Yeah I've noticed one or two grammatical errors on their posts. Clearly the whole organisation is rotten from the ground up!

Looks like Brimmer is injured at the moment. Couple Aussie trialists listed on the bench.

Aus-Kiwi James Bayliss (DM & 23 yr old older brother of Lachlan) trialled at the Nix last year. Thomas Makko looks to be a 22 yr old midfielder in the NSW NPL.

https://aucklandfc.co.nz/news/auckland-fc-kickstart-pre-season-with-draw-in-sydney/

Auckland FC opened their 2024/25 Australia pre-season tour with a 2-2 draw against the Newcastle Jets at Leichhardt Oval.

Logan Rogerson scored the opening goal, giving Auckland FC the lead early in the first half of their match with a long-range finish. His precise finish set the tone for Auckland FC, who controlled the game in the early stages.

The second goal came from Max Mata’s intense pressure causing a defensive mishap from the Newcastle Jets resulting in an own goal, putting Auckland FC in a commanding 2-0 lead as they headed into halftime.

Starting Lineup
Micheal Woud [1]
Hiroki Sakai [2]
Dan Hall [23]
Tommy Smith [5] [Captain]
Francis De Vries [15]
Cam Howieson [7]
Finn McKenlay [18]
Adama Coulibaly [16]
Logan Rogerson [27]
Jesse Randall [21]
Max Mata [9]

Reserves
Joe Knowles [30]
Scott Galloway [3]
Callan Elliot [17]
Jonty Bidios [36]
Nikko Boxall [31]*
James Bulkeley [32]*
Ralph Rutherford [33]*
Codey Phoenix [34]*
James Bayliss [38]*
Thomas Makko [39]*

* Trialist players

Substitutions
60′ Hiroki off for Elliot
60′ Coulibaly off for Bidios
70′ Rogerson off for Rutherford
70′ Smith off for Boxall
76′ Howieson off for Makko
80′ Phoenix off for Randall

There must be an error (or lie) in their squad list because they mention:

12′ De Vries delivered a beautifully in-swinging corner that caused a scramble at the back post. Toomey rose above the defenders, heading it towards the goal, but it was just a close shot.

But then Toomey isn’t listed as a starting or reserve player?

It also says 'Phoenix off for Randall', but dosen't mention Phoenix coming on in the first place?

Maybe its supposed to be the other way round.

Yeah I noticed the comment about Toomey, and then even counted the stated starting lineup to make sure was 11 names. There was, but who knows if Toomey played or not.

Still a better write up, than post most Nix pre season games. Whilst on the Jets website and Twitter is absolute zero mention of the run around at all!
I guess these matches and general publicity mean more to the new boys.

McKenlay & Coulibaly getting good minutes in pre season with Brimmer absent. I imagine Corica will be keeping one eye on Clayton Lewis's court case. Possible signing if he's found innocent/not suspended, but MAC still release him. Court date next Thursday August 22nd, is when police are expected to present a brief of evidence against him, Davila & Baccus

Wouldn't get too far ahead of the game here. The younger lads will end up as squad players once the season rolls around with the remaining four imports set to form the spine of the team.

For sure. I think of the young guys signed from local football - Randall, Toomey & Gillioan are the most likely to feature in match day squads from the start of the season. The rest will need to be patient, and will feature mostly for their reserve team in the Northern League next winter.

Prior to Paulsen coming in, I would have also obviously said Joe Knowles.

Corica said back in May/June he hoped to have his visa players announced by August. So expect some news on that front soon.

Haha.

No had a good friend who diced with our friendship by letting me know he was going to get a Paulsen Jersey instead of a Sakai one. About 7 minutes after I first found out Paulsen had gone to AFC.

Phoenix till I die here. Respect Sakai a lot, but he’s not my favorite. Nix should sign Nagatomo! Not really, but that man’s a player and then some.

"..... people hate Aucklanders for being from Auckland", wrote carlind.

It's not quite true.  We hate them for being Aucklanders.  The new team should be called 'the jaffa's'.

In true penny pinching style AkFC haven't paid a cent for players thus far, though I congratulate them on the choice of a quality coach.  As long as his ball boy Hays should is left to kitchen clean up duties, the Ozzie could possible get them off the bottom rung.

Good run of the game on the website re the 2-2 draw with the Jets.
Nada I note for yesterday's 4-2 loss at WSW.

By signing, Jonty Bidois, Joe Knowles, Jesse Randall, Luis Toomey, Liam Gillian, Ollie Middleton, Finn McKinlay, and Adama Coulibaly, their prior clubs will receive over $70,000 in FIFA training compensation. This goes back to the clubs as a reward for the hard work and diligence they have put into developing these local talents.

The clubs receiving the money are:

Western Springs AFC
Auckland City FC
Auckland United
Bay Olympic FC
Birkenhead United AFC
East Coast Boys AFC
Wellington Olympic
Christchurch United AFC
Tauranga City AFC
Tauranga Boys College
Papamoa FC
Eastern Suburbs AFC
Hawke’s Bay United
Napier Marist Football Club
Manurewa AFC
Western Suburbs
Onehunga Sports
Hamilton Wanderers
Melville United AFC

In the coming weeks, Auckland FC will announce that more funds will be given back to clubs with a 20% membership rebate.

I might be missing something here, but shouldn't that list include the Phoenix too? Saying this as Toomey was with us (ressies) for a few years without ever signing over to pro terms.

May have missed something in there, but just a thought. 🧐

I presuming it's only $70,000 in total?? So a few thousand each club, or school in the case of Tauranga Boys??

Bidois - Bay of Plenty & ChCh United
Randall - Welly Olympic
Toomey - Hawkes Bay
Gillion - Auckland City

Who out Joe Knowles, Ollie Middleton, Finn McKenlay, and Adama Coulibaly is via Hamilton Wanderers & Melville United AFC?

Any blow harding aside, AFC are doing a good job with the grass roots stuff around the Northern Region. Be interesting though to see how their potentially 'stacked' reserve team is perceived next year. Room for some friction in that space

They are doing a good job at controlling the narrative. marketing 101, make sure everyone knows about all the "good" things you're doing, keep them focussed on this and they'll ignore everything else - ie the clearly snakey dealings to get Paulsen from Bournemouth
