I saw utd play LH. A goal from the Dutch girl off a corner and then a volley two minutes later.

Upper Hutt are safe.

Did you see second half? What you think of the waved off penalty? I thought that should of been given to Lower Hutt which would of made it two all

Can't say I noticed any stonewall pens

Fair enough, I thought there was one should of been given in second half and overall Lower Hutt looked like they could get the extra goal. But it was Uniteds day.

Big game Valeron v Marist.

United take their stretch to four on the trot. Pretty good considering they were dead last prior. With their CB back from injury against Seatoun they could steal a point this weekend.

Yup Valeron v Marist will be a big game. Mind you if Lower Hutt don't get any points against Upper Hutt then the Lower Hutt vs Seatoun game will also be huge as if marist beat Valeron and seatoun beat Lower Hutt then both Velaron and Lower will be tied on points but Lower Hutt Will be relegated on goal difference.

Who is everyone picking to win between Marist and Valeron?

Yup Agree: Mind you if Lower Hutt don't get anything from their game against Upper Hutt then their game against Seatoun in the last round will also be huge. It going to be an exciting last week of football for the bottom three teams

I agree the Valeron-Marist game will be very interesting.  Is Curry back? - if she is I am predicting a 1-1 draw.  If she is not - Valeron.  And the derby between Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt - I am picking Upper Hutt on sheer physicality (dependant on the ref mind you), and United vs Seatoun - if Anni is still carrying her injury still - you never know - they don't seem to have the same depth as United.  Will be interesting where the dutchie plays - I heard she played very well in the mid last weekend (?)

Val v Mar ain’t til next week. Both sides full strength I’d
say. They will know a bit more about what points they may need then i.e. if LH
get points v UH then a draw won’t be enough for Marist and Valeron can’t afford
to lose!. Agree on the physicality factor in UH v LH - not so much about Utd having the depth. The
dutchie is a quality player and could probably do with being more greedy. She
probably can’t afford to sit on the last defender as she may not see the ball.

Wharf beat Massey 4-3 in a well fought top-of-the-table match at Karori Park. The first half was even in terms of possession but Massey scored twice for 2-0 while Wharf hit the post. Wharf were right on top after halftime and went ahead 4-2 (Rollo hat trick) before Massey scored again and just before the end Wharf hit the metalwork again. Massey are still 3 points head of Wharf and have a big GD advantage.

Heard Lower Hutt beat Upper Hutt 3-0, but wasn't there to watch it this week.

LHC take a very handy 3 points with a 3-0 win over UHC.   Didn't see first goal in the first half but goals to

Katie Barrott and Ellen Stirling in the second.

Well, well. How are the mighty fallen. You need a big and statistically improbable favour from the United girls now, Greenie.

Huge result at Karori Park. The representative from Cap Football who was due to present Massey the trophy was watching the United game and was waiting on the half time score before leaving. When she heard it was 2-0 Massey I said to her she's either going to present the trophy or watch an amazing half of football; turns out it was the latter.

As for the Seatoun game, their coach is up there with some of the Valeron supporters for his "witty" and "innovative" banter. Good to see their bench wearing "Kick Racism out of football" t-shirts as well.

A real dogfight which United deserved to win. Man of the match has to go their last-minute stand-in keeper, Penny, who saved the pen. Though kicking the ball at shoulder height right at the tallest girl on the paddock wasn't the greatest idea from Annie.

Anyone got any ideas about who Stop Out might face to play off against to go up to Central League?

Permalink Permalink

Wangavegas Athletic are definitely gonna be eligible (winning manawatu league) and I think they are gonna put their hand up. I'm guessing they will be not too bad. Think they have grunwald and weibe and an ex Valeron player. However the first two names are no spring chickens so hopefully they have some yoof too.

It will be a central team if they want to join in - if no central team wanting the spot I think Stop out go straight up.

Right thread about 4 years ago Stop Out won the premier league. Can't remember if the played the play off and then declined to move up to central league as they had a very young team.?

They had no intention of moving up when I spoke club official pre play offs.  Sorry thought it was longer ago than that. Last year with Miramar women's team.

Wharf beat Upper Hutt 3-1, in light rain. First half 3-0 (Rolston 2, Wignall). UH won second half 1-0 (Riddall).

Beating Wellington United 2-0 today

Interesting how Marist seem to think they have a playoff game. I think everyone else on the planet knows they don't.

Think it's automatic relegation from CL if you are the bottom team, as happened to UH two years ago

Permalink Permalink

Yeah the rules changed at the end of 2010 which meant the last team in CL would Automatically get relegated instead of having a play off between the winner of the central vs capital winners. 2011 was the first year of it and Upper Hutt got relegated to Premier. Brooklyn got relegated in 2012 so unlucky to Marist but sure they will be back again, but until then all the best to Stop Out shall a play off eventuate.
