Arakura vs Trentham

On a heavy Awakairangi pitch Arakura started very well, knocking the ball around with ease and creating trouble  around the Trentham area. It was totally against the run of play that Trentham took the lead. From a poor clearance from a corner, Steve drove the ball back into the penalty area, and Matt Henderson toe poked it thru the keepers legs to go 1.0 up.

Arakura continued playing their way and fully deserved their equaliser on the 20  min mark. Jackyo doing the honours after good all round teamwork. A clever turn at the top of the box from Jun, and a cool finish put Arakura 2.1 up with 10 left in the half, but Matt Henderson did likewise, after a goalie fumble for Trenthams cause so the teams went in all square.

A series of rash, late and over zealous challenges led me to issue a warning to all players that it will not be tolerated and the next foul commited would see that player carded. The next foul did not result in a card, but instead a second for Jun, who struck a beautiful 30 yard free kick into the bottom corner of Trentham goal.

At 3.2 in Arakuras favour I thought that Trentham would be put to the sword, but instead a rash challenge in the area gave Rick the opportunity to put Trentham level, which he did easily. William of Arakura was booked for his effort.

The next goal had a hint of controversy about it, due to Arakura's complacency. Arakura's captain Terry yells out in pain while clearing the ball, completely unopposed and even though Arakura twice had the  chance to kick the ball out so he could receive treatment, didnt, and when Trentham got possession put a ball into the penalty area which Matt Henderson beat both goalkeeper and defender  to knee home. Arakura players felt play should have been stopped, I explained that they should have kicked it out, that it wasnt a serious head injury, that it wasnt an injury caused by another player and Ive played it according to FIFA rules.

Five minutes later Henderson put the game safe for Trentham, chasing a long ball, holding off a defender, riding the late foul challenge. Before chipping the keeper for his fourth and Trenthams fifth.

The last  five minutes Arakura threw everything at Trentham but a series of good defending, luck, and wayward shooting made no change to the final score, 5.3 to Trentham.

After the game Terry approached me insisting I shouldve stopped play, I re explained why I didnt, he disagreed, saying it was a serious injury, an injury he had started the game with and I fully stand by my decision. He then condescendingly said Id reffed well and that the game is all over now so it doesn`t matter. Well if it didn`t matter why did he feel he had to revisit with me after the game. I was not impressed by someone who definetly should know better.

Trentham United  5

Arakura Asians  3

Halftime  2.2

Bookings;  William  (Arakura Asians)

it doesnt matter cz the game oready finished, cant do anything about it,
the reason to revisit the game is because you need to know the different kind of idea from the player on the field as a ref. I m ref as well, I care all the player on the pitch and this situation would not happen when I ref the game.
Even I stop the game, opp team can have a drop kick back and both teams will be happey enough. Sometimes, still some different between WC and SUNDAY LEAGUE hahaha...

The Pen given to Trentham is a diving, that Trentham player agreed with as well. Our player wont say anything cz b4 the game I let them know to respect the ref all the times.

Good job Ollie, at the same time you can still listen to other ppl said.

I see the Womens Div 4 Tawa team was set to play on Kura at 1pm on Sunday (It has been cancelled. It also appears one of the Porirua teams was set to play on Kura at 1pm.

So if both games were on, who gets the field?

That's a tricky one as teams organise their own venues and I assume that Porirua Club guys would have had it booked weeks ago. That would have needed to be clarified by PCC who would then tell Cap football that it is already booked.

Do those getting booked need to pay any fine or is it just a dishonourable mention?
Permalink Permalink

Its a fine. The teams are responsible for paying them so it's in their own interests to have players that are polite in discussing their opinions with the refs.

Wallaceville vs Porirua Club

Well it wasn`t raining at 1pm, and it didnt rain at half time, but that was about the only reprieve of  rain we got. While Wallaceville have improved greatly in the last three weeks, they still give away soft goals at regular intervals hence them being behind 3.0 at halftime. Wallacevilles offside tactic works well when everyone is focused, but it only takes one  lapse of concentration and its custard.
Chopper opened the scoring on the 15th minute mark, scoring a 20yard free kick over the despairing young  keeper. The keeper was still dwelling on that 5mins later when going to clear a through ball, missed it and  Daniel tapped home. Rob finished off a sweeping move with his first touch after coming on as a sub to give Porirua the comfortable lead they deserved.

Wallaceville scored first in the second half, a well constructed team goal finished off by Tom. Porirua were rattled for a while and  twice Wallaceville could have cut the deficit further, but didnt are were made to rue their misses.

The heavy pitch, fitness, all combined against Wallaceville and after Chopper added two more, Daniel completed his hat trick the result was never in doubt. Jason Stone capitalised on a defence lapse and sprinted away to round the keeper and slot home a consolation, but Porirua had the last say just before the end.

Porirua were a joy to ref, none of the needling and aggression of previous seasons, and their football benefited because of it. Karl ran the show from centre midfield, and along with Chopper had strong solid performances in a winning side.

Sunday Blazers vs Porirua Cry

Final score = Blazers 1 - Porirua Cry 0

The ground had a lot of surface water. Both teams and I, were happy to play the fixture in the current pitch conditions. I advised both captains to chat to their teams about keeping slide tackles down to a minimum and to be aware of the ball slowing down over wet patches, causing tackle timing issues.
Upon entering the field, a player from Sunday Blazers kicked off the game with fantastic Klinsman style forward dive through a big puddle in the middle of the pitch. This received applause and laughter.
From then on the game was much the same. It must have been very difficult to play in, but both team continued with high spirits and produced a display of enjoyable football. The Sunday Blazers were on top mostly, but only managed a goal 5mins from full-time.

A yellow card was awarded in the second half to a Porirua Cry player for 'Pushing'. I did not take a name as my book was drenched and my pencil would have destroyed it.

Trentham Utd  0  vs  Marauders 3

Played at Awakairangi, 6 June 2010

1 caution was given to Trentham for a dangerous tackle.  Not too bad considering conditions.  Goals scored in the 6th, 15th and 52nd minutes.

Match report Tuskan Raiders vs Porirua CryovacThis had to be one of the easiest games to ref, even with the ground conditions and rain to deal with it was a clean game. No niggle or dangerous tackles to deal with and both teams generally accepting my decisions even if they didn't agree with them.
Tuskan Raiders started with 2 goals inside 10 minutes with the score staying that way until 5 minutes from half time.

10 minutes into the second half Porirua conceded a penalty which was converted. At this stage the score didn't really do justice for Porirua who also had chances of their own but just couldn't finish them off. As a result started taking pop shots from well out but never really troubling the keeper.

After Tuskan Raiders scored again after 30 minutes Porirua seem to drop their heads and conceded another 3 goals in the 40th, 42nd and 44th minutes.
Unfortunately I did not get the names of the scorers due to the weather and not wanting to try writing names on wet paper.

A good question. I suppose it would work properly if there had been no cancelled rounds.
Wellington Cambodia vs Porirua was cancelled. Sladden under water and Blazers v Arakura abandoned due to dangerous mental conditions and won't be replayed.

One round a a game to go before the league is split into top 6 and bottom 4.
Top 6 keep their points and play another 5 rounds.
Bottom 4 start from scratch and play 3 rounds plus the qualifiers for the Cup.
All teams should get at least 5 more games.

Hi all

There was a pair of sneakers left behind at Rongotai after today's games. They look quite flash and I'm sure would be missed. They were on the balcony of the pavilion.

Could you please ask your players if they own them. In order to claim them, they need to say the brand of the shoes and the colour. We'll then sort out how to get the shoes to the owner.

NO. It's not to be repeated in case other teams want to join the league. We don't want them to know what a good time we are having especially with the cup rounds coming up soon.

Match Report - Trentham United (3) vs Porirua Club (2)

A beautiful calm sunny day(yes really) greeted the  two teams on a heavy Trentham Memorial Park pitch today and turned in a great even contest of which Trentham finally prevailed.

Porirua started off very well passing the ball accurately and created a few early half chances without success. It was totally against the run of play that Trentham took the lead with a well constructed goal. Keith won the ball at the back and played a good ball forward to Adam. Adam turned away from his marker well and played a neat 1-2 on the edge of the box and calmly slotted the return pass past the keeper.

That scoreline remained until halftime and the second half started much like the first,  Porirua knocking the ball around well without really threatening. Daniel scored the equaliser for Porirua after jinking past a couple of defenders before also slotting the ball past an exposed Fitz in Trenthams goal.

Matt Henderson added pace and guile to Trenthams  attack and on the hour they regathered the lead from an unlikely source. Adam cleverly held  off three defenders on the sideline then broke away from them all to put in a perfect  cross for Mark Findlay (sloth) to Schneiderlike put a firm header into the net.

Porirua were livid with themselves and fought for every ball, throw, 50/50 and equalised when evergreen Eddie created space for himself and drilled a shot into the  near post top corner.

At this stage a draw looked the most likely and fair result until, Matt Henderson summoned up the energy to have one more long distance run at the tiring Porirua defence. After accelerating away from his marker, riding an attempted foul, and having two stabs to beat the keeper, the ball eventually made it into the goal to give Trentham Utd in their new blue shirts a 3.2 lead with five minutes to go.

Porirua had a handball claim turned down, missed two free kick  opportunities in the dying stages to leave empty handed, dejected and angry to the point where the ref was not granted a thank you cheer at the end.

Arakura 3 Porirua Cryovac 2.
Game was played on a very soft and muddy pitch with Porirua starting the scoring after only 5 minutes however Arakura immediately hit back 1 minute later. The game went from end to end when Porirua scored again after 38 minutes which is how the score stayed right through the first until 15 minutes into the Second half.
Mid way through the second a fight broke out after a foul from Porirua led to some pushing and shoving and then punches being thrown by a player from each team resulting in both players being sent off.
This turned the game a little sour resulting in 3 yellow cards, 1 for a dangerous tackle and 2 for unsporting behaviour.
Both teams were awarded a penalty, Arakura first when an attacker was accidentally brought down in the box, and then Porirua when an Arakura defender wrapped his arms around a Porirua attacker from the free kick.
Both goals well saved by both keepers.
Arakura took the lead with 15 minutes to go which they held until the end.
Cards were as following

Porirua

Yellow, Porirua Keeper for unsporting conduct.

Red, Don for Fighting

Arakura

Yellow, Jack Yo for a dangerous tackle.

Yellow, Te for unsporting conduct.

Red, Number 3 for fighting

TRENTHAM 3 PORIRUA CLUB 2

History has been made this is the first time in 12 years that we have not only beaten, but got any points against Porirua (we have had a number of close losses). Weve managed to topple every other team at some stage, but we have finally overcome our nemesis in what was a cracking game at TMP. It was the first outing for the new strip and we certainly christened its well (well done Ronny/Tony for the AJs Army label but the names for you all pretty much say it all Caveman, Mr Trentham, Chopper, Keza, Sloth, Herc, Bullfrog, Bates, Reggie, Burden, ROLALERORO, Legend, Charmed One, Dominus, Richy, News, Tank then the three spares Too Old, Too Fat, Too Slow).

Porirua started the game at a cracking pace and dominated everything for the first 20 minutes, but could not create any good chances and were shooting from distance in the main. Against the run of play we got a well taken goal from Adam, after good leadup work from Keith and Mark Finlay. This seemed to motivate Porirua even more, but we had a determined streak about us and rebuffed all attacks and went to the break with a 1-0 lead. Like they did in the first half Porirua came out firing again and got the game back to level pegging.  The game was fiercely competitive, without going over the top, except for the once a game Mark Hurly moment, which Daniel ended up copping the recriminations of. (credit to Ollie for another well refereed game Ollies match report which is/will be posted on the Yellow fever forum is attached). We went ahead midway through second half, with Mark F completing a well taken header off an excellent cross (a non toe poke goal had to see it to believe it myself). With about 15 to go, Porirua equalized after a defensive lapse by Mark F, allowing Eddie to escape his marking and receive pass and blast a shot past Greg on the near post (luckily we got the result Fitz otherwise there could have been an enquiry). The last 10 saw both teams push for the winner and after a great through ball, Matty outstretched the defense to slot the winner past the keeper, which resulted in a deafening roar!  Our great defense (all players on the field not just the backs but even strikers applying pressure off the ball) kept Porirua shooting from distance in the main. With a bit of scrambling at the end, we managed to hold on for a historic win.

It was impossible to single out any one of you lads for player of the day quite simply you were all awesome. This was no doubt the best game that I have seen you guys play. The league has any number of good teams in it, so a result like this, which keeps us at 3rd place in the league, with some very good teams behind us, confirms that you guys have been playing a good standard of football this season.  Keep up the good work fellas!

Other highlights included:

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Kerry - late to game (train/bus problems very bad planning especially when relying on Stewys trains..

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Ricky otherwise known as the burden, not making the game after a big night previously you owe us a big game this weekend lad!

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Nick again using the family jewels to block a cross you have to stop this bad habit lad.

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Mark F/Stew - as noted by Ren "the solidest wall in history"?

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Stew for going the wrong way in the same wall (left does not equal right lad)

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Greg - beaten on near post for 2nd goal.

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Mark F - away with fairies not marking player for 2nd goal.

<!--[if !supLists]-->         <!--[endif]-->Steve - rebuttal when subbed off with 10 to go then got chance to get back out on field due to injury and was both offside/missed goal scoring chance.

Match Report - Sunday 11th July 2010

Shamrocks vs Porirua CRYOVAC

Rongotai College

Porirua kicked off. Both teams seemed well set up for a good game of football with plenty of substitutes and enough to provide me some assistants on the sidelines. The first half was fairly even if it wasn't for two cracking goals from Porirua. The first one hit well from outside the box and the second one a free kick struck even better by the same player. The Shamrocks lifted their game towards the end of the first half and were unlucky not to get one back.

The second half started and it seemed to me that both teams had decided to mix things up a bit. Some interesting football was played by both teams but ultimately it was Porirua who capitalized on their chances and some skillful play from their centre back, mixed in with a bit of luck, allowed Porirua a three goal advantage. Despite their best efforts the gap was too large for the Shamrocks who eventually scored but even that was cancelled out by another great finish from the man with the golden toes to make his hatrick.

All round a great game with some great weather.

Final score 4-1 to Porirua
