I can't believe you just said that

I know.... but a certain member of yellow fever (BOP man) made me buy my pass so he could give it to his friends when his girlfriend would inevitably get bored and not want to come, but yesterday restored my faith...

Sounds like you guys picked a lot ..........Moss & Smeltz ...... maybe two of the best in the A-League with the GC / NT & next year and more than likely a second Melbourne team the season after which I guess will have a second Sydney team or gong then if not signed you may loose them.

And this was after you edited it?!?!

Yup that was a typical Brazilian style ending by the ref and linesman as well. AllWhitebelievr2008-09-29 17:37:25

I'm going to blame the beer. That would explain the bit that follows "Sydney" too. Onya.

one thing that I don't think has been mentioned is not only how pathetic the likes of Aloisi, Cole and Fyfe were for Sydney but the fact that with 30 minutes still remaining they bought Corica off, who had been their best player by a country mile. That shattered their creativity through the middle, hence the long ball employed when they went behind.
You know we belong together...

That's true: Aloisi is badly out of form, thank god. But I think it was our pressure that made them fall apart in the 2nd half. I honestly thought Bling were going to win by 3 of 4 after 20 minutes. By the end they had nothing -  it was one of the most complete turn-arounds I've seen involving the Phoenix since that amazing first game against Victory at the RoF last season.

Im glad u mentioned that.
I thought the game totally changed when Corica came off, and Sydney looked a shadow of what they were beforehand.

From the Dompost this morning
"Glen has a problem that will keep him out of action for maybe another week," Herbert said.
Could the problem be the way Paston played?

I thought that we were lucky to get away with the result.  In the first half we consistantly gave the ball away.  We put no presure on their back four when they had the ball, whereas when we had the ball their strikers were on top of us.  Apart from Smeltz goal we got done in the first half and was amazed that we came out at 1-1.

2nd half we did a bit better.  I thought that Sigmund did really well at the back beside Dodd - who may possibly be one of the dodgyest defenders on the ball in the league.  Everyone else was average as possesion was given away far to much.  Tim Brown was terrible up until he scored the goal and then he started to do a bit more.  We cant have two CM's in there who only play in a 'v' in the way they are facing.  It was very rare that we switched play.

However if we can play like that and beat the big teams we are in with a shot.

"And there was another fine team performance Herbert credited as key to the victory against Sydney the 12th man support of the Phoenixs fans. While Sundays 6729-strong crowd was far from the Phoenixs biggest, it was certainly one of the loudest, everyone cheering the team on to victory.

The crowd support was phenomenal. Theyre vocal and passionate people and they were in great form on Sunday. Everyone attached to the team was really thankful for what they did getting behind us and driving us all the way.

What was with all the constant references to "Sydneyside" in the commentary from both Fred and Harry?  They really are two bob commentators. Did it irritate anyone else?  Must have irritated the Aussies.  Pay back for calling us NZ all the time I suppose.

the supporters were awesome, right from the start and even when we went  a goal down, we maybe have had bigger crowds before, but none better. That ref cost me $150 when he disallowed the goal.          I was so happy with the end result, I thought I must be a teddy bear at a picnic. If every fan that was there on sunday brought a mate for the next game we'd get nearly 14,000, wishful thinking? Great heart from the fans and from the team, I thought backtracking had died out previously, it's not glamorous,it takes effort, but boy it works.

It was great to see more Sydney fans over for this game. Top effort by them for making the trip!!

My nephew & I were over in Aisle 10 and after the Nix took the lead we started up with "Your not singing any more" for the first time ever we've been able to use it!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Yes, but the Aussies don't refer to them that way on the commentary so why do our guys?  It's a bit like commentating on Man U and just calling them "Scum" all the time.

No different to calling the Nix the Wellingtonians
