Hearing more about Mariners sale, APL confident a suitable owner will be in place in the next 2 months. Staying on the Coast 100% priority. Players & staff paid today. Academy should be back up & running in the next couple of weeks, in time for season. I expect positive future

Interview with Damon Hanlin, former chairman of @SydneyOlympicFC, who owns the club’s @AusChampionship license as a separate entity and previously funded the @CCMariners , whose license he tried to buy from Mike Charlesworth. I’ll time stamp it below. My head is still spinning. pic.twitter.com/eStgdPOepH

APL is seeking a partnership for the Mariners’ Ninja A-League women’s team with engaged parties, with particular interest and expertise in women’s football.
“Through the extensive due diligence process it became clear that the operation of the women’s team was not able to be included within the new operation with TSG. Separately, we’ve begun working with parties to seek specific investment in the women’s team – and we’re working to ideally arrive at an outcome on this on or before 31 July to enable the team to operate in the 2026/27 season,” added APL CEO, Steve Rosich.

It's really short-sighted of the new owners not to include the Women's team. Another slap in the face for the most obvious growth area for football in every sense. That's half the population. It seems incredibly blinkered to me.

QPR actually do have a ladies team that does play in a league, just not the top 3 that we see results in. One of their recent players was an English International. Having said this, It sucks they don't allegedly intend to promote the CCM ladies.

Oh, they do run one? My bad. I was going off what I had seen mentioned online in relation to that lacking the expertise to run one comment.

How can they just buy half the club and leave the rest hanging without giving a fock? As far as I see it, they're effectively betraying (and no doubt losing) a fair proportion of the current club membership and/or general support in doing so. Presumably, the academy and football development components of CCM are also being lost. And what is Football Australia's role in all this erosion of football's potential? Seems nuts to me. If the Nix ever pulled a stunt like that, they'd lose my support. I'm a little bit involved in and committed to junior girls' football, and I hate the idea of anything undermining the girls' and women's game. The advent of the Wahinix has been brilliant, and like the academies and player development, it's one of the Nix's best success stories (it's absolutely not all about getting silverware!).RR wrote:It's such a cop out from QPR to say they don't want it as they have no experience of running a Women's team - they have no experience of running an Australian team before but that hasn't stopped them from buying one!Gordinho wrote:QPR doesn't have a Ladies side as well, so I guess the owner doesn't feel they are worthwhile atm.
