You'd think with the amount of investment the Nix have made into Greenacre he'd be the main candidate, and it would be a snub if they didn't bring him in. They even said the reason he was brought back to the academy system was to give him more head coaching experience.

Well given Danny Hay apparently had to do mediation because of things he did/said to the Future Ferns staff, I'm going to say it's unlikely the Nix will go anywhere near him.

A bit early in the piece for these types of discussions. Season still a month and a half away from starting. And from there who known's what's going to go down.

 It looks like Greenacre only has an A License, so if the rules still require non-Australian coaches to have a Pro License, then not sure Greenacre will be allowed (or Hay for that matter). Pro License isn't even offered in NZ either.

Not officially. But a review of the campaign by an external party is not the norm. Report due after the Socceroos games, which I think is quite telling in of itself.

Okay fair enough. I'm ambivalent on whole is Hay a better coach than Buckingham or vice versa agrument. Though agree for sure, the latter was treated shabbily by NZF.

But 2nd Best you would clearly have Des's babies if that was physically possible!! He's obviously a mate after his years in NZ.

I'd just be disappointed, sad even - if these Hay rumours were true, and lots of dirty laundry gets aired once the review is completed. If so, yet again NZ Football shoots itself in the foot, when otherwise there is a lot of positive news about the sport, especially this group of young talented AWs going forward.

If Ufuk would like to run for the Upper Hutt city council, he'll get my vote. This guy seems to bring the best out of most of his players. Total respect. Although coaches themselves, like to test and push their own limits to see how far they can go and be successful. I'm praying Ufuk sees the Nix as an unfinished project of his own and sticks around until we at least win a grand final. I like his interviews where he speaks with honesty and sincerity. It's "Team Ufuk" for me!

I wouldn't hold anything against Uffie if he decides to go elsewhere at the end of the season. He is an excellent manager, and clearly could go places overseas. He has seen out his contract and been professional throughout - which is more than you could say for a lot of our previous managers, and being up front about leaving if he does gives us the best chance of getting another winner in. In saying that, here's hoping he stays!

As long as Uffie sees out his contract then I'm happy. This season will be key to whether Dome and the owners want to extend/offer a new one - I'd expect they'd be keen to keep him on, but a change is nothing to worry about as long as it's the right one.

What will be a challenge if Uffie does go, is which of the players and assistant coaches he takes with him.

Shouldnt really be of any concern as long as it is only ones whose contracts have expired. Talay dosnt strike me as someone who would strip a club who he has helped put in a good position.

Giancarlo started his Pro Licence about 15 months ago. Assuming it’s completed by the time Uffie leaves, surely that’s good enough to be the head coach (provided he wants to stay on). Isn’t the order: Pro > A > B? I could be getting stuff wrong with the whole UEFA/FIFA/other confederations stuff though.

I passed my 11 plus: does that qualify me?
It was 64 years ago though.

Opportunity to be head coach is the #1 reason assistant coaches part company with head coaches.

At the practice today, he could be heard giving out the instructions. Under Ricki, he did and said little. Luci Trana took the training. Under Ernie, he was pretty quiet. Ufuk is a real, get involved coach. I like that, he leave you in no doubt. Oh and he still has the ball skills.

Yep, he says no discussions have occurred but then said (when asked how it would work) "we'll find out" then corrects himself so it's clear he's thinking about applying.

I don't know what WelNix would think, I guess if there wasn't much overlap, but IIRC they weren't keen on doing it again after Herbert.

I actually don't hate the idea of him doing both jobs. He will have a great insight into the Nix based players, it may benefit the nix and all whites having a similar playing style. I don't actually think it was bad having Ricki doing both.

A 27/28 year old Josh Laws would actually be an awesome player to convert and cap if he was keen. All Whites could certainly do with more CBs.

If this is the case - Welnix need to swallow any pride/hard feelings to do with NZF and let Uffie do both jobs if he wants to. He's earned that license and has a good coaching team around him.
