Five games is not good enough and this Forum indicates that the footballing community is not happy with it.

I think it would be better if the more serious offences where reviewed by a group of people that represented all the clubs in the Capital Football acted as the disciplinary tribunal. (say a board consisting of a member from every club)

From what Greenie has said it seems like the hearing was a joke and only Lower Hutt and CF were present.

I don't mean to offend individuals at CF but when only a few people make these decisions there is a far greater chance of personal biases affecting.  Im confident that only Lower Hutt are the people who are satisfied by this ruling.  NOT GOOD ENOUGH CF consider what the views of the football community you represent think.

Is she the same keeper who punched two players in five minutes in a game and got only a yellow? Last season or the season before?

I think so, my friend who plays for Upper Hutt said she was the one that got carded for punching one of their players a couple of years ago.

I'm interested in wether all you guys being so absolute black and white have never thrown a punch in your life? I don't know all the details but surely she had some provcation and it wasnt during the match - you're all very quick to judge

I haven't had a fight before. And there is nothing to justify punching someone. The only thing that means this isn't with the police is because it happen during sport. Which seems to mean that its ok. Yet she knock out someone cold that didn't even know it was coming.
It wasn't like the girl got punched after she said something, this happen after the game had finished.

at the final whistle when everyone was shaking hands she wandered up to the player - said 'Oi number 3' and then when she turned around she punched her in the face and knocked her out cold.
The answering being - dont be so quick to judge yourself

As this is after the game can someone lay a complaint to the police?

...regardless of the CF ruling?

I'm not judging - just didn't read exact details of what had happened but read loads of judgement and was wondering if people were being holier than thou or really had never ever thrown a punch or done something physical in anger

Sure I agree in that situation it was totally stupid. but I also own to not being pure as the driven snow myself. When I was boxing i got invited on to an inline hockey team simply cause they figured my skills wd be helpful tho I tended more to have the giggles than lose my temper. But some sports do encourage the aggression in players. i played very hard physical hockey as a teenager for years and wd have left some injuries in my wake but was they way my coach encouraged me to play and eventually I taught myself to mellow out and enjoy the game - but I was never as good

It's one thing to play a hard, physical game, and completely another to punch someone, especially in a cold and calculated manner like this.

CF should really be ashamed of themselves for this, this requires the stiffest available penalty.

Sport as a contest will always bring out niggles and wind ups.  A violent response (especially after the game) shows lack of control and verges on the criminal behaviour.  If you want that in sport you might as well just watch ice hockey.

she did. Lisa got a suspended sentence as far as I know. The fact that she got an 8 game suspension was taken into account - oh hang on..

was it the injured party who made the complain or someone else... Must admit I'm curious as to wether a legal complaint wd be as likely to be made if was a male punched male incident or wether its the fact that it was females involved that saw it taken to that level

I have thrown punches around when in (non-football related) high stress situations. And I got spoken to by the Plod for my trouble, and I'm glad to see that so did my fellow keeper in this situation.

Personally I would have thought a season ban would be fair enough, precisely because it was after the game. If she was being trolled during the game and had lashed out, I would have actually been more prepared to be lenient, but she waited, had time to think about it, and then unleashed the fist of fury. That shouldn't be tolerated. Doloras2011-05-17 15:49:25

Actually I would think it wouldn't even matter if it was during the game, assault is assault  whether it happens on a sports field or not.

I agree - punches don't belong on the football field in any case, but this situation is particularly revolting.

My brother got decked during a game of 7-a-side in England. Funny thing was that the next game was a team of off-duty cops and the guy got arrested before he even left the turf. Brother ended up with 6 stitches in his eye brow and the other guy (who had a very long record and a warrant out) got 6 months in prison and 200 hrs community service.

Its no longer a problem.

There is also a difference between a fight and being smashed in the head. If a fight starts with pushing and shoving both ways it indicates both parties are up for it. It is far worse if one person smashes another person in the head unsuspectingly.

Stealth you asked if any of us had punched someone before - my answer is yes, when I was younger, in a fight which I didn't provoke. But I have never punched someone in the head who was not expecting it.

It would also be the same difference if you went to the police. If you were punched unsuspectingly the police would take it far more seriously than if it happened in a fight/brawl involving equally willing participants.

For me, that is exactly why people are getting their backs up (or being holier than thou) about this.

I would have thought a season ban would have been a good result for the person in question. The ban that was handed down by CF was ludicrous. The fact the player protested that ban was also ludicrous.

I simply cannot believe the ban was reduced by CF after the protest was made.

Fuck this stupid game

It always surprises me whn guys find out I'm a fighter how many of them tell casual stories about being beaten up at some time or other... many males just seem to think that its just one of those crap things that occasionally happens and they never report it

Don't get me wrong... I love to fight - but with other fighters in the ring; matching skills/defence and technique. As a fighter I rarely fight out of the ring cause i'm just gonna get in extra trouble since have been registered and known to be skilled. therefore I try to only ever defend and figure its not my prob if someone is stupid enough to throw a punch at me... it's theirs and St Johns

I had a ref punch me in a tournament - took me a few seconds to get over the shock that a ref had straight jabbed me then once that wore off I woke up and whacked him back he ended up running off.

Just play rugby and it all part of the game. Tuilagi put in 2 lefts and a serious right that lifted the guy off the ground. He only got a yellow for it (10 mins in the sin bin) and so did the guy he hit.

Kevin Musc*nt vs Lisa Pahl IN A STEEL CAGE WITH WHIPS.

... oh dear, look at the poor Karori girl. Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. All she did was to think up the most cruel abuse you can possibly throw at a woman football player. Not that she deserved violence and I still think Pahl got off too lightly, but verbal abuse is also a problem.Doloras2011-05-18 09:54:39

my first thought is surely there are worse things you can say but i suppose anything along the lines of 'you play like a guy' is fairly abusive

Why is 8 games the upper limit? This is the problem IMO. If it had of been 2 years with a few months taken off for provocation it wouldn't have been such an issue. I guess the problem goes right to the top though, didn't Zidane get 3 games, if he hadn't retired, for that headbutt?

Karori players should take a look at their own behaviour as well, nothing verbal justifies a physical response but she has admitted to not behaving well herself either.
