It's not an exucse if you do better than expected.  If we were  in, say lower hutt or NCR shoes, then the above statement would be an excuse.

i never said it was an excuse

i said

"it sounds like an excuse" and if it wasn't an excuse and your happy with 3rd then he didn't need to tell us that you had players missing and no guest players - maybe the players that are on the field stepped up and played well and you should stick to them - only time will tell in 2 weeks, see you at thirsty - dale the whale.

Im a bit confused..why would someone say "it sounds like an excuse" if they didnt think it was an excuse?

Wellington united are the team to watch out for. Everyone bags them, everyone makes excuses on why they didnt beat them, ie lower hutt didnt turn up on the day..from the looks of results lower hutt dont turn up much.

However with Mirimar showing their class it might be hard for them to get out of their group in napier but it will be interesting

Actually the real question is who was more hungover: Feverish on saturday or Smithy on Sunday?

haha wasn't an excuse. I was just amazed with what they achieved missing there key players. Beating both Petone and Lower Hutt is quite a good effort. I would certainly back them to get out of there group stage at Napier even with Miarmar central and east coast bays and from there who knows. The only other team that could is probably Miramar and they are in there same pool

I meant chch tech not central. Looks like one of the toughest pools at Napier

Feverish was still hung over to day.  From drinking Friday.

No contest.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Arsene Wenger does not know how to win anything - Just ask the Pride of London

And I love you Feverish!!

Wellinton won't get out of the group at Napier, don't play much attacking football, get 10 men behind the ball and counter attack. Won't score many goals in open play but well score plenty from set pieces - very good at these.

This is highlighted by the fact that they beat Upper Hutt in the Quarters on pens, Lost to Olympic in the semis 0-1, and beat Petone on pens for third place after it finished 1-1with the goal coming from a corner.

you? I put one up of Pride on the homepage - not sure if you two confuse yourself with each other? No doubt you are sharing a bedroom in Napier. He told me you were the worst coach he has ever had haha. Nah seriously good luck for Napier.

Who is the kid you poached? I'll go and poach him back. Stay away from Ktown.

The same could be said about the Bubbles.  They had two penalty shout outs and a 1-0 win.

Fact is that games are only 50 minutes long and teams that can win 1-0 will do well.

You make it sound like its a bad thing scoring from a corner. A goal is a goal mate..

And Upper hutt were a very good defensive side, only condeded one goal ot two goals the whole tornament..(looking past the 'random' draw for their group of course)

Yeah considering the likes of harris and luke jones weren't playing that much if at all upfront it isn't surprising not a lot of goals were scored. defense and defending well wins you championships. I mean look at the Greeks in euro a couple years ago. Its gonna come down to wellington or mar getting out of group stage and with such short games and depending on the draw it could be either.

Are you saying only Wellington and Miramar have a chance to get to the knock out stage? I think you are kidding yourself, there are other good posibilities in Petone, Olympic and I wouldn't count Lower Hutt out either. Then there is Wests, who knows what they are going to turn up with because they never participate in these warm up tournaments.

I think people are getting a tad ahead of themselves. Credit where credit's due, Mar played well and are looking dangerous, LHutt if perform to their potential will be good too. Petone have a solid team and same with Olympic. Wests are always a good side, bringing young players like Corey Larsen in.

Looking at Untd from a neutral point of view. They came 3rd, were missing guest players and normal starters, played with a squad of 14 for entire tourny, that's FACT not opinion. Yes they didn't score a lot of goals, but didn't concede a lot either. So a win's a win, might not be pretty but it's three points, no matter what you say. Can't fault them there.

Napier will be tough for Mar and Wgtn Utd, I think Chch Tech and ECB and Waitakere will be hard games. But in saying that they are only 50min so if you sneak a goal and have a good defence you're going to win. As long as you score more goals than you conceed per game you will win- Fact. If people want to sl*g off teams, get the facts right and don't try and sl*gg them off on something that doesn't matter. Napier will be a good tournament with quality players from all over the country. It should be good to play and watch!

I think 'BG' is saying that out of pool D it will be cchurch tech and either wellington utd and mirimar.

Lower Hutt havnt got out of their group in either Ivan England or Upper hutt..There not looking to good to do it at napier either

I think that underestimating any team is a big ask. They will all be quality teams with couple of standout players from each teams. Played against wellington olympic from all of the ones that have been talked about and they were tall at the back had a bit of speed up front but always went long

Heard olympic is bringing in 2 players from sydney for napier. And apperantly both are quality!!

haha olympic always say that. If they get a good defender and or center mid or striker they'll be very dangerous because that is what they are missing atm.

Without saying too much, 2 guest players are coming in.

And no both are not greek.

Should add what we seem to be missing and with the team pretty much playing together all year i look to a semi-successful campaign come napier.

Bunch of local kids (scandalous I know).  They've lost Sam Peters with a knee injury though.  Could struggle.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
