A few ex Christchurch MPL players featuring among the goal scorers up north today in Chatham Cup games:

- Harry Hillary-Jenkins scored twice for Papakura City in their 6 - 2 win over Takapuna City

- Ken Yamamoto the scorer for Bay Olympic in their 5 - 1 lost to Onehunga Sports

- Josh Smith's hat-trick helped Palmerston North Marist in their 6 - 0 win over Red Sox's

They'll find it tougher in the Chatham Cup. Hopefully.

Yes, best possible draw for us. Is this round the last 16?

so in the last 16 there is 4/5 Sth Island teams? 2x Chch, 2xDunedin. What about the Nelson side do they play Wellington sides then?

The last 8 one game will be Chch v Dunedin like previous years I guess?

32 teams left with 4 from Christchurch and 4 from Dunedin (16 northern, 8 central/capital; 0 from Nelson) becomes 16 with 2 and 2 then 8 with 1 and 1.

Regulations: https://www.nzfootball.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/201...

(which actually suggest Chch/Dunedin clubs could be drawn together from this point on, but clearly that wasn't the case in yesterday's draw)

Iirc the draw is often travel friendly in certain rounds.

Best game I've seen this season at Brookside Park. Selwyn 3-1 down at half time and coming back to 3-3. The equaliser definitely up there for goal of the season also.

Would be nice to see MPL teams open up and go at each other like these two did.

Whatever Padmore gave his side at half time, I want some.

Any other game reviews?

Looking at results Nomads drew 0-0 with Bays in Div 1, although not sure what state some of the Nomads guys may have been in today as Club Stalwart Bill Youngman passed away overnight

Yeah 3-0 to Coastal and well deserved. They totally dominated Utd who barely fired a shot. Some good young players in the Coastal team(Spain, Alley, Brady)

Womens league has tightened right up. Top 3 teams equal on points, with Coastal being downed by University at the weekend. A deserved victory apparently and not really a shock. Took the Hawkey Shield too...

Universities were already the holders of the Shield so successfully defended it, they defeated Coastal 3 - 1 last year at Cuthberts Green.

Parklands are the next challengers.

I have just heard that there has been a change of coaching staff at Christchurch United. Not sure who is taking over but they are going to need to get up to speed quickly with Uni this week being one of their must win games if they are to have a shot at avoiding relegation.

No excuse.....oh sorry did you want one......Didn't turn up. No bad tackles, ref was abysmal both ways, not just against us.

What were you hoping for? That we had to change our kit late in the preparation, that we had none of our outfield 1st XI starting, that issues off the pitch have affected the coaching set-up? Are these better excuses for you? They all happened last night. None of them are excuses, we just didn't turn up. Sorry if it's all I've got. The truth can be a bit boring can't it.

Next......

Hurunui took their chances and executed them well I thought.  The Young Selwyn team gave a good go of it, but 3 goals in 20 mins was probably pretty deflating for a player.  End of the Day, Dinamo is right,    Selwyn didn't turn up and got punished for it.  Well played Hurunui, may your run be long.
