Fourth ALM manager to sign one of his sons. The previous 3 instances were at the Glory, if you think you can name them?

Popovich's sons x 2. Not sure where they are playing now though.

Kristian is at Macarthur & Gabriel is in Italy (Serie C) it seems.

Other Two Father/Sons

Alistair & Ryan + Cameron Edwards
Steve & Steve Jr McMahon

Guess you could argue to include Rado & Dario Vidosic in there, even tho Rado was only an assistant.

unlikely to have signed for us, but can scratch him off as available local defenders.

Adelaide picked him up for free & sold him for $2m USD a season later. Sucks to be the Jets.

Jets did make some coin off Cam Devlin and from memory he didn’t play a game for them before going to Hearts

They will get training compensation out of it - so not completely nothing.

Victory are broke. Talay wouldn't stand for Mario's attitude. Staj didn't like Mata being forced on him. Sage doesn't own the Glory anymore. I just dunno who would be willing to take that kinda gamble.

Are Victory still broke? 777 Partners are now out of the picture and they're in the same family as Brighton & Hove Albion.

They lost close to 10mil in the 23/24 season. Their crowds last season were down 2%. So unless they cut back a lot on the wages last season, they won't be in a much better position.

Yeah, I was just wondering if the new owners (who bought in last year IIRC) were going to inject money, etc.

It was also rumored that one of the reasons Popa left was the Victory tried to get him to take a substantial pay cut. I guess if they were flush with cash they would have a more ambitious coach than Arthur Diles.

I know a few people have argued that the quality of the A League has dropped, but I think that's a little misleading.

I think whilst we may have seen a drop in top talent in terms of experienced pros, the quality of the youth playing now is a lot higher in the A League.

I think the quality gap is smaller, and the overall quality as a result is a little better.

None of these signings are going to sit on the bench at Portsmouth etc.

Who needs Mario when you can sneak a Popovic back into the club without telling anyone.
