Well we aren't getting three seasoned pro's. Ernie's interview he said we were lucky to only lose one first team player and he's looking for his striker and will fill the rest of the squad with academy players.

We were lucky to get CCM, neither team looked good. We moved the ball round well but that was because CCM didn't put any pressure on us.

I thought Ridenton didn't look out of place and Rufer seemed a significant step up on last year.  Rufer seems to have bulked up quite a lot?

We had a bit of space to play in, I agree, but we also had the midfield stacked.  So I thought we made some of that space as well as CCM maybe not working too hard in the press.  For periods we looked quite fluid, just lacking real bite, but not too bad on the break.

One more CB/FB, one more striker.  Come on Ernie.

Rufer got round the park well but he missed his one good chance.  Ridenton got the ball on the left a lot but really did the same thing each time which was cut inside onto his right and play a square ball.  Not his fault, he is drastically out of position there.

If we are only going to add a striker and maybe a centre back then we do need pretty drastic improvement from A-Rod and Fenton as the up and comers in the side.  Plus we'll need Appiah to come good - I thought he looked our best player last night (against very poor defenders to be fair).

4/7 chance of getting A-League and 3/7 chance of getting NPL. Only slightly more likely to get A-League.

Anyone have Ernie's post - match interview? Apparently ripped into our midfield a bit.

From the post match @YellowFever Twitter feed, Ernie said in the post match interview:

"We have to keep the ball in the midfield, we gave the ball away non-stop"

and

"We played pretty rubbish, but it's hard to complain with a clean sheet and a win"

and

"The midfield was a huge disappointment tonight"

and he told Adam Peacock that he is hoping to sign a new striker in the next couple of days...

Good stuff; I thought our midfield was rubbish too. CCM were just worse, is all. Roly's touch was strangely poor.

Or alternatively the bright lights of TK Shutter Reserve.

I only watched the 2nd half, but was pretty surprised by how defensive we were, and by how early we started to park the bus. Mossy was time wasting and then hoofing it pretty much the whole half.

Okay grumpy old man; it was a joke.

Nothing to do with being grumpy. Just correcting a mistake.

Easy to get personal, but from you I am not surprised.

Your comment to me was incorrect regarding the temperature so I assumed you knew nothing about the WA weather.

Silly  me, just a stupid comment.

Last year they played Sydney in Ballarat.

Adelaide vs Sydney as well. Two all A-league fixtures ensures that there can be an all NPL game in the next round and one of those NPL teams will make the semis.

He is quoting Simon Hampton who is quoting Ernie Merrick. So Ernie knows nothing about the WA weather?
