1.7 Million People in Auckland. Probasbly 200,000 gone to their Holiday homes in the Coromandal, bay of Islands or Queenstown. Leave a lot of people still there so am not surprised at the near 15k crowd.

Happy with them to continue their attempts at making the club utterly detestable 😬 you’re always welcome back Doloras 😉
This kind of shark is why T-AFC are needed, despite the fact that they can't spell worth a D-A-M; and with clowns at a Western United game flying the Rhodesian flag, the space can't be ceded to the Right.

I went to a party in London hosted by Cecil Rhodes' great great granddaughter some years ago. All the women were either just graduated hypnotherapists or psychotherapists, the sole man apart from myself was an unemployed actor. I left sharpish to watch some football on pub TV.

A mate was in Zimbabwe and went to the Rhodes grave site in a National Park as part of a tour. He had a question about Rhodes’s fondness for young black male “companions” but the white tour guide, brushed him off
They must be a few grandsons of old Rhodesians surely?
I couldn’t imagine it is that big?
No, it's huge among young online fascists who have no family connections to the Ian Smith regime. I suppose the appeal is apartheid South Africa, but a bit more "hipster"

"Back"? I did not realise Doloras ever left, no matter what games she watches.
People on here are allowed to watch AFC matches without becoming AFC supporters right? I went to watch Charlton a few months ago, doesn't mean I'm now a die hard Addick.

I'm YF-at-a-distance till I die, but I admired the young people who started T-AFC, and they needed help. Had to explain to some that we stand up at the football lolz
Seriously, I consider you guys my mates even though some of you can't stand me (and with good reason!)

No Doloras....we love you! You are an institution on this forum. It would be a poorer platform without your fiesty comments. Dont go over to the dark side. Your heart pumps yellow and black.....and you know it.

Fear not, it was very much tongue in cheek. Didn’t expect it to be taken seriously, soz 😂

Noel Coward was there too? You sure this wasn’t some feverish dream??
Or a scene from Withnail and I seen from a different perspective?

Haha. More like turning up to play then realising you'd entered the wrong changing rooms.
Predominantly a left winger, so some competition for the incumbent Gillion Mbappe, with an eye towards getting some better production out of that left hand side and in the final ⅓.

We don't always agree and our political views are opposite BUT what you type on here gives food for thought and a different perspective. It is part of what makes this forum work. And the fact you are not a glory hunter type fan. No NIX fan ever has been except the ones that try to jump on our Waka when the more important games are being played.

Upgrade on Champness you'd have to think, and gives them options wide where the current options are yet to catch fire.
Yeah you would have to say that it is a smart piece of business by the club. There have been question marks over the quality in the final third, rightly so I think. AFC will be hoping this signing answers some of those questions.
Can’t say I have ever seen him kick a ball so will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Some interesting comments in this interview from the Herald:
For Alex Paulsen, the drive to excel between the sticks goes beyond merely retaining his place in the starting XI.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper is keen to impress enough to return to his English Premier League (EPL) club, AFC Bournemouth, who loaned him to sister club Auckland FC (AFC) for the A-League season.
“[Bournemouth] are keeping direct dialogue with our goalkeeper coach here at Auckland.
“We’re just trying to exchange communication and making sure that if I need to improve on anything, then they’re always going to be watching and give me feedback as best they can,” Paulsen said.
His contentious move to the Black Knights was seemingly predetermined last August. The All White was brought by the EPL club – owned by Bill Foley – from Auckland rivals the Wellington Phoenix before then being loaned to AFC – also owned by Foley – for their inaugural campaign.
The signing didn’t come as a surprise to Auckland fans, but may have shocked Phoenix supporters (and likely Paulsen); adding that much more to the Kiwi derby narrative.
Of the 10 games he’s played this A-League season, Paulsen has kept six clean sheets – the most out of any keeper in the league.
AFC coach Steve Corica confirmed the club’s director of football Terry McFlynn speaks frequently with Bournemouth about Paulsen’s epic start.
“[He talks] to Simon Francis over there. Whenever we need anything, if we need any data or anything like that, if we need to know about players, we can, we can ask them.
“Obviously, [Paulsen] is one of their players, so they’ll be in touch [about] him. “[Bournemouth have] been great for us,” Corica said.
As Paulsen continues his exceptional form in goal, helping the next club maintain their place at the top of the league, he said the current vibes in camp are similar to what he experienced in Wellington last season, who, too, were exceeding expectations.
“The processes were very much similar in terms of trying to make sure that our mindset was switched on from the get-go – ensuring that we’re having to take our games one step at a time and making sure that we can control what we have in front of us,” Paulsen said. “It’s a similar feeling as well, but at the same time, I think, us as a team with Auckland FC we’ve shown what we’re capable of, so we just got to make sure that we can keep going at it and keep focusing and stop underestimating teams.”
This Saturday, Auckland will face off against Perth Glory in what will be one of the longest distances travelled for a football fixture within the same league.
The Black Knights have embarked on an eight-hour journey, covering 5,343km from Auckland to Perth, with a layover in Melbourne. This journey surpasses the Phoenix’s previous distance derby record by 88km.
Corica said that having already defeated Wellington twice this season and securing their star goalkeeper, it’s a bonus to also technically take the title of “distance derby” from Wellington. “It’s just a few kilometres bragging rights, [but] of course whatever we can put past them, we will look forward to that,” Corica said.
Perth sit second to last on the A-League table having conceded 30 goals this season. Auckland are at the opposite end only conceding eight.
Corica explains how he is taking these stats with a grain of salt. “You know that in the A-League it’s very, very close. “[Perth’s] last game was, was tight, they’re getting better each each game. “It’s not going to be easy, I can tell you that much. We’re going to have to make sure that we work hard and do our jobs correctly to get the win.”
AFC have this week signed Olyroos winger, Marlee Francois, 22, as a free agent, having played most recently at Bristol City. “He’s a young boy that we think can progress. We’ll see once he gets here and see if he’s fully fit and then we’ll go from there. Corica said Francois is expected to be a “project” player for the side and would be an ideal replacement for Joe Champness who left on mutual terms last month.
(Two to be omitted) Ins: 16.Adam BUGARIJA, 31.Joel ANASMO Outs: Nil Unavailable: 9.David WILLIAMS (injured)
Auckland FC squad: 1. Michael WOUD, 2. Hiroki SAKAI, 3. Scott GALLOWAY, 4. Nando PIJNAKER, 5. Tommy SMITH, 6. Louis VERSTRAETE, 8. Luis TOOMEY, 9. Max MATA, 10. Guillermo MAY, 12. Alex PAULSEN, 14. One win in the last five games. AFC are probably at the crossroads of the season. Huge game against table topping City coming up, probably without Sakai. Lose that game and they could go down to fourth on table

Tough run for them now (see, across the season these things do even out!) City at home, then Adelaide + WSW away in an eight day period.
Might see a bit of squad rotation to keep the legs fresh over the next couple of weeks.
