Jokes about smashing some school kids? Seriously?

You can ascertain what your opponent is afraid of by observing the means by which he attempts to frighten you

The only strings Andrew Barton will be pulling will be his hamstrings with all that excess weight he's carrying around ?

I feel he was the young lad that came on in the 2nd half which I allegedly may have fouled.

Any other results from pre-season game, I have seen the Waimak tourny results. I heard Western defeated Coastal, is this right?

I hear Ferrymead Bays and University played out a 1 - 1 results with Cashmere Technical defeating Nomads by a handful of goals, without Nomads scoring.

I was at the Coastal Spirit vs Western friendly and the word I'd use is disappointed. No Brazilians in sight, although there may have been an Argentinian who had a touch of flair. Hearing the Brazilians are midfielders, that's exactly what Coastal were missing yesterday anyway. They had two well known central midfielders starting who were completely outplayed, outrun and outworked by the tenacious Western pack. There's no doubt Coastal Spirit had and have the more high quality players, especially at the back and their (new?) front man, but Western seemed they wanted to prove an early point. Well played Western, fix up Coastal.

I watched Christchurch United play Cashmere. I think the game ended 5-2 in the end but CUFC looked a lot better than last week and I'd say have to be favorites to go up. Plus they have obviously recruited well. Interesting to see Henry f in the midfield as I thought he went to the states. Him along with his bearded midfield partner I thought were sharp. Cashmere had their reserve side out plus Oxley who I thought couldn't get out of the tall CUFC centerback's pocket. Only player I thought did well for the cashmere side was their young (ish) centerback named wardi (? Or something similar)

A few defenders will be happy to hear that Liam Oxley is off soon to live in Canada.

Does anyone know the points from Group A of the Waimak tournament? Did Coastal's result v Nomads stand or get overturned?

Permalink Permalink
about 9 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

Heard it was a TKO therefore no points

Permalink Permalink
about 9 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

If Coastal had points removed you would have thought the game would be awarded to Nomads 3-0.

Would be good to see the group table to see where teams stand and what potential match ups could be for the finals week

The results page says Pending and they also have the Selwyn v Parklands result the wrong way around

Ferrymead got some mouth watering short pass game going again. Looked reeealy good I reckon

Tech are about to announce a HUGE #9 signing to replace Liam.

A couple big names at Coastal falling out of favor and trialing for Bays.

Jacob Allen seen at Ferrymead training last night strutting his stuff. Reports that Ekow has lost the dressing room at Coastal with a number of players unhappy. Early derailment for the train before the season even begins?

Russell Brand and Zac Gordon reportedly two more players in deep discussion with the wealthy Christchurch United contingent.

Shawn O'Brien on the verge of a return to Tech

More to follow. Where has Messiah gone so wrong?

"deep discussion" must be like when "insiders reveal" in Women's Day. "I have no facts so I made it up just to be first" is what you meant there I think.

Derailment? I think players accept that sometimes better players are brought in and so others move on. Was Cash Tech falling apart when Shawn O moved to Coastal? No. He wasn't getting game time I guess, or couldnae understand the coach?, perhaps even wanted to play for some other club just for variety. It's just how it goes.

But to call it derailment is probably a bit too far. Nice pun though!

Hilarious how often "Messiah" gets talked about.

I did hear Russell brand is linked to Chch United though.

I also heard there are half a dozen new faces at Coastal

Is it true Coastal lost to Westerns back 6? Maybe there is some trouble going on haha

It's also hilarious how much Chch Utd gets talked about. I can't believe the Canty Utd players (who I've watched all season) are off to Div 1 however they weren't much to write home about anyways.

Pre-season has it's fair share of ins and outs and this one hasn't disappointed.

Bring on the season already, only 15 days to go.

Anyone keen on a tipping comp?

Just to reassure the Coastal faithful that I'll be remaining at the club this season, never in doubt!

The chat about it all has been looser than most of the Bays missus on a nightout in Empire - getting their pants pulled down just like their fellas.

Would rather play under the Messiah than trash for cash... How many bites...

Definitely up for a tipping comp. Will actually get involved this year.

Keen to give it another go. No doubt will be another donation to 'fantasy premier league/tipping comp/meat raffle/tab'. Even more demoralising when you know you are out of it after 2-3 weeks of a 20 week season too
