Sydney FC Axe CEO Dirk Melton
Mar 5 2012 15:54

SYDNEY FC have been plunged into yet another crisis with the sudden decision to sack CEO Dirk Melton in a row over his alleged management style after complaints from club employees

A statement from the club today read: "The board of Sydney Football Club Pty Limited has today announced that Sydney FC has terminated, effective immediately, the employment of Dirk Melton, its Chief Executive Officer.

"The unanimous decision of the board follows a number of formal complaints of a serious nature by employees which were investigated and revealed behaviour in Mr Melton's management of staff which was completely unacceptable.

"The board acknowledges that, during his period as Chief Executive Officer, Mr Melton brought enthusiasm and passion to the role and had set on a path to achieve the strategic long term goals of the club.

"However, the board determined that Mr Melton's behaviour towards staff was inconsistent with his obligations and could not be tolerated by the board, and as a consequence the club could not continue with him as Chief Executive Officer.

"Stefan Kamasz will undertake the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer, until the board makes a decision as to Mr Melton's replacement."

Got to love the A-League. It's the first day in a long time that Palmer Drama hasn't been in the headlines, and then this happens...
Article is gone now.
Sydney FC has today agreed to a one-year loan deal that will see midfielder Nick Carle join United Arab Emirates club Baniyas Sports Club.

That will be a big payday for him, he will be back for the 2013/14 season.

Sydney fans raging on facebook over Nicky Carle. I love dishing out the shit when something like this goes down

Will be interesting to see how Sydney reacts to this, it creates a bit of an opportunity for them. They are getting a 6 figure loan fee and it opens up a marquee spot. They had a import slot available after they released Hiro a couple weeks ago. They could blow the loan fee on getting a top player in as a replacement.

SYDNEY FC will sell lifestyle and legacy as reasons why Italian superstar Alessandro Del Piero should swap Turin for Sydney – and they’ll present their pitch in Italian at 6pm today.

Would be massive if Tony P could pull this off. Best part would be the fact we would get to see him here Rnd 1.

37 years old? Arf.  Manny or vince will go through him in round 1 and it will be all over.

Can't see it happening to be honest.

He played more games in Serie A last season than any A-League player last season.

Del Piero would light up the A-League. he would do so much better than Fowler did. Del Piero was a contant presence for Juventus last year at 36.

However, I think he will go to Sion or in the MSL.

I'd be surprised if Sydney can pull this off. But it'd be great for the league if they did.

He has turned down Sion's offer according to someone Tony P has retweeted. Even if it doesn't come off, its nice to see some ambition being shown by someone in the A-League.

Yeah Del Piero is not only a better player than Fowler to begin with but also so technical that aging won't affect him as much. Its not like his game was ever based on strength or pace to begin with. As you said, he was a regular for the Serie A champions last year so he's obviously not deteriorated too far! Would love to see him in the A League. He would get paid more in the MLS but maybe the Sydney lifestyle will win him over. I doubt he needs the money after all
