Terrible news for the AL. We are blessed to have owners like Welnix. Despite our roller coaster existence. We dont seem to to need to worry about the financial stability of our club.

Careful you will be labled a happy clapper
Yeah. You've got to wonder about the mental state of someone who says "happy clapper" as if it was a devastating insult.

Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009
This forum needs less angst and more Kate Bush threads

Just trying to be as nice as possible Doloras, avoiding swear words, etc.

You know how it is

Someone else called him it first and I found it quite fitting.

Auckland will rise once more

Eeyore? Puddleglum? Eeyore probably better known. Both a bit literary though. Not so applicable here, perhaps…Murphy of Murphy’s law perhaps a bit off these days…

Anyway, this is kinda discussion is getting a bit…but worried for our Auckland compadre tbh.

And we still haven’t got back the thousands we’ve lost.

Sounds like a sale will happen, which is good news. But to whom?
Any of 3-4 different possibilities it seems.

Wonder if the ownership confusion, has meant that Kiwi Seth Clark hasn't been announced as a Mariner yet?
Clark being at Sydney Olympic, and maybe if Olympic's owner doesn't get to buy the Mariners, Clark doesn't go to Gosford??

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/360923778/central-coast-mariners-owner-exits-local-international-investors-circle-league-club

It is another turbulent chapter in the Mariners’ colourful 21-year history, but it could soon lead to stability - and not necessarily under Damon Hanlin, the club’s presumed prospective incoming owner.

Hanlin, the former chairman of NPL NSW and Australian Championship side Sydney Olympic, had been in talks with Charlesworth to buy the Mariners and lodged formal documentation with the APL and Football Australia in late 2025, pending due diligence, the passing of a fit-and-proper person test and other requirements.

However, it is far from a fait accompli that Hanlin will assume control, with the APL to launch a fresh sale of the club amid “engaged local and international interest”.

One source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told the Sydney Morning Herald that Hanlin’s agreement with Charlesworth had fallen through, and that the APL’s takeover manoeuvre represented a clean slate.

Multiple sources say that English Championship club QPR - home to Australian trio Kealey Adamson, Daniel Bennie and Jayden Pearlman - had also been negotiating with Charlesworth to buy the Mariners in the off-season and had even reached an agreement with him, only for the deal to fall over at the eleventh hour, at which point they withdrew their interest.

The APL will now attempt to revive those discussions, but sources say that two other European-based clubs, plus a local consortium, have already signalled their intent to be part of the process.

Their academy has gone into receivership, that's a big loss if it isn't saved.

Really rough on the kids & for the parents who have paid a lot of money to have them involved with it.

APL is seeking a partnership for the Mariners’ Ninja A-League women’s team with engaged parties, with particular interest and expertise in women’s football.

“Through the extensive due diligence process it became clear that the operation of the women’s team was not able to be included within the new operation with TSG. Separately, we’ve begun working with parties to seek specific investment in the women’s team – and we’re working to ideally arrive at an outcome on this on or before 31 July to enable the team to operate in the 2026/27 season,” added APL CEO, Steve Rosich.
Deal doesn't include the ALW team. That kinda sucks tbh.

Very much so - even more uncertainty for the ALW season with Canberra still being Schrödinger’s Club, and the fact the new owners weren’t interested is a slap in the face for the CCM women’s team.

It's really short-sighted of the new owners not to include the Women's team. Another slap in the face for the most obvious growth area for football in every sense. That's half the population. It seems incredibly blinkered to me.

QPR doesn't have a Ladies side as well, so I guess the owner doesn't feel they are worthwhile atm. Hopefully some else on the Coast will step up and run it instead.

It's such a cop out from QPR to say they don't want it as they have no experience of running a Women's team - they have no experience of running an Australian team before but that hasn't stopped them from buying one!

QPR actually do have a ladies team that does play in a league, just not the top 3 that we see results in. One of their recent players was an English International. Having said this, It sucks they don't allegedly intend to promote the CCM ladies.

Oh, they do run one? My bad. I was going off what I had seen mentioned online in relation to that lacking the expertise to run one comment.

I'd question the football integrity of those doing the selling of CCM as much as the integrity (and sense) of those buying just the premiere men's side of CCM. How can they just buy half the club and leave the rest hanging without giving a fock? As far as I see it, they're effectively betraying (and no doubt losing) a fair proportion of the current club membership and/or general support in doing so. Presumably, the academy and football development components of CCM are also being lost. And what is Football Australia's role in all this erosion of football's potential? Seems nuts to me. If the Nix ever pulled a stunt like that, they'd lose my support. I'm a little bit involved in and committed to junior girls' football, and I hate the idea of anything undermining the girls' and women's game. The advent of the Wahinix has been brilliant, and like the academies and player development, it's one of the Nix's best success stories (it's absolutely not all about getting silverware!).

Nope possibly even stupider - the deal does include the club's academy including the girls academy - so they are happy to take peoples money to train them, without offering them any pathway at the club
