Deadlock has finally been broken and it's Piscopo with the assist for Valadon.

We're still on for the Melbourne Derby final.

Although unfortunately I dont really rate South Melbourne's chances over Macarthur tomorrow - but you never know!

Definitely will be tuning in at 8pm tonight to cheer on South Melbourne.
How awesome would it be if they were the first NPL side to win this comp? Unlikely they'd beat MV though...

Macarthur's main route to goal is to head to the corners and cross for Germain. If they can keep him quiet, I reckon they might be able to pull off the cupset.

TBF out of the remaining A-league teams that made it to the semi's their best chance would always be against Macarthur

0-0 at Half Time

SMFC started off well, a couple of good chances and plenty of possession, although that dried up a bit as the half wore on and felt like it was a bit more in Macarthur's favour by the HT whistle.

Overall its an even enough contest so far

Shame about the penalty I was hoping SMFC would pull through..... no shame in losing to the winner.

I don't see them doing much in the next 5.

Yeah a stupid and unnecessary challenge from him. I think Macarthur will struggle to be much of a goal threat in the final without him

An unnecessary yellow from a MacArthur player when no one would have expected it you say?

He has been carrying them all the way to the Final, that is probably their best chance of winning gone now.

I guess MV will win it, especially at home you'd think

And they have now announced a different date, bringing the Cup Final forward a week in order to play it at Amy Parks
Pretty much ruining any chance of a decent crowd surely as that's AFL grand final weekend in Melbourne.

It's the day after - but I imagine most people in Melbourne won't be aware this is on, it'll get lost in all the media attention for the AFL

The other option was Sydney on NRL Grand Final weekend. They really need to reconsider the timing of the Cup Final.

Arzani totally left out of the squad. Kisnorbo claiming he wants to see how they look without him, as he is suspended for Rnd 1. Piscopo starts instead.

A tiktok A-league account implied that the North Terrace is gonna bring out a tifo so can't wait to see what they show (potentially)

You'd think you would at least name him as a substitute just in case it's not working without him - I mean there is a trophy on the line after all, and ACL2 qualification as well

So is that only us, Auckland and defunct clubs who haven’t won anything?

I’m beginning to get the feeling this year may not live up to the expectations from last year.

Yes but Macarthur had already won this trophy back in 2022 so it was just us, Auckland and defunct clubs that hadn't won a trophy before tonight as well.

Well done to Macarthur for getting the win, I didnt give them much hope and I assume most others didn't either. Arzani probably would've been useful on the bench after all!

This triggered a few people yesterday. Seems that to make room for AFC's entry, Victoria lost a spot in the Final 32.

Note: the ALM Australia Cup playoffs between the bottom 4 clubs will be played at the end of this season, rather than early next season.

Not a bad thing for Victoria to lose a place.  Victoria had 5 spots, every other state/territory was 1,2 or 4 spots.  The state/territory competitions also double as a State based K/O cup.  With Victorias Dockerty Shield, because Victoria had 5 FFA spots this meant the Dockerty Cup needed an extra round to reduce those 5 teams to 4 for Dockerty Cup semi-finals.

We are going to have cups matches in May this year. Soo tempted for an away trip for this.

Probably one reason why the club want to announce their coach for next season soon.

The game(s) in Darwin next month, effectively part of pre season for 2025/26. Like I'd be surprised if Wootton or Sutton were playing in them, for the Nix. Though their contracts don't expire until 30th June - so they couldn't play for the Glory that early.

Sutts and Wootts will be happy with that.  Hope they still put in a good shift for us tonight.
