Well done to Selwyn the best team in the CCL by a large margin this season.

Has Dan Ede been invited to the Canterbury Dragons early week night training sessions yet?

I'm not saying i think he's good enough but if Christchurch United have a striker or whatever position they play down there then yes Dan should be getting the chance.

Unfortunately not, they are looking for someone with pace and goals is what has been said the last few years.

I have bigger things to worry about with SUFC over the summer

Nice reply Dan :) I've never had to chase you around the pitch or try and stop you scoring goals! Easily the easiest attacker to play against in the CCL (not!)

There's been enough mpl defenders doing that too over the years. Think he is over it now.

Excellent match report from Mainland Analyst.

0-0 at Kendall HT. terrifically boring game. Not one genuine chance. CUFC seem more intent on keeping the ball than creating chances.

Justice is served.

Halswell recovering well from a horror start to the season and finishing strongly, can they get up over the Rammed?

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

We'll have a big say in that as we play CHCH Utd this week followed by Halswell as their game in hand!

17 Aug 09:27

I'm following along from Auckland so please excuse my lack of knowledge...is it automatic promotion for Selwyn, or do they have to play-off with someone from Nelson?

Yes there is a play-off but none of the clubs playing in the Nelson Div 1 or the Marlborough Div 1 are seeking promoting so Selwyn is promoted without the need of any play-offs against the winner's of the Division's north of ChCh.

Halswell did have a horror start and in the first round were probably candidates for the wooden spoon but seemed to improve after some cash was converted.

Today's Results

ChCh United 3 Parklands 0

Halswell 3 Waimak 1

Selwyn 3 Burwood 3

Rumours that Halswell will be guaranteed 2nd place as Chch Utd fielded an illegal player in a game in round 3 which means they'll lose 3 points

Quality, seems united will never learn. Credit where it's due to Halswell, very good last 3 rounds to come from nowhere to 2nd. Considering they lost virtually entire squad would imagine they may be happy with that

19 Aug 06:50

Selwyn v Burwood 3-3

Very much an end of season feel about the game today. Good to see selwyn looking to play football on the normal bog that is Clare park. Also giving a first team debut to another 16 year old. Whose mum was ok with him playing. Selwyn were very much a depleted squad today having 9 squad members unavailable. Never looked like losing the game even after giving up a 3-0 lead.

Looking forward to watching this league unfold next year. Looks like western who will adapt in this league quicker than halswell. Halswell will fancy  going one better. Waimak will always be there or thereabouts without having an end product. And of course there is the chch saga. Parklands can beat anyone on there Day as they proved by beating selwyn. Then there is Burwood.

Well, for a club that has national league aspirations, clearly that strategy didn't work.

How does Selwyn plan to cope with Tech and Bays if they can't even beat Burwood? Also losing 7-1 to Western in one of the cups ?

The 2 out wide who do no defending whatsoever will certainly be found out. Don't get me wrong, decent enough but seem to be a bit lazy. Think Selwyn will be fine though, definitely deserved promotion and key now is how they recruit. Need to shore up some key positions for mine, if they do that then I'm sure they will be fine

I was left back for 5 minutes today ? and even made it back into my own half twice! Don't be too harsh

Actually didn't see this or the previous 2 games as away watching my daughter play. Very frustrating end to the season for our boys. Can vouch for the fact that no mothe permission required but we have fought the dispensation battle in recent years. All the best for next season. No doubt in my mind that you will be very competitive.
