I only skimmed it but one thing I do think is a fair cop is that the club and the FFA LOVE the image of the RBB and use them to promote the league and the club constantly.  Yet at the same time they are pushing back fairly hard on their active support and are pretty quick to demonise them when things happen which they don't like, involve fairly heavy handed security measures etc.  If that anecdote is true and people remain banned after having a case against the police I would be fairly pi$$ed off.

I really dislike security for security sake.  Yes the flare are a menace but all this single ticket stuff, and ID cards, that's just completely over the top and implies all football fans are criminals which I completely object to.

Like I say, I think there are legitimate concerns here.

But...Their protest was about an email send out from the club, which has nothing to do with security. Feels like they realised their reasons for protested were pretty lame, and so beefed it up with their ongoing security complaints.

I still can't believe how poor the relationship is between some fan groups and clubs. We've had (minor) issues in the past, but airing them in public is pretty pointless.

It's definitely bizarre that it's degenerated to that level. FFA ownership definitely complicates things

They have definitely jumped the shark now.

People are just openly laughing at them and it's not even remotely about jealousy any more, it's because they are completely ridiculous.

Regardless of how justified your complaint is, a time comes where you just have to step back from the brink of self-parody.

Problem there is that some of their members were quite happily tweeting last night that it shows how important they are that fans from other clubs were talking about and anticipating their announcement (aka taking the piss on the #RBBannouncement hashtag on Twtter), and announcing that it doesn't matter if they're being laughed at, at least they are the centre of attention and being spoken about. They are going down the "it doesn't matter if the whole world's laughing at us, at least it's US they're laughing at" road.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Did Tegal really start that hashtag? What a Legend.

Not a bad article. The RBB will just write that off you can bet.

TL;DR but the gist of it that I get is that the club has said 'hey you guys can be active and we encourage it but we just want to put some ring fences around it so as to keep inside that.

They also say there is no dispute resolution process but item 13 lists it right there!

They just come off looking like cry babies. Its a bloody comprehensive document to cater towards JUST ONE SPECIFIC GROUP of the fans. I wonder if the Nelson Phoenix Supporters would ever get a doc like that from the club :o)

The comment from the RBB that it was sent out without consultation(if I read the after protest sh*t right) The big DRAFT through the pages indicate it is not a final document.

"There was nothing, it was just a normal chat with Ali,'' Santalab said. ''[There was] some emotion and frustration through the game. These things happen."

When it was suggested to Santalab that Abbas was particularly unhappy with one particular remark, he replied: "I was unhappy in the last derby. He's unhappy this time, so it makes it one-one."

Asked what he said to the Iraqi international, Santalab didn't want to elaborate. "Whatever happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch," he said. "And that's how I've always been, and that's how it is."

Its interesting when you read that, and the large demographic that is in the Parramatta area.

I wonder if this story has more legs.

Just popped in on the WSW forums. Plenty of people giving Santalab shit for it. significant chunk defending it on a variety of reasons (Abba is a dick, it's not insulting, etc)

This next sentence isn’t particularly pleasant, but it needs to be said to explain why Ali Abbas detonated as he did last Saturday night.

Fark if that's true Santalab needs a smack. As does any of the aforementioned muppets in the WSW forum defending anything like that.

Golgol has done a ACL & MCL, so needs a full knee reconstruction and is out for a year. It was a rather inconspicuous tackle tbh.

Polenz has been told he won't be getting a contract offer for next season.

Hiliarious.

Bet he's still leaving though.

The WSW fans are all angsting hard out about members of their precious "family" leaving. Welcome to the hard reality of professional football.

I'm sure we got angsty when Smeltz left.

Maybe even more so. We supposedly offered a blank cheque and he still turned us down.

#RRB playing tonight? Need to win by 2. Twitter word is if they make next round a lot of players are gone?

The quarter finals are in August so this will be the least game with the current squad. It's kind of bizarre that you can get into the quarterfinals with one squad and have an entirely different squad for the quarterfinals. Winning the AFC Champions League takes a squad from three different seasons as you need to do well enough domestically in your first year.

That's more or less why I struggle to have any interest in it.

Seems a few in Australia feel the same way.

Allegedly

WSW crowds have been pretty decent overall, although you'd expect that. Definitely been more interest in the ACL this year with the three A League clubs all getting good results, but yes it still has a bit of the 'meh' factor about it.

HT 0-0, WSW not really looking likely.
14 May 10:35

It's lucky the competition is geographically divided. Yes, playing the Japanese, Koreans and Chinese does make it hard to progress but it would be far worse if we had to play teams from Saudi Arabia.

Shannon Cole smashes one in to give WSW a lifeline.

Hersi caps a very underwhelming performance by missing an open goal.

Still 10 to go but getting desperate for WSW now.

Santalab thunderbolt!
