Crazy (several in fact, but this was the best) thing happened at ASB Football Park on Saturday between Western and Suburbs. Into the 2nd half Suburbs tried to bring on a sub only for the 4th official to say the number was not on the team list with a lenghty debate then going on for a few minutes while play had stopped, Suburbs insist players numbers is on list and ask to see it only to be told list in officials room under stand. Ref gets play back under way as the 4th runs around the field and them back again only to say "Sorry I got it wrong".

Sub is made and player, Brandon Kay scores final Suburbs goal.

Moral of the story bring team sheet to the dug outs.

Oh, come on Vim and Rknow; get your collective acts together. I'm not responsible for who views what on your computers - you'll have to sort that out yourselves!

In the meantime any advice on editing a jpeg to align with avatar requirements on this newly branded forum?

I want to show the full pic of my Stretford End girl so you can see: a) she's wearing Man U knickers and b) her lovely face!

Best bet is to just use paint to edit it down to 100 pixels v 100 pixels, then load her up again (also saves the forum having a fit as it tries to re-size - one of our known issues).

How's my driving? - Whine here

Would be nice to be able to help out a fellow forumer but alas along with CHCH football, it is more about the individual than the collective.

Thanks for helping out.

There she is; the beautifule belle of the Stretford End; with a little extra censorship - for Vim's boss.

Now RKnow you'll have to tell your teenagers that anticipation is 90% of the fun.

But I can't please everyone all the time, so she may change again.

The things I do to help out around here!

Sad rumour #1: some lad from a local club has been suspended (not sure for how many games) due to persistent racial abuse of an opposing player in a recent match. The player being abused walked off the pitch mid-game saying he'd had enough (good on him); the club complained and Mainland and the club dealt with it as indicated. Let's hope we hear no more of this sort of thing.

Sad rumour #2: some local lad's parents have paid nearly...sit down before you read this....$20,000 to attend APFA!

Thanks, I think. Not for the boss, a possibility it's for your kids but never mind, they are probably used to it.

Not surprised on both of the rumours, I've heard that figure before APFA, they don't play in Mainland comps do they? Pretty sure Coastal beat them in a friendly last year. Will check that out.

Well guys its good to be back, had missed you all...and the gossip floating around.

Sad rumour #2: some local lad's parents have paid nearly...sit down before you read this....$20,000 to attend APFA!

I'd heard there were a few in the APFA paying that much if not more. Someone told me $30k a year if they're not on scholarship.

Be interesting to see how the lads coming back in from the USA go. Western will get a big lift out of Miles returning - he's quality and sounds like he was scoring for fun over there.

Another wee rumour I've heard - several clubs throwing the toys big time over the 7 goal cap in junior and youth footy, to the extent where they're threatening a vote of no confidence in the board of mainland football. Throw in the dramas surrounding the academy set up etc and mainland are in for a lot of fun.

Good call robags, I think cashmere have gone 4 games without scoring. Any correlation I wonder between faichne now servicing coastal's welbourn & Turnbull instead of cashmere? Thoughts anyone?

Thoughts? I wouldn't call it servicing.

Could be. Having seen both sides a couple of times I can see Tech rolling a team by a bag full of goals at some stage as creating plenty of chances, while Coastal are scoring plenty (Ash and Gareth scoring but not many other Coastal players) they are also conceding more than they would like at the moment so plenty to improve for both teams.

First goal Coastal have conceded this season, they'll be gutted. FC 90....... could cop the backlash tonight!

Likewise for Technical - the first goals they have conceded was against Coastal.

Coastal 4 Bays 2. Bays were 1-0 up until a handball off the line, goal-scoring opportunity, so they down to 10. 1-1 from the penatly (taken twice) then Bays get a penalty last kick of the half to go 2-1 up.  Big second half and Coastal win 4-2.

Good times.

I heard Halswell were up 2-0 over Nomads.

No upsets locally with Suburbs playing Richmond on Sunday, next round on the Monday of Queen's Birthday 4 June. Also no ChCh schools entered this year which is somewhat interesting.

Down south the upset was Invercargill's Old Boys rolling premier side Green Island, with Mike McGarry's Mosgiel rolled by University which is a bit of a suprise. The big two from Dunedin, Caversham and Technical were seeded in the the next round.

Mainland Women's results from today.

Coastal 4 FC Twenty 1

Western 1 Cashmere Tech 1

University 2 Halswell 2

so Coastal now unbeaten and three points clear at the top over FC who have play one more game than Coastal.

Yep, great day to be a Spirit. Solid if unspectacular 3 points for the girls last night. Emma scored a spectacular long range effort early on. Eff Cee hustled and bustled with no result, Coastal played some really nice footy with Whitney, Webby and Lauren combining well and going 3-0 up at the break. FC stepped up a gear in the second half and scored a good individual goal (Belinda Van Noorden?) with a strong run from 1/2 way to get back into it with 25 to go but seemed to run out of puff and ideas, they only have one method of attack and that is flat out pace and go straight for goal. Coastal killed the game with 10 to go when Webby scored direct from a corner, woeful defending saw the ball cross the goal mouth along the ground and go in at the far post. Mind you none of the Coastal strikers got a touch on it either.

Some interesting games in the next round:

ChCh United vs. Bays - Friday evening

Cashmere Tech vs. Coastal - the Match of the Day

FC 2011 vs Western -

Halswell vs Suburbs

so will the Cup results which saw several clubs which have struggled to score in recent weeks in the MPL bag plenty of goals - Technical, Western and FC so will this translate into a change of from.

Wow that's a thrashing. Spose that means they are suspended for the next Chatham Cup which will make it nice for the team drawn to play them.

I've gone from a leg end to a first team member and shed 12,000 posts. No consultation from the board. Not happy :(!
