There are some desperate teams out there. Could be upsets.

Good time of the year championships at stake cup finals, relegation battles.

Possibility of big celebrations at Garrick. WPDL, PDL both looking good along with MPL and WMPL.

Good luck to all.

Yes interesting round on Saturday, with a few new milestones likely to be created.

A case of 'cheers and beers' for many and then just 'tears' for others.

Agree Fred, time for people to either add their actual name or cut out some of the crap / hate postings, does nothing for the game.

Back to the football; Predicting a very close contest in the English Cup final between Bays and CS, with CS taking it 1-0 or 2-1. Key players for both sides: Fraser Angus (bangs both goals and birds) & Sean Liddicoat (bangs goals only)
Permalink Permalink

Appears Liddicoat will be unavailable for the final due to U20 commitments - a testament to the season he has had. My replacement for CS key player is Shawn O'Brien who also struggles to bang off the field, but certainly not on it with 9 MPL goals this season.

Need picks in the tipping competition from Foal30, Big Cheese and Dinamo Chris. Do it here.

The MPL survey is going quite well, if you haven't done it yet do it here now.  Question 2 is about picking the club of the year which isn't your own one. It's pretty obvious people picking their own twice!

My opinions for the survey and for the league,

FC Twenty have done well this season after being promoted. Strong mid table finish. Never looked in relegation threat.

CS challenging for the title is great success for the club & the league competition I feel.

Ctech (With a win) going on to win fourth title on the bounce is also a highly commendable feat.

To much negative perspectives floating around.

Mostly stock selections this weekend, with one punter voting on hope rather than form. Good luck.

What a great season it has been. Possibly the most enjoyable so far for me.

Indeed. Congrats on the result today and yet another championship mate, well deserved. We need 3 points next week to guarantee 4th so take the lads on a well earned night on the lash next Friday :)

The first post from a championship winning coach is a dig at second place. Well done on all your achievements. #noegghere

Dunno about laughing really. They won the league with a team that is stacked full of national league players, and went out of the Chatham Cup at the first non Chch hurdle, so yeah, they are probably happy enough with the league win( congratulations etc to Broonie and the lads) but I think most people were probably expecting a bit more from them.

It's tough at the top, with all the weight of expectations on you and being the team everyone wants to beat etc too I suppose. Roll on next year I reckon. The tide is turning!

Haha! Browner is a worse winner then he is a loser - turned into a ghost after he lost to Uni. Double standards. Coastal Spirit can hold their heads high, Cash Tech should hang their heads very very low. Chatham Cup let downs if anything. I've had calls from both clubs about next season - easy decision for me.

Broonie please stop contacting me. It's a no. I'm either staying at my current club or tasting the Coastal Spirit life. Couldn't think of anything worse than playing under dinosaur tactics. Thanks but no thanks Roy.

You obviously don't play for CS then

As I've only ever approached one player from my friendly neighbors, the very talented Ashbag

He managed to get a few winners medals under his belt

Congratulations to Cashmere Technical on becoming the first club to win four MPL on the bounce and join Ferrymead Bays on top of the most titles with four each.

Technical the first club to hold both the MPL and WPL in the same season.

John Brown now joins Keith Braithwaite as coach with the most MPL titles - Keith had two wins with Nomads and two with Woolston Technical with Keith becoming the first coach to achieve wins in both the MPL and WPL.

Superb meme Broonie, very good, one problem though - there's absolutely no chance in hell you'd take to the swimming pool, let's be realistic ae big fella. You have as much talent keeping afloat as Jordan Halligan does controlling and passing the ball with grace - I'll make sure the air rescue team is readied, chub.

El Loco has been very quiet on here. Has he run out of coal.

As I said about 300 posts back, puff your chest out when things are done and dusted.

I have been called everything under the sun, which has been fun. Thick skinned with a smile.

I will stick up for my lads though, they have been called a one man team ,over the hill, etc etc etc.

Here's some chest puffing stats.

CTFC v CSFC Played 18 games , 2 draws 16 wins CTFC

CTFC v CSFC 2016 ,the year of our downfall, as has been touted on here. Played 4, CTFC 4 wins Goals for 15 against 2.

Now no doubt we will hear the " wait for next year" "the train is coming to get you" "your time is up" and all the other "normal service resumes"  banter soon.

The fat lady didn't sing but the fat controller was yesterday at 5pm.
