Some good young players in that Sanatan side.  Finished over the top of Trentham last week in a big way.

Can't convince the lads that we should put out a Central and Cap. prem selection in Trentham shirts against the 'rua this week.

And News's 50 tonne walks on the sideline...

By the way DKP I seem to recall you loitering in an advanced right wing position most of the day...not a lot of running involved!

Was the left wing. Was merely lulling the defenders into a false sense of security before blitzing them.

My second half was crap by my admission. My attempted assist on the goalline. Jesus.

Trentham United vs Porirua Club

On a slightly heavy pitch but a perfectly calm day for football, an excellent contest between the home side and the ever competitive Porirua Club took place. After winning the toss Porirua immmediately started their passing game and put a lot of early pressure on Trentham. Trenthams defence well lead by Carey stood firm, and after 10 minutes constructed their own passing movement which swept the length of the field and was well finished off by Davy, and in the process had Bazza in the Porirua goal breakdancing in his attempts to thwart the opportunity.

Undeterred Porirua kept at their game plan of passing the ball but after 20 mins a clumsy challenge resulted in Trentham being awarded a penalty, and unlike against Newlands, Steve put it away with aplomb to the keepers right.
This riled Porirua and they intensly pressured Trentham goal with no success. With 5 minutes of the half left Porirua scored a brilliant goal from 25 yards after a succession of corners was only half cleared. This really put the confidence back into Poriruas play and on the stroke of halftime equalised. The everessent Eddie created danger with his trickery down the right, and after 3 shots, 2 saves, and a woodwork hit, they finally managed to get the ball into the net. 2.2

The second half started with Porirua vigourously attacking Trentham from all directions but to no avail, and to make matters worse for Porirua, Keith and Purviss from Trentham were looking dangerous on the counter attack. Porirua also had the misfortune to watch Eddie slice a penalty wide and the pressure started to tell on the boys from Mana.

On the hour though a huge sigh of relief went through the Porirua camp and their travelling supporters, an excellent passing movement down the right involving Eddie, Karl, Quinny and Rossi ended when a great far post cross from Karl was headed in perfectly from the late running left back Tommy who was very impressive all day. Trentham battled on  gamely untill after another impressive passing movement, this time down the left, Razor skipped inside the last two defenders and finished emphatically with his right foot.

A great game to referee, a true result, a hard but fair contest, with football the winner. What a beautiful game. Final score 4.2 to Porirua Club.

Wow.

Blazers finally find Mojo, and/or a striker.
Porirua Club continue their iffy form, and Raiders didn't even have Sacha Nathu to bobsled o their behalf.
Wallaceville set a new record of cpitulations against the all new, all scoring Justice League.
Shamrocks continue run of form at home.

Ahh- the Sunday League, as mysterious as the deep blue briney

Trentham vs Northern United
Awakairangi #1 8/6/08

A beautiful if cold Upper Hutt day greeted the two teams in the bottom three of the table on a tacky Awakairangi pitch. Reasons that cannot be answered it would take a full 25 minutes before the first strike was placed on either goal.

For all of Northerns passing and build ups in the middle third of the pitch, their strikers continual infringements of the offside law thwarted many an opportunity. However, after being offside 3 times in a minute on the edge of the Trentham penalty area, Northern were then gifted a golden opportunity when Trenthams centre back tried to take a quick free kick the third time and passed it straight to a Northern player who slipped it to their striker who calmy shot home.

Five minutes later and Northern were 2 nil up. A fine team move down the left flank resulted in a pulled back cross to Northerns centre midfielder who slotted the ball past the keeper into the far post.

Trentham United made a few perssonel changes at half time and fifteen minutes in pulled a goal back, Keith caused the initial panic in Northern defence and after a few passes around the penalty area, Mark swept the ball past the despairing dive of the keeper.

Northerns burly second half striker substitute made the game safe within the next 10 minutes, first after rounding the keeper, hitting the crossbar from five yards then netting the rebound, and then finishing a sweeping move through the heart of Trenthams defence.

There was still time left for 2 bookings to Northern United, a missed penalty from Trentham, and a rolling maul from Northern which resulted in one of their strikers entering the maul from the wrong side, and a bum clearance off the line in the dying seconds.

All in all, Northern deserved their win, 4.1
