Seems like some good business being done around the A-league except for the ever pervading silence from our club. At the moment im not confident at all with the squad that we have and as others have mentioned has wooden spoon written all over it

Victory announcing a signing tomorrow at 11:30am NZ time

[Edit: All signs pointing to it being Milligan being announced]

And Milligan is back in navy blue. Since the Victory seem to be reassembling their GF winning team of a few seasons ago, think we can return Finkler? Hopefully Domey kept the receipt.

A lot of big names in that squad. Surely they only have room for kids now?

I think they will go with a 20 man squad. The Homegrown allowance will basically cover the 3 u20's, Broxham/Thomas/Geria will have some loyalty allowance discounts on their wages & Milligan + Berisha as marquees.  They will still have room for a couple more good signings I think, still 3 visas left to sign. Things are so much easier when your spreading the cap over effectively 15 players

Think that is possible with the number of national players they have?

Depends what kinda deal they have struck with Troisi tbh, if they have back loaded his deal & he will be marquee next season (Milligan only signed a 1 year deal). I always thought you couldn't do that but seems the Roar did it with Oar & Holman.

Sorry, was meaning can they cope with a 20 man squad if they have 4-6 players away during the international windows.

Ah, my bad. They will lose Kosta, Troisi & Milligan for sure. Berisha wont play for Kosvo's current coach & Ingham is a fringe selection. So that would mean a couple kids play a few games. They also have the ACL to deal with but there just isn't any good squad filler around, so I wouldn't be surprised if they went for broke. They will probably pick up a mature aged rookie as well to help fill out the squad.

The Newcastle Jets are “back to square one” in their search for a marquee player after missing out on the South American midfielder they had in their sights.Jets chief executive Lawrie McKinna confirmed on Thursday that the deal had fallen over after a member of the player’s family developed health issues.

Chinese triallist Zhu Zhengyu scored a goal and won a penalty in Wednesday night’s 4-0 trial win over Maitland but has not done enough to impress coach Ernie Merrick and will return home.
