Its a vicious circle I guess, we want more people playing the game but as a result there will be more pressure on the grounds. At least the new artificial turf will take a little of the pressure off.

I would be interested however in finding out if the normal regrading rules apply for players coming down from clubs 1st and second teams & playing into the U21 teams given that the U21 league plays under Senior competition rules and not Junior rules

Probably do although I bet CF's rules don't provide for it.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Pretty sure your right about the leagues not merging.

I'll continue to try and find out what is happening in our division now that Stop Out are in.

It will be interesting to see this weekend what their team is like, anyone got any insights intothe quality of their team?

We are trying to get another warfies team together to avoid byes every few weeks. If you have any players you think could go to that and are willing to lost them to us. It would be a big help. as we don't have anyone at the moment.

Wests A 3-1 Porirua

Hopefully a sign of things to come in future years. Probably the highest standard of football Ive seen so far in the entire U21 competition. That PJ dude from Porirua looked a class above everyone else on the pitch.

Bum, especially after our poor game today

Stopout are a reasonable side, well drilled & have a good passing game through the midfield. We didn't get much change out of the ref but no excuses Stopout were worth the points.

They won it in midfield, my boys will need to tighten up in that area and boy will they work on it this week at practice.

The reset of points does make the league interesting though.

Gives us a new life.

Cheers for that insight about them too. Friday was out first training session so we can finally work on some things.

A good game today Stop Out v the guys from Nth Wellington, played in good spirit and with a good quality of football. It was a bit of a test for the lads most of them having never played togther before and haven't trained as a team. In talking to the coaches, the best outcome for the day was that the team had  8 new players to the club (some were past juniors) a couple of them have been lost to the game for a few years, so it was great to see them back playing football. This league will only get bigger and better, and a Big thanks to the Nth Welly club management team who have been encouraging other clubs to join, it was their passion that encouraged Stop Out to enter a team.

We beat Wests 3-0.
No doubt that we were the better team.

A bit annoying at the end though. We began lining up for a handshake and they turned their backs and walked off. Maybe they were a bit shaken after getting "Talked to" by their coach.

Stefan, you have mortally wounded wests pride and glory. That must be the club culture at that club. Poor attitude by not knowing how to accept a loss with grace!

You should get the facts right Stephan and stop posting rubbish. I was at the game and yes you guys played great and desrved to win. BUT from where I was standing it was your team that didn't front up to shake hands not Wests. The game was played in good spirit throughout so I think this crap about Wests sportsmanship is nonsense.

I started walking over, And only got a glance from the coach and team. My team gave up I guess. Apologies for sounding too cocky. But we are bloody happy after going down 6-0 last time.

On another note.
The Wests coach kept his insults down a lot today. Send him my thanks.
He is the one with the most unsportsmanship in that team.

I hope to god that this is a turn around for our team, we didn't look a bit like the team we have been in the past few weeks. I just hope Im not stuck at left back all season now.

You are a decent team too though but, how does your team sheet work? It seems to change every week because we didn't recognize many of your players today. And its changed a crap load since our first meeting.Stefan2010-05-23 18:33:39

This U21 league is all over the place at the moment. I watched Wests v Petone today, again looked like Wests have had another reshuffle. They didnt look anywhere near as good as they did last week.

Why dont you guys just approach each other after the game and shake hands like a proper match? Lining up post match for a shake is 5th grade sh*t. Or line up before the match like we do now in senior mens?

Did it at the start. Although I had to teach the ref how it went.

Think Wests and us (Petone) both have U21 sides that feed our Reserve team so players come and go depending on whether they've played senior football the night before.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Are they registered with the senior club or junior though? Thats my question. Because that doesn't sound right.

Plus, Has anyone heard about the new subs rule?

the players shook hands immediately after the game. Dont think there was any lack of sportsmanship from the players and I thought their coach was well behaved. However, there were 2-3 muppets on the sideline who I doubt have ever kicked a ball in their life (doubt they could even run effectively) who had a little too much to say. Eventually they were silenced by a 3 zip scoreline that could have really been 8horseshead212010-05-26 20:23:19

The interpretation of the subs rule is being discussed at the moment so shouldn't impact the league (hopefully).

I guess the other thing to watch out for is players going up & down the leagues etc. My understanding is that the normal Senior regrading rules do apply (and should be enforced).

first off its wHarfies
and there is no such thing as being registered as a junior (with CF). You register senior players. u21 is a senior comp

And really that's irrelevant anyway Stefan because back in the day (before CF had a brain meltdown) players used to come up and down from U16/17 JPL and before that U16 Regional League all the time.

That's the way it works.  Junior/senior is purely and administrative distinction.  Good players go up to play higher levels, players not needed at higher levels come down.  Those in between sometimes do both.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

What is the subs rule?
We told our ref last week it was rolling subs. Apparently it isn't.

All the games I've watched have been rolling subs.

Suspect you had an ill-informed but officious referee (what are the chances).

Rolling subs was the understanding of all teams but once official refs were appointed it got a little confused.

The Refs boss was insisting on 3 subs only & not rolling, this is being discussed at the moment I believe. In the meantime my understanding is that it is rolling subs as normal.

Although looking at the weather it is more likely to be floating subs if any games are on this weekend.

If youre going to start bringing in official refs, you might aswell chop the rolling subs. Makes no sense to have serious refereeing but following junior rules

Its not about following junior rules as the U21s is a senior competition. The issue is more around what was originally agreed by Capital football & the clubs it is now complicated by the introduction of official refs (who are a good addition in my opinion). This will be worked through & a solution found I am sure.

I understand that some Senior divisions allow rolling subs as well.

Rolling subs makes sense and I'm sure it will continue.

The idea is to get as many playing as possible, not to pretend it's the Champions' League.
