How many of the Arakura players will make the Team Wellington Squad?

Never mind the TW squad what about the Snday league squad to take on the mighty South Africa in the Upper Hutt Multi Ethnic Cup this Sunday?

On form and other bribes my pick are:

Keepers: the guy from Shamrocks or the keeper from Justice League

Defenders:
Hard News and wiry begger from Trentham (#666)
Griff and James from the Blazers
Hard news

Halves:
Stan from Raiders
Bart from Shamrocks
South American guy who falls down alot and wins penalties for Arakura
Alain from Blazers

Strikers:
Roger from Raiders
and (ahem) Craig from Blazers

No room for Morry!

...and I'm barely worth a half, let alone two.

Mark is the 666... he really is a superb defender for a man of his age and size.

well that works then, if he puts you in twice, 2 halves make a whole (or should that be hole?) dont they?

I've just found this thread and read the shocking news about giving my team (Justice League) a lose against Wallaceville all because we didn't use Sladden Park!! If you want to play on a pitch with swimming pools in either goal mouth and centre-circle, then be my guest, but we tried to find a pitch that was playable for that match. The pitch we ended up playing on had bird sh*t alllll over it, and we still had to play on it because it was the only one avaliable! We even used the correct nets and corner flags from Sportzone, so don't tell me we went to any old pitch that had nets. ALSO, whoever the idiot was that told you we were a Petone team is out and out lieing.

I can understand Sportzone getting angry at us for not really having a pitch, but it has to be said that our manager, Duncan, was pretty poor in terms of communication. We'll be much more professional next year and have a squad ready already.

Sorry for the rant, but that was totally unfair to dock us those points. Wallaceville are crap and we proved we were better than them, even if we didn't do too well ourselves against the other teams.

When you don't pay for a home pitch you don't get to choose where you play. Duncan had plenty of time to find one before the season kicked off. It's cost Arakura $770 for Justice League to play at Sladden and an extra $110 for not playing at Sladden.

Brian Gardener will be looking after the WSFL Team this week at the UH Multi Ethnic Tournament.
Anyone can let me know if you want to be in the team. First game this Saturday at 2pm vs South Africa.

What did our subs pay for?? (just asking because Duncan has been useless)
Permalink Permalink
over 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
$50 was the admin fee and the rest was for referees, trophies and ground hire for the cup finals which is separate from your league ground hire. $200 was paid back to the team for the games you provided a ref for and another $150 to the teams that reffed for you when your team was supposed to provide a ref. A pretty good deal I think.

yeh thats an awesome deal. let me apologise for our lackluster manager, we'll be more professional about it next year for sure because I'm taking over management, lol. Do we get assigned a pitch or can we find one ourselves?

The team is supposed to find your own. I offered Duncan Sladden Park cos he didn't have a ground at the start of the season and I wasn't confident I could get 2 Arakura teams every week. I suggested a few parks and schools in town but i'm not sure what he did about that. It'll be bloody good to keep you guys in the league. We are trying to increase team numbers and get to 2 divisions so we can get a bit more consistency in the league.

it'll be great to play again next year, and having 2 divisions would be brilliant. if you get enough for 2 divisions, then please put us in div2 so we can proove ourselves rather than get beaten each and every week.

I thought you guys did alright considering you were a new team. If you beat Wallaceville 12-0 then you should be in the top division if we get enough teams for 2. Most of your scores were pretty close.

Yeah Justice were good fun

Blazers had the honour of playing you first and you were disorganised, our second game was closer, and in the Quarter final you competed well against us (1-0 at HT) until we galloped away in the last 30 mins

So would be good to have you back next year

Bump.

Folks, if anyone is keen on diving in it's a great little competition.  We could do with some new blood, so if your 5-a-side team is a little over-subscribed have a think about a Sunday league season.

Cheaper than a Saturday, but I say play both and if I can play both no one else has an excuse not to...

Sunday Blazers jump back in the fire
thats right folks, legendary bridesmaids the Sunday Blazers are back for another crack at the title

Led by Conrad "  Star dust Cowboy" Coomb- the Blazers will be without talismanic hippy leader James "the good oil' Coyle, but will look to finally knock Porirua off their perch.

I concur with HN, Saturday and Sunday double headers are a lot of fun and make for a cheap date on Sunday afternoon, as 180 minutes of football means two beers are all that is required for unconsciousness

its hard to make that change after playing with rolling subs all year..especially when you play Sat AND Sunday

Oh dear. Newlands 8-1

They turned up with players under-20, not sure we had any under 30 as all our Under-30 players have bailed on us this season.  We should have been up by 3 at the half but butchered a stack of chances, then they finished over the top apparently.  I bailed for Masterton at the half to go and see the Chatham Cup match.

In my defence I was injured and not playing (not that I for an instant think I'd have made a difference).
