Dislocated knee cap for Wests keeper I'm pretty sure

Wests keeper had what I assumed to be a suspected broken leg, due to the fact he was lying on his back for about 20-25mins... but he was able to limp off to the ambulance so it probably wasnt that serious. It all came from a sh*te passback to the keeper, then a 50-50 challenge between the keeper and a striker... it was a solid challenge, all you could hear was that crunch of boot-to-shin pad. Then the Nth Wgtn parents had a moan, and some inconsiderate bitch yelled out "and the best award goes to...". Pretty disgusting stuff from the parents when it was obvious that he was in a lot of pain.

Then later on a Nth Wgtn player ran to keep the ball in and twisted his knee, and screamed pretty loud. He already had a knee brace on, and was going on about his knee cap... nothing worse than recurring injuries.

Sounds like the only thing interesting from that game was the drama.

I must say though, After our game today, It was obvious to me that the league can devlop a lot more in the future.

I hope the points get reset this week though with the introduction of stop out.
That would do us a whole lot of good.

Yeah Nth Wgtn have got a lot stronger as well, although I think the Wests side were a little depleted today ... but even against Petone last week (or the week before?) they looked better.

I have mentioned it the Norths Coach, I'm hoping that is was just a throw away remark before anyone realised the player was injured. I believe that the aftermath of the incident was a little heated with the Wests assistant coach being sent off. It sounds like the Ref handled things pretty well in the aftermath though.

My understanding is that the Norths player dislocated his kneecap but am not sure how serious it is. Hopefully  the Wests Keeper & the Norths player are ok

Nope.

Good game today Teza.
Here is my view. We played well and kept most of the position, but you played the lines well (Mainly down my side, Ugh) and were able to get those passes through the defense when we weren't holding the offside line. Plus our midfield was a tad slow at getting back, And I'm not the slimmest or quickest of players.
I was sure that we were looking at a win when we went up 3-0. Just unfortunate that we can't ever get defenders to play defense or sort it out.

Pitch was great and playing with proper refs and linemen was a lot better.
Wish we got them every week. And that pitch every week.

If I get put in defense again because we are just short, f**k em.

It was good to put a face to the name.

Overall it was almost the old clichd game of 2 halfs. Your guys played very well the 1st half & fully deserved their lead. I was really pleased that my guys fought back the way they did, although I'm going to claim that it was due to my inspired substitutions

It was a good game with some good skills shown by both teams and had  a good eb and flow to it, Wharfies made a really good effort to get back into the game but were denied a number of times by some scrambling defence on our part. The Wharfies keeper had a superb game and made a few great saves, I was very impressed with him.

It was also played in pretty good spirits by both sides (which after our last encounter was good to see).

The pitch surface was fantastic, although the fact that the ball didn't bounce off at all sorts of angles like a normal grass pitch caught the players out early on. It did however allow both teams to put together some really good quick passing moves.

Good luck with your next gameStefan.

Just confirming that Wests goalkeeper dislocated his knee, rather than a broken leg.

Wests - North Wellington game at Newlands ended with a 3-1 win to Wests. Not a spectacular game; lots of missed chances for Wests and it was 0-0 at the break. We played better 2nd half, but the game ended on a bit of a sour note with a bad head clash right on fulltime which resulted in a fair bit of blood.

Evauld came for a look, we were winning.
Oska tried giving me defensive advice at half time then buggered off.

f**k that game. Im more angry at myself than the fact we lost.

So you lost the game? What was the final score?

Sad to hear of 2 ambulance trips turning up at Endeavour Park for a Wests v North Wlg U21 game. Come on guys, it is football not gladiator-fighting off! Those involved in the aftermath should have a good look at themeselves and come to terms quickly that football should be played with skill and not with brutality! Hurting another player is definitely not part of the game. Disgusting and disappointing!

for the nth wgtn player he was just running to get the ball to take a quick throw in and went onto the cricket block. he already had a knee brace on I think and he slid and must have put it out again

4-6/7? Not sure.

So thats two dislocated knees so far this season in a league with four teams.

Dislocated knee = meG**uch.

Watched Porirua 1-0 Petone on Sunday morning.  Was pretty even except for PJ Iosefo who, when he fancies it, tears that league to shreds.  He was the difference.

For Petone it was another good game from the centre back pair - Jamie Gibbon and Scott Tyson.  Lack a bit of punch up front though Petone - not a lot of natural forwards in the club at the moment.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I dont recall anyone being sent of? If anything both coaches kept it rather cool. It was just the parents, as it usually always is with this standard of football.

I was told that the Wests Assistant Coach was ordered off but refused to go, not sure as to the whys and wherefores though.

Is it true that another team is joining the U21 League? If true, that will be wonderful.

Can coaches refuse to go after they are told by referees? If this is the case, will the Capital Football do anything about it or just let write rules with no teeth whatsover?

Who was that coach from Wests who was told to go on Sunday? Give us a description.

Yes, Stop Out have entered and have their first match this weekend. And because of that, Wharfies have a bye.

UNDER 21 A:
Petone               __    North Wgtn City      __    Petone 2 (11am);
Wests Rovers         __    Porirua Leste        __    Endeavour 1 (11am);UNDER 21 B:
Wests Knights        __    North Wgtn Rovers    __    Endeavour 2 (11am);
Stop Out             __    North Wgtn United    __    Hutt Park 2 (11am);

Not sure who the coach was, information told to me was that it was the assistant coach. Not sure what will happen if the report is accurate but I guess as it was an official ref there will be a report.

The good thing is that the keeper hasn't broken his leg. The other thing is we all know how emotions can run high when one player comes off worse in a 50/50 challenge so it may have been a storm in a tea cup.

Yes it is good news about Stop Out coming into the league, now we just have to get the rest of the clubs to stump up with a team as I'm sure there are many players around in Wellington 16-21 who aren't in their clubs 1st or 2nd teams & want to play at a reasonable level against their peers.

We need to get big clubs like Upper hutt, Lower Hutt, Olympic etc. involved.

We were looking at it at Naenae late on in pre-season but just didn't quite have the resources.  We might try next season and get on to it earlier.

Great stuff. It would be cool to have some kind of U21 pre season cup competition as well.

There are some very good players in the 2 leagues, I have been impressed with the quality of some of them.

It is  a good conduit for clubs to have a look at young players and begin to integrate them into the wider club structure i.e. we (Norths) have a couple of the U21s train with the 1st team each week. It give those guys not quite ready for senior football a glimpse of the level they need to be at & can also help the club uncover some future 1st/2nd team players early.

True.

But only a small number of the players in this league will have left school.  From the games I've watched most of the players at 15-18 year old.

Actually I completely disagree:
1: Some players aren't yet mature enough to play Senior football at 17,18 (thats physically & mentally)
2: Some players still want to play with their mates.
3: Others just haven't even thought about playing at a higher level or thought of concentrating on football
4: As you know breaking into a team is hard in some clubs what with vested interests, personalities coach favourites etc.

Players develop at different speeds, some are ready to get into the top teams at 18 others not until they are 20-21. These leagues give them the chance to develop whilst playing at a reasonable level.

yeah that was kind of what I was getting at. This league was built on the premise of capturing people not already playing the game on weekends ie left school. These kids are prob already playing for their school.

Yes.  Agree that the premise was a bit farked and things have now moved on.

Now it's more a chance to keep kids in your club as they move through the school system.  Which, imho, is a better use for the league anyway.

Teza, never say never, but Greenie is right, MOST players by the age of 18 who are going to be future first team players are already in and around the first team setup.  If you look at most clubs in Wellington there is a good smattering of young players throughout the first and second team squads.  While the odd one or two might come through late into the first team it's definitely the exception to the rule.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Yes it was a tight game. I thought we could've got up for an equaliser late in there we had a few chances. Your observations are quite right though I think.

Great suggestion re a pre-season U21 tournament. Or even  end of year U21 Tournament.

Yellow Fever U21 Tournament? It can be regional and then North Island etc. This way, Yellow Fever may help directly in cultivating next lot of players for World Cup 2014!!!

There's already Napier U19s and Taupo U17s, so not heaps of room in the market for another post-season comp.

Pre-season it's a bit tricky to find grounds.

How many U21s would end up going to Napier though?

A straight knock out 'any club who wants to enter can' type of shindig would be alright, gives all those who missed out on U19s something extra to look forward to. Maybe a Harcourt Cup type format (do they still do that?). A single day event.

Harcourt Cup is two days.

I can only speak about Petone with any authority but all of the players in our 21s will either be in our 19s or 17s, and will play in the Ivan England (last year we entered two teams), so there'd be no demand from us for ANOTHER end of season youth tournament.

Pre-season maybe.

We have added another team to our grade.
I was told that the two leagues would not merge either because there would be 3 North Wellington teams all up.

Haven't heard anything more about yours yet. Nothing about new teams either.

Pretty sure your right about the leagues not merging.
I'll continue to try and find out what is happening in our division now that Stop Out are in.

It will be interesting to see this weekend what their team is like, anyone got any insights into the quality of their team?
