A cynical person would say a team like city would rather Brisbane in the 6 than us or Perth based on form.

I did say last week this match was always a concern, was hoping City might fluke it. Fair play to Brisbane, played some really good football and of course Young with good saves.

The Macarthur v CCM game on Thursday is looming large for the Nix's top 6 hopes. We gotta win all 3 remaining games and even then it may not be enough.

Roar are a very good team. They've been more consistent over the season and have a much better defence than us and Perth. That City have fielded a weaker lineup is more due to them resting players and rotating the squad.

What result do we want from Macarthur vs CCM?

Edit: Oh yes, surely CCM win (or even draw) to get Macarthur within striking distance for beating them last game.

Reckon the best chance of a spot now is hoping Mac do as badly as possible v CCM and WU. It's even just possible that if we only manage a draw with WSW we could still sneak through on 38 points by beating Mac on the last day of the season, providing they only manage a point from those two games.

A better goal difference would keep us ahead of Perth and WSW even if they won their last two games. Of course we have to beat Perth first!

CCM to win/draw and us winning our last 3 games gets us 6th. That is the most likely path for us to make the 6.

CCM (36 pts) also finish with 2 gimme wins at home against woeful Jets, and then WU who are now almost as woeful.

Best chance now is to somehow overtake Macarthur (36 pts). Though Roar (37 pts) despite tonight's win have a tough run in - WSW (A), Glory (H) & a weakened SFC (H).

The Alex Parson's Project. Last night, this kid ran the game. City were crap and I can't believe of all games, McLaren didn't score in.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I was a bit surprised to hear he was 21. This season was the first time Roar fans that follow the NPL team had been raving about him.

CCM v MacArthur ... Anything but a MacArthur victory, right?
I favour a draw, just, over a CCM win (we will still get into the 6 ahead of MacArthur on GD with two wins if it's a draw tonight, and an outside chance that CCM could also struggle to make it)

I know, I know, its serious!

Mac were really good 2nd half against Perth last week. Probably the first time I've been genuinely impressed by them. If they win our chance of making it to the finals takes a big hit.

Come on Mariners!

Or draw, right - doesn't make much difference (unless Macarthur win by about 8 against WU)?

Macarthur are down to travel to Victoria to play Western United on Monday. With Melbourne now in a 7 day lockdown to finish next Thursday - what are the FFA going to do with that game??

Nix won't be happy if they shift the game to Sydney giving Bulls a home advantage. Not that WU get any fans anyway to their home games - but still taking the game out of Victoria would compromise the 'fairness' of this tight race for the playoffs.

Was mentioned it may be held in Macarthur, which seems sensible if it's too problematic going to Victoria. I imagine we'd be understanding of the need to change things, isn't any scheduling room just now.

Nah to hell with Macarthur, if I was the Nix, I'd lodge a protest and request the game be played somewhere neutral like Tasmania (where Western United have taken games) or Adelaide.

Why should they benefit from the Covid situation, when Nix have been hamstrung because of the virus all season long.
