Why are they called the Bitumen?

Searched the entire thread and nobody mentioned the source of the nickname.

The Western United CEO when the name and club colours were announced;

Maurice Bisetto said: "We enjoyed the process of involving the community and what emerged was a great story of nature and infrastructure.

"The blacktop of the bitumen with the greenery of our suburbs. It seemed like a perfect combination.

That's actually a pretty easy answer - it's pretty much a one step process:

Is he wanted by Sydney FC or Melbourne, yes or no?

He’s had it rough re Marquees (here and there) but maybe in his head he’s still at SFC.

Like the Nix have the Fever Zone at home games for Yellow Fever - Some how at Western United WERE going to name the Fan Zone The Green Wedge, but prior to release of memberships the WU fan group got wind and complained.

But first game of the season YF need to erect a "The Green Wedge" Banner above the seating at the Northern end.

Would a huge laugh!

despite it all I have a feeling this team are going to be my second team this year (or maybe 3rd after Bayern) Dura's too much of a legend, Maxy put in some honest shifts for us and Rudan is just an epic character of Shakespearean proportions...

Wow doubt there will be to many Nix fans having them as their 2nd team.

Maybe not support, but certainly to follow with interest.

Still as Talay said on the pod, he wouldn't have kept Kurto or Burgess anyway.

And if Rudan was heavily responsible for bring Talay to the club, ain't all bad. Let it all go, move on.

Seems to be the approach of Dome and co, at least publicly. Still they asked FFA for WU as the first game, so they are aware of the marketing value of Judan and co returning to Westpac.

I've never going to let it go. Rudan is a snake (only partially serious) and its great to have a genuine rival !!

SERVICE CREW it is

Wow, naming yourself after a notorious hooligan gang of dirty L666ds is quite a statement. Are they going to try to out do the RBB in bringing Australian football fans into disrepute?

The ACFC active support have done the same thing. I didn't know Leeds hooligans were the source.

When you sell $1200 worth of merchandise to a single fan in your first ever match you know something tangible is happening.

Dunno what is more shocking, Hamill's poor touch on the second goal or the fact he just gave up. So strange seeing Dura in the #4 shirt.

Hard to gloat, not at all a first WU team. Kurto was about half our team last season!

Hamil Durante Gulum back three, that is probably their starting back three

Didn't look convincing in those highlights.
