Thing is, now that he's having an 8 week breather, what are the chances he'll now be a guest commentator and you'll still be seeing him on the screen! all-be-it, in a suit.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Odds for him to disagree with the co-commentator and take him out?

Oh boo hoo. We pay the bills so we get to hate whoever we want.

At the end of the day it's all just bread and circuses innit? Muscat's just another pantomime villain, no different to Simon Cowell, Vince McMahon or Darth Vader.

And just like Darth Vader at the conclusion of Star Wars, Muscat may have been defeated this time but you also know he'll be back.

It was a bad tackle, a shocking tackle, and it deserved a stiff penalty. It got one. But to say it was bad enough for a life ban is just hysterical nonsense, sorry.

Read my post again, i was saying that this tackle is just the tip of the Kevin Muscat dumbf**kery ice berg. He needs to be banned because hes going to keep injuring players, bad mouthing officials and bringing the game into disrepute as long as he is allowed to keep playing. The definition of Unsportsmanlike is Kevin Muscat.

Just another pantomime villain?

I think you might find his exploits run a little deeper than that.

Interestingly a thread titled Kevin Muscat at it again popped up on a Burnley message board 12,000 miles away. I don't think the folks at Burnley have any particular grudge to bear.

His special trick in the past has been to get to the ball first, but follow through with enough force to clean out the player as well (and then hold out arms claiming innocence - "I got the ball", maybe even make wee cute ball shapes).

He tried to do this again against the Heart, mistimed the contact with the ball and was found out.

He has certain skills, but is a thug.

I know, I know, its serious!

No one seems to have a problem with Bosnich being a commentator

Why?

Bosnich's "challenge" on Klinssman could have done some very serious damage, and becuase it didn't makes it no less of an idiotic thing to do.  If he had caved his skull in (it was more foreceful than the challenge that did that to Cech) would we all be horrified that he was commentating?

A Nazi salute at Spurs?????  For a laugh?????  Really??????  That isn't likely to offend anyone is it?

the best description of Muscat is that he is a pantomine villan, who has gone too far with a terrible challenge.  He has received a suitable punishment for it but because of the image that he has helped to maintain it is not enough for some people.  Lucas Neill broke 2 legs (of other players obviously) in 12 months with (from memory) 2 pretty bad tackles when he was at Blackburn yet if there was a possibility of him becoming a commentator for the A League no one would care.

No matter what Muscat has done in the past, the fact that he is bound to be a better commentator than Aloisi (a man I have love, by the way) should be enough of a reason for all the haters to get over it.

Bosnich is just an idiot. The Klinsmann challenge is a shocker, but keepers often get involved in some horrific shit, i know i have (2x broken leg), just look at Luc Nilis. The Nazi salute is stupid too obviously. Not that other players can be excused of similar behaviour, Di Canio anyone?

And yes Lucas Neill broke 2 legs in 12 months but he is a dirty little fucker too. The problem people have with Muscat is he has done it all through his career and has always been protected by the FFA (up until this it seems).

Three for me, and two for them.

How many pantomime villains have been sued for injuring someone so badly that their career was ended? Just askin'

For me, Muscat and Bosnich are both so far of the end of the scale of being a c**t that debating the exact degree to which each of them is a c**t is kind of pointless. Suffice to say they are both really huge, massive c**ts.

By the way, my earlier reference to Muscat as a pantomime villain was more in reference to the reaction to his tackle and the way we all love to hate a villain, rather than minimising his terrible  record over the years.

to be fair some would argue the nazi salute is a lot less offensive when you throw in the hand mustache, changing its reference to one of the funniest episodes of television ever.

I fear we haven't seen the last of Muscat by a long shot, One of these days he will end up head coach of Melbourne and raise up a whole team of little wanabe Muscnuts, who will proceed to win the league after injuring everyones key players in the opening weeks of competition.

They're footballers who occasionally do reckless things - not rapists FFS. In many sports like rugby, hurting someone is encouraged.

I'm with KP on this one.

What a well written thread.
Leggy, any Muscat-like characters that you came across in your playing days?

The Man was in Adelaide, rocked up to the Duke of York (where all the away fans were congregating) and put $1,000 on the bar.

So he's still got time to end a couple more careers then...

Sorry KP, you're pushing sh*t uphill if you seriously believe that Muscat will be remembered as anything other than an animal outside Australia (Melbourne specifically).

It might seem unfair but that's just the way it is.
