I figured seeing we are close to the new season starting I'd fire up a new thread for Masters 1. Would be good to see comments on pitches, games etc.

First up though, would be great to see what teams are returning for the league, I know the Seatoun team will be returning.

Uni Stallions back for yet another season. Word has it there might be a <10 pax kick about session this weekend.

As the word 'training' is banned in our team, that's the closest we'll ever get!

yeah there was talk of canning it pre lock down as numbers were limited, seems people have had a rethink over the break and they will be putting a team forward which is great news.

absolutely, I rely on the winter footy to lose the summer weight gains, now I have an extra 2 kilo to lose on top of the normal summer gains.

Nothing confidential about it.  There'll be at least one Wests team in some form.  Applying for two teams but don't think that'll fly so will then have to work out within the club what we do.

June 6th first game, 12 team league playing one round (11 games) then top and bottom 6 play a second round between themselves (5 games) - all up 18 games this season, which isnt too bad.

Capital have been working on several scenarios for when we move to Level 1. The current earliest start date is June 6 with the season potentially running until October.

Wests team looks good. Couple that played CL last year and 2 former Chatham Cup winners in their first Masters season

half the Seatoun squad got together on Saturday at Seatoun park for a bit of a run, turned out ok, we weren't as unfit as we all thought - no injuries which is a positive.

Rumours of Seatouns death have been greatly exaggerated.

Wests and Tawa had a friendly yesterday in the rain.  Was a good enjoyable game played in good spirits.  Thanks to the Tawa boys for a good pre-season kick around!

What was the final score? Any standouts from either team?

Final score was 4-2 to Wests.  Mike Ramaekars for Tawa was a stand-out but don't think he'll be playing during the season!

Thanks for that. M1 is going to be even harder this year methinks with some teams dropping out and some strong outfits allegedly recruiting well in the off-season. Looking forward to it.

Being new to masters 1 I’d heard Wharfies dominated but 54 straight wins is impressive! Well done those lads!

we had wharfies over the weekend and they were a well oiled machine. They'd smashed 6 past us in the first half, thankfully they buttoned back in the second and we managed to hold them to just 3 in the second.

Not a great scoreline but I think for a team that had literally been thrown together over the Covid-19 break we had some moments.

One of my customers just popped in who's involved in the Wests team - they were 2-0 down at halftime, came back to lead 4-2 and conceded 2 goals in the last ten minutes.
