club rule (which is meant to be for professional players, not a 16-17 year old kid) and mainland was forced to back down unless 100% of the clubs were happy with the 1 school, 1 club rego policy. No prizes for guessing which one club f**ked it for the rest....

went out to Avonhead Park for the Year 5-6 schools tournament today. Some quite good stuff despite some of the players being a bit big for junior fields.
top marks to the boy from Cust who bravely headed out a cannonball from my son, crikey it must of hurt.

Clubs lose kids that go to some schools at 14th grade. As has been stated this is fine if they play in the wednesday school comp and schools have no rights to play on a Saturday comp.
You do have the so called Elite schools playing what they have we must have, that happened with CBHS and SBHS when they wanted to play PDL grade.
The only way to change this is that ckubs in Mainlad Football area need to be stronger in the resolve to get together and vote against the minority wish.
Or vote a no confidence in the way Mainland are running {ruining] football.

The only way schools should be playing anything other than a Wednesday is if they are affiliated with a club. Like CBHS should be more closely linked with HSOB. It's ridiculous that Boys High are (or were? not sure what they're up to these days) so good at their age group and HSOB are rubbish. If they want to play PDL then start feeding players to HSOB and make a go of it rather than expecting it on a platter.
I should add that this would no longer make them CBHS and then shouldn't be allowed to play High School football.timmymadden2011-09-09 08:58:15

Halswell the better team on the day by a country mile even when a goal down.
Western goal came in the third minute and a needless yellow card for taking shirt over head, came back to bite Tom Cairns on the bum before half time with a second yellow and gone burger.
Why when you are a striker would you be an idiot and put yourself in that position with first card, then going and putting a bad tackle in at that time in the game and tied up at 1 all?
Halswell should have had a couple more goals but for poor finishing by Bakker.
Well done to Halswell,
Rhys Parker must be your player of the year if not the MPL player of the year.
Although you can expect a Bays player to get that, maybe they pay plenty for votes as well as goals!

It was Tom Sansom that scored for Western and received a second yellow before half time.

I do not know you POOLMISTER... but you sound a bitter and twisted person. Always having a dig at some person or club.
And you aren't? Lighten up Ken, it's a forum for goodness sake. Opportunity for people to espouse all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas whether we agree or not.

Tough day at the office for Western. 2 finals appearances on the day, 2 losses, they'll be pretty gutted. I would imagine they fancied their chances in the English cup more so than the Reta. Thought they were good value in the Reta even though Coastal dominated possession and territory. They were certainly a better opponent than FC20 in the semi final.

Yes Western impressed in the Reta Fitzpatick Cup. For me Dayna Napa was the pick of the players from both sides always looked dangerous and would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the Western goal had been scored earlier, with the final Coastal goal in the final minutes somewhat making the scoreline a little flattering.

Thanks AllWhite82 for the correction with the players name.
Thanks for the comments I don't mind being called bitter and twisted, I don't post on here to be liked just put another opinion over.
It's not hard watching Nomads with 2 MPL titles and 2 English cups in the last few years.

Looking at the standard in the qualifying league Nomads should bounce back to MPL in 2013. Is Harry Smits staying on as coach - I hope so.

To be honest I thought she was a bit of a one trick pony:bags of pace but not a lot else.I thought Western's best player was their terrific central defender,Lee Maoate-Cox:without her,Coastal would have sewn the game up much earlier;A few of the coastal forwards would probably attest to that.

Anyone laid foot to the smartificial turf at Formerly/Formally English Park? Another forum suggests Crusaders have already booked training time there. I know Mainland need to make money from it but it will be interesting to see how this pans out if there is a clash of codes. Hope Mainland realise where their priorities are! BTW anyone got a ground (club or school) to offer a 13th grade rep team who are seeking a training venue? Contact Mainland if you can help.

I was under the impression that the crusaders training there was during the week days when its highly probable it would just be sitting idle. I just hope they're creaming a decent amount of cash for its use from them to subsidise its use for the footballing community

Yep, had a run on it last night. Firmer than I thought it would be but oh so smooooooth. Feels really good underfoot. Rubber chips being added today. Still a lot of work to be done, lights not back up yet with a slight hiccup there and all the paving needs to be finished. All in all looking good.

certainly not a central location but South Brighton Domain has a field and goal posts up.
IIRC it is a Woolston -Tech ground
the intermediate field is Coastal and is being used for the month to train a rep side(s) 11's after I rang New Brighton Cricket to check when the need the fields (1st weekend of October at the earliest)

I think the lights may be a bigger problem than first thought as not much room to get a cherry picker in without [and you can't] going over the new turf.
Have you got any info on this?

The neighbours could help here by turning their lights on and leaving the curtains open!

Just reading through some of the Wgton regional threads and they are doing a good write up of each club's season. Anyone interested in doing it for your own club? Games won, lost, highlights, thoughts for next season. Think we have most clubs on here, maybe not Utd.

Thanks Foal. They are using a corner of Bexley apparently. Thanks CS.

13's and 14's this season has been a pain in the ass because of the afternoon school gig.
SBHS went back to 'normal school' this week which helps but Avonside and Marian sound like they are at alternate campus/times for the rest of the year at least. It certainly was a chore to find suitable practice times and obviously the same thing now carry over into the Summer Sports.
After all the crap we went through / going through I'm actually pretty pleased and in some ways surprised just how good parts of the season has been. It was great to get so many games of an organized comp in, although we were extremely lucky with the dry winter.
and from the 'Self Interest' corner for Coastal to not actually lose Juniors this season given the living conditions
over this way is worthy of a trophy in and of itself.
also Woolston-Tech took the senior posts down at Sth Brighton last night, so no field there.

Updated Mainland awards are here
Finalists for best and fairest clubs are Chch Boys, Mainland Academy, and Coastal. Obvious bias aside, are 2 of these even clubs?

No. Academy is not a club. Neither is CBHS. (However I believe HSOB is a club).
Best & Fairest Senior Club - two PDL teams made up entirely of schoolboys?
If Mainland wanted to recognise a TEAM for B&F, they should add that award.Stretford End2011-09-15 10:36:44

CBHS is a club. Yes its a school based structure of teams but they pay the same fees as coastal/tech/western etc. Only difference is mainland dictates they can't have teams in PDL/MPL/Div 1.
If we still had dual rego and a seperate schools comp then the arguement could be made they are not.
The academy on the other hand...

any gossip on whether the Academy teams will be d established for 2012?
players train mid-week as CSOF then return to their respective clubs for match day Saturday?

Dreaming! If anything I can see them eventually ending up with a team in div 1 from 10th grade right through to MPL.
Last season was the intro...2 or 3 teams which didnt compete for points, this year they got points. Watch it grow to the point that its pretty much a club.
The fact that they're still training in their squads + doing junior rep training further adds to my belief its here to stay.
