Good on him...his dream continues on! Man, how sweet the life of a back up pro goalkeeper!

Really makes you wonder why we haven't got more of these kind of players on our radar...

You mean like a former Real Madrid B player?

It's great to see us finally chase one, but for how many years has proven Spanish talent come to the league for other teams?

Players like Isaias, Castro and Riera to name a few. Wages would surely factor in, but it's better than signing players from nowhere leagues

Pretty similar age (30 v 29) and history (few seasons in La Liga but also number of seasons in Segunda Div), as Nix’s trialist Mandi.

John Aloisi himself of course played several seasons in Spain.

I can't find anything that says he is actually on a contract with the Roar, so this might be a full time deal.

Sounds like its a contract for 150k. That is a bargain for the media coverage, I just wouldn't want the circus at my club.

Interesting decision for Bolt to make now then. He was hoping to get a contract worth millions. 150k is probably like an expensive night out for him! Question rests on how much does he really want to be a professional footballer in Australia...

$150k isn't small change, especially for a club like CCM. I'd rather buy some talented Spaniard or Argentinian from the 2nd division or something for that coin instead of bringing a dud into my team!

The minimum wage in the Segunda A is around 120 k so your not going to lure someone out of Europe for that little.

Wow that much? Still, I was thinking along the lines of an Ifill/Ferreira/Carrusca type player...someone with some pedigree who's not lighting Europe on fire but has the ability to make a meaningful contribution to the team.

From the club email:

Sydney FC have confirmed the signing of former Sky Blues youth team captain Jacob Tratt on a short-term injury replacement contract.

The 24-year old defender will provide extra defensive cover for Steve Corica’s men following a foot injury to centre-half Ben Warland last month.

Tratt skippered Sydney FC’s Foxtel Youth League squad to the 2014 Championship and claimed the title again two years later, as a member of the Hyundai A-League 2015-16 squad.

He joined Wellington Phoenix the following season before returning to captain the Sutherland Sharks in the NSW NPL 1 last year.

He will re-join the Sky Blues following a successful trial and is overjoyed to be returning to where it all began.

“I’m very happy to be back and to have all my family and friends around me, being family orientated, is a blessing,” said Tratt.

“To be able to play for the biggest club in the country and to be surrounded by family and friends, I couldn’t be happier.

“You can see that everyone at the club has purpose to what they are doing every day and you feed off that mentally.

“I would like to get some game time and show what I’ve got and eventually extend that contract.”

Head Coach Steve Corica, who coached and installed Tratt as skipper during the successful 2013-14 youth league Championship season, is delighted to welcome him back to the club.

“Jacob is an excellent player and will fit into our winning culture and strengthen our defensive options,” he said.

“I’ve known him for a number of years now and he is a fantastic person who is fully deserving of this opportunity to be a part of our squad.”

Tratt will wear the number 18.

I think that sentence may say why he did not sign here

He loves Sydney apparently...

The A-League can now add Demba Ba to its list of potential marquee targets with the former Premier League striker in Sydney and seemingly ready to settle down in Australia.

Currently contracted to Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua until 2021, the 33-year-old's club season is over until March next year and he has quickly found himself Down Under.

Ba was filmed in Sydney on Tuesday by player agent Ante Alilovic, who teased the striker could be here to stay.
