Really ?

Would have thought they were one of the favourites.  Half the first team is Under-19.

Hahaha, that's going to be a fine for you at training Fomble.

Ask around the club to find out who Roy is.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

upper hutt, wellington united quarter final??? your having a laugh

They probably have as much show as Tawa do of making the quarter finals, Tawa same section as Napier, Napier as do Upper Hutt in their tournament ensure they have a favorable draw so Tawa have been lucky in the draw, but I still can't see them progressing. Section D at Napier looks the toughest section, but no sectionis easy. Its time a Wellington based team made the final.

im not supporting tawa.
i dont think any team but mirmar will make quarters from wellington - maybe petone but they have a habit of failing at tournaments. (they looked a decent team last year to be knocked out on the first day)

Surely Lower Hutt or Olympic will qualify from their group.

central and bay olympic are not easy teams to beat - especially in 25 minute halfs.

Everybody but Upper Hutt Academy (last in the 5 team group) goes through this year.  It has changed to a rugby sevens type format with losers contesting subsidiary competitions to give everybody extra games.

So far you have to like Napier - with Upper Hutt and Tawa also unbeaten.  Miramar unbeaten but drew with Lower Hutt who didn't make the cut believe it or not (beaten by Wgtn U).  But tomorrow's a new day with tired bodies even at that long-forgotten age.

Good to see miramar, petone and olympic looking strong for napier. Maybe a wellington team could go close this year. Most dissapointing was Lower hutt. All the 'stars' but no results.

Thanks Upper Hutt for running the tournament.

Congratulations to Miramar for winning, Olympic for making the final, Michael Pickering (Petone) for picking up Player of the Tournament and Peter Linney for winning the clubs' choice as Referee of the Tournament.

The football was enjoyable, the refereening was mixed.

The weather was great. It normally pisses down on one or other day in this tournament but everyone got sunburnt this time.

The winner was always gonna come out of these 2 teams after they met in the Semis.
Brilliant weather over the two days.
A stack load of penalty shootouts also.
All Wellington teams will have to lift their standard and level if they are to compete in Napier.
Cant really see any Wellington teams doing anything up there to be honest...but I hope I am proved wrong.

Your wellington united hatred is getting boring.  Do you seriously think that we need to make an excuse for coming third. 2ndBest2008-10-13 16:43:06
