"Tony" is not giving points to teams that haven't paid their fees!

Saw Micheal from Blazers in NEwtown New World

Said Tuskans nicked the full three with the last kick of the game

bloody typical!

That is understandable, seems for years teams have been slack at paying.

Do they get their points back once paid, or do they start from scratch? I say make them start from scratch

Not that slack but Yes I like that idea starting from scratch but it leaves Porirua top again

Thats great  we get hammered by Newlands with their blind ref and we jump 3 places on the table. Makes it seem all worthwhile now.

Even if we had eleven we have have been struggling to play against 12. The thing was they were good enough to beat us without help from the ref.

Dosent matter now though as we are ahead of them on the table.

The funniest part was when I was chopped from behind, picked the ball up to take a quick free kick and then spent the next 5 minutes arguing with the ref, who was on some power triip telling me to play to the whistle, the refs wife (Some scruffy dude playing up front) and then he gave me the free kick anyway.

You are a rotten fish. You should have been there if you want the answer to that commercially sensitive information.

To get enough teams to make a national competition!

A quick Q Tony: are you looking for new teams for next season? I know I'm asking half way through the current season, but I have a group of at least 15 players who are keen to create a team affiliated with Habit Gym on Willis St (my employer) and my boss is keen to pay the registration fees etc, as long as we can gain entry next year. Also, do we have to find our own home ground or do you sort it out?

Always looking for new teams! You can find your own ground or I can help you out with that to.

I hear the teams will get points back once they pay, is that really a good idea? teams then know they have till the end of the season regardless.

Maybe deducting a point for every week no payment is made is a good idea rather than giving all points back.

Nobody knows the date the fees have to be paid before points are lost. For most of them the disappointment of winning a game and rocketing down to the bottom of the table is enough to stir them along. Since then we have had 4 teams pay their fees and generally because the players get onto the team managers about it.
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
If you have no set date to pay them then you should not be taking points of anyone.
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Why not? All their invoices say within 7 days and were sent out on the first week. There's nothing like an obvious reminder to everyone involved that fees are overdue and no team has complained.
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Well then if the invoice says seven days they know, therefore they should be docked accordinly, to give full points back just seems a tad unfair on those that pay properly.

teams will know that they may have points taken but if they pay them when they want they will get them back anyway so there will be no issue to them.

Permalink Permalink

Why should the teams be punished for the inefficiency of the team management. The punishment and wake up call is to see the points table with their name at the bottom with no points.
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Why put please pay within 7 days?

Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Because some teams do. Hence there rapid rise to the top of the table.
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
If you start adding and deducting points because you've paid it just becomes Indoor football where you get 20 points for paying your fees instead of what you do on the pitch.
Permalink Permalink
almost 18 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Ok well your choice, but I hope you realise teams now know they can wait till the end of the season to pay and they will get their points back anyway without it affecting them in anyway.

You seem to be under the impression that the teams are there to try and rip off the league which is not the case. Even though I run the league I do so because the teams have asked me to do it and they want to have a league. If the teams don't pay their fees then their referees don't get paid.
Permalink Permalink

Taking their points away in front of the Wellington Football community is bad enough but being behind Wallaceville on any points table would be enough to make anyone cough up. Imagine being behind a team that has scored 7 goals and let in 102!

I hope you didnt pay the ref we had last Sunday. I think the other team had already paid him enough.

Which was the case last year, though all the ref's didnt get paid till late in the season, inc the clubs that supplied a ref, their ref had to wait even though their team paid at the beginning.

Anyway, like I said your call I just hope if thats how it is that it stays like that and that if changes are made to payment schedules then teams know what is going to happen if they dont pay before you take action.

It seems that you are the only one who as an issue with it. Why would the teams want to know anyway. they only show interest in turning up on a Sunday to play and checking the results on Sunday night. Last Monday we had the Cup draw with 3 teams represented amongst the crowd of 4.
It seems that the only interest that is created outside of playing and looking at the results is when an occasion such as this occurs. It has had the desired result without any problems.

The Arakura game V Porirua was a close game, seems like the league this year is going to be a lot closer than previous years.

Just a pity teams like Harcourts are no longer there, who pulled out with them 2 years ago? Hopefully more teams will see how competitive the league is and more will join.
