Mainland Premier League (Part 2)
Media release, December 13
Christchurch United FC recruits experienced Brazilian to coach first team
Christchurch United Football Club has underlined its intention to return to the Mainland Premier League in 2017 by signing Brazilian Fernando Lambert as their head coach for the coming season.
Lambert is an internationally licenced coach and has come up through the Brazilian and Australian coaching programmes, including stints with acclaimed clubs like Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Gremio.
In recent years, Lambert has been based in Sydney, running his own academy and was part of the youth development at Manly United FC. He also earned coaching qualifications in the United States and recently completed his training as a Cognitive Football Instructor.
Lambert will join the impressive international coaching line-up at Christchurch United which recently merged with the Christchurch Academy and will be based at the state-of-the-art Christchurch Football Centre in Yaldhurst.
The Brazilian will be responsible for the club’s first team but also be heavily involved in the new high-performance Christchurch United Academy and the club’s Football School for players between 4 and 12 years of age.
Club president Slava Meyn is extremely pleased to have secured the services of the Brazilian coach.
“We got to know Fernando well while we were competing at the Sydney International Cup and we realised his professional background, youth development experience and his Brazilian flair would be a great addition to our coaching staff,” says Meyn, adding that an experienced coach like Lambert would help to attract talented players.
Lambert says that he was impressed by Meyn’s achievements and vision to create the best football talents in New Zealand.
“I came over last year to run a holiday camp and was blown away by the fantastic facility he has created,” says Lambert.
“So when Slava invited me to join the club, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of his amazing vision to become the leading football brand in New Zealand.”
The Brazilian will arrive in Christchurch on December 17 and will start immediately, running a special Brazil skills programme in the first week of the school holidays.
“And I can’t wait to meet the Christchurch United players and start preparing for next season. I understand they narrowly missed out on promotion last year, so I hope we can go one better this year.”

Good to see the train commentary has moved on.
Cash tech appointed Deane Hutchinson MPL coach; presumably Brando is still coaching the Reserves.
Chch Utd made the smart move to follow the money and have effectively merged with Chch Football Academy/Slava Meyn FC. The entity has added to their multi-national coaching staff: Dutch coach Pieter in't Groen and Brazilian Fernando Lambert, who has been coaching youth teams at Manly United FC in Sydney. Looks like they've also dropped 'The Ram' from the new club crest. And Slav is importing a kit-set stadium to be re-assembled here. Hope he's got an allen key.
KC is back at the presidential helm of the Hawks. MPL coach Robble Barraclough has appointed James Solotti as his assistant.
Coastal's FDO Paul Bateson has take up a similar role at TKU in Auk; no replacement announced as yet; also seeking a Mens Reserves coach
Ash Ward rumored to be player/coaching FC20 WPL. Anyone confirm this, or just rumour?
UC have appointed 3rd year sports-coaching student Jesse Rawlings as MPL coach, assisted by ex Cashmere youth player Tyler Logan.
Nomad's MPL coach Sean McGarr was advertising for players recently.
Nelson Subs?
Bays - wang chan will reveal all, apparently, including Stu Kelly move from cash tech?
Kotahitanga. We are one.

I heard a different name at FC20 WPL, time will tell.
Also understand Western have appointed their MPL coach, come across town from Universities.
Interesting...
Maybe Slava Meyn has a solution. A Russian businessman who eventually
wants to construct a boutique stadium near Christchurch airport in New
Zealand to go with his academy, Meyn isn't interested in a quote from
local builders. Instead he's gone to China, sourced the products he
needs, and intends to have them certified to NZ standards before
shipping them to Christchurch to be re-assembled. I had a look at his
plans and his facilities last year, and he gets my vote.

Kotahitanga. We are one.
Nomads have been the busiest thats for sure, they will have the best GK and best striker in the league as they have created an FDM role to sign Mr Perfect. Also raided some Western and Tech youth.
Ferrymead have thrown the most $$ signing Seb, Nikolai #rip off and Stu Kelly. With two top coaches we will be smoking guns blazing this season. Retaining all players so will only be better. Just need to start well and we will be sweet.
Nelson look hella stronger with a few of the Tasman imports staying on. That Rob guy is the best player on the island after Claps.
Havnt heard much about Tech. Someone told me they are in talks with Sean Liddicoat from Coastal. Claps not playing? Gary qualified to take FDM roles?
Coastal have also been pretty quite. I heard Paul Hughes was named manager. Their players all seemed to have enjoyed their season from what some of them have told me. Seen them on the after season trip... I best not go there.... I did hear Ekow is getting himself fit to play? That true? haha the new Steve Ager
Ill tell you who wont be quite though, our friend Broonie. We know how outspoken he was when coaching, can you imagine how outspoken he will be as a pundit haha holy shark!!
FC players will all be another year older. I tip Nomads to beat them though. Nice to hear they are paying Glen what he wanted. (Does he have his coaching cert to coach in the MPL)?
Ill be surprised if Western stay up. I think Alex Pac is back in Chch and hopefully Hinton is fit for the season.
In saying that, Uni sound like they will be weaker.... Be interesting to see how their unproven coach will go. Someone said he plays 6 at the back..? True story?
Cant wait for the season. Will be a distance between the top 4 and bottom 4. I think any of the top four teams can win it.
I guess all Nomads need to do is get 5th and their coach will get coach of the season. Haha Mainland pisstake.
Andy Tuckey is looking for a club he said. Top goal scorer in the league last season. Good addition for Western haha
Wheres the train!!!? CALLING YOU OUT I miss you
I'm guessing the person writing this had never watched a game of Futsal because Iv watched the team play and there not a bunch of average players there decent. Let's be honest we know there Brazilians are there main players and without them there they would finish around 6th place. And also if you managed to watch a game you would see the (Lapslie's) are very overrated not that great. I mean one of them I think the younger of the two got the MVP for the whole league kinda shows how much of a joke the league is doesn't it?
What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?
Started a seperate tread for this but no harm posting here:
Here is a chance to help Sa'id Milton fund a movie about a piece of our sporting history the 1982 World Cup Campaign:

Spread the word and hopefully like me chip a few $$$ into the kitty.
Coastal to win the league. Jot that down AW82.
Is this just a cut and paste from 12 months ago?
How did you guys get on with seating arrangements for the Technical Areas?
Was that moving it to the other side of the pitch at foster?
New main pitch underway for Tulett Park won't be ready for most if any part of this season.
I didn't expect Ready Lawn to take nine months.
Home game venue [while pitch is out of action] according to the executive of the club is set for English Park.
This club needs home games to be at Tulett Park.
Won't help them in the quest to stay up in the MPL or have other club members getting behind the team if they move to EP.
Has created a talking point among the more established players of the first team who don't want a bar of playing home games at English Park.
