Do you lend out your girlfriend/wife to single guys now and then on that basis too? Or is the Phoenix just like going to the cinema for you?

Sinz,we already knew about the away game. Surely the time for moaning (of which i did A LOT about it) has passed.

CHCH last year was pretty decent. I'm not a fan of the fact it costs a bit to go but its a fun weekend in which I will be attending.

itd ease the pain a little if we got a deal on flights or something.

Just responding to the dialogue generated by the implication that it's a good thing we're "only" losing one match this season.

It'd ease the pain if we got 19k each week here so there was no financial bebefit for the club in taking it to Cristchurch.

Ill be interested to see if they get 19k again now the novelty factor is gone.

As ive said,i understand if they need to make up a bit of cash somewhere. They should have just come out and said that last year,or at least not said that it was out of their control, followed by conflicting comments in the media later.

At least theyre a bit more honest this year in telling us that it is of their choosing to take it away.

You think that they expected 19k out of Chch when they decided to play there? Westpac WAS being re-laid, right? I'm pretty sure it wasn't an elaborate lie.valeo2010-05-18 14:19:11

Sigh. Im not even going to go there again. The pitch wasnt being relaid for both the games that were taken away. It would have been easy to swap a a fixture to have us playing away during ACDC.

Gutted I can't make the trip to Chch. The tales from this years trip sound legendary, very happy another trip to Palmy wont have to be contemplated!

Think ill skip Chch this year in favour of a 4 day double game trip to melbourne

Kind of wish that was later in the season so can have time to build up some cash

I wonder if they considered taking one of the midweek games down south instead of a weekend one? Itll get one of our worst crowds up here,be an annoyance for season ticket holders (some of which wont be able to make it)...while the theory in taking it down south will be the novelty factor

This is an aside from the year old debate of taking games away..so don't take it that way

That's one way of putting it, SiNZ.
Personally I like the "lend your car that's your pride and joy" comparison better.

You're not going to let every bugger drive it but those that show the same love and respect for it... and put a bit of "petrol in the tank" for the pleasure, so to speak..
 deserve one outing a season.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Anyone else notice this?

October 23rd at SFS

CCM v Perth 3.45pm
Sydney v Brisbane 6:00pm

That means that CCM and Perth are playing the curtain raiser?

Agreed - it's not like the game is going to Canberra or something. It's going to Chch - a place with a lot of fellow nix fans. (a few of which post on this forum regularly)

Must be a Kiwi thing then. Where I'm from the club-fan relationship is more "life partner" like. You give loyalty, you get loyalty. It might be different for Prem clubs, but football isn't just another entertainment choice and you don't give up usage of your partner to relieve some poor celibate's misery.

Canberra, Christchurch, Palmy or Singapore... All the same thing. Not Wellington.

Great to sew Tony's jack up of the draw to give him a paid week back home... it'd be rude if a few of us didn't join him

Fair call mate.
Respecting that a lot of totally committed WP fans couldn't make the "away" home games last season and were narked by that ...I have to say, quite sefishly.. me and Mrs RedGed had a ball in ChCh..it was the feeling of doing an away game trip, without needing the passport! Brilliant.

I'm all good with one game (just the one) being taken away each season and even happier that Christchurch got it again - not that we had much competition from any other place.  Wish it was Melbourne Heart or another team I haven't seen play in the flesh before but I'm still happy.

Btw, just a question about season tickets.  Last year they were $180 weren't they?  That's for 12 or 13 games.  Individual tickets for adults are $30?

I usually travel up for about 3 games a season plus there's the game in Christchurch so from those 4 games I'd be spending $120.  I might get a season ticket and hopefully I could travel up for an extra few games but even if I can't the club could just consider it as a donation or I could lend it to non-committed Wellingtonians who otherwise wouldn't go.

Just looking carefully at the draw with the two Melbourne games.... this 17 day period late November (see below)  will be a thorough workout for the Nix.    With playing last year's finalists, quick 3 or 4 day turn arounds, and the travel and flights to boot, it will test fitness and squad depth  imo.
Newcastle, home, home, sydney, home ..thankfully no Perth marathon away trip in that sequence of matches!

Week 15 - Saturday, 20 November 2010 Newcastle Jets vs. Wellington Phoenix EnergyAustralia Stadium 7:00pm 7:00pm
Midweek FIXTURE - Wednesday, 24 November 2010 Wellington Phoenix vs. Melbourne Heart Westpac Stadium 7:30pm 5:30pm
Week 16 - Saturday, 27 November 2010 Wellington Phoenix vs. Melbourne Victory Westpac Stadium 6:00pm 4:00pm
Midweek FIXTURE - Wednesday, 1 December 2010 Sydney FC vs. Wellington Phoenix Sydney Football Stadium 7:00pm 7:00pm
Week 17 - Sunday, 5 December 2010 Wellington Phoenix vs. Adelaide United Westpac Stadium 5:00pm 3:00pm RedGed2010-05-18 15:44:40

How many seasons do we need to be on bended knee, cap in hand, thank you for whatever you give us guvnor then? At what point do we get a normal club relationship?

TonyP, I have people wanting to become new members, so please announce membership sales ASAP.

And all the talk about 19K at a home game, just need the crowds back from Season One. Regular 15K crowd will do just nicely for now.

Depends if the marketing effort is a bit more coordinated at people who aren't already members

Advertise more at normal people, not football tragics like News :P

Individually? Or collectively? Sensibly, it must be the latter. And is the one game in ChCh making that big a difference to the bottom line. If it is, if we're that fragile, then we're pretty close to the edge at all times....

Oh well, no point in arguing about it. What it does do, as it did last year, is make me question whether I want to bother with a season ticket. Ultimately, if the club are going to pick and choose the matches they are offering me they have no right to expect me not to do the same.

Giving up your season ticket because one game has been moved?

I wonder if CCM fans do that when their games get moved to Canberra or Adelaide fans when their games get moved away from Hindmarsh.valeo2010-05-18 16:06:46

Normally if I can't make a few games in a season, I'd still get a season ticket. This coming season I have some games that clash and I will most likely miss. Normally I'd get a season ticket anyway, as I did back home for my club - it's about showing that support after all to your club. The Nix don't generate that same feeling of ownership when they willingly cheat on me!
