Huh? So the roar are playing an away game in NZ? That would be good, but confusing.
Or am I completely up the wrong tree here?

I'm definitely coming down for mini-Judas. And Lochhead. And I hate Sydney, so that one too. This could (once again) get expensive.

Can we call him Judas Juinor? I think it has a nice ring to it.

Will do that one, want to be there for it and there are normally cheap flights going in Oct/ Nov because most people aren't traveling in that too close but kinda too far from Xmas period.
I'd love to do 12 pubs but that weekend will be very expensive to travel as people are moving about for the holidays then.

Small print on the draw on the Phoenix website says the regional game is an FFA one so memberships/season passes won't apply - I assume we'd get preferential booking, same as for play-offs?

That makes me even more convinced it won't be in NZ.

Tasmania?

Sorry, my mistake. The published calander lists 3 TBC's for the nix, but one is "away":

Sunday, December 4 (away) v Melbourne Heart, TBC

I.e, we're playing somewhere in OZ, Away, for the heart, who are home but really away.

Thanks for making this all so straightforward, FFA!

Midweek away? That's gonna kill traveling support. This effectively not only removes a match from Wellington, but largely prevents Wellingtonians from attending. All midweeks should be at home IMHO.

It could also unfairly skew attendance. If we're to have a match in Auckland, I'd rather it be given the chance to succeed, including as an audition for regular consideration a la Christchurch. A midweek match in Auckland would likely fail and could lead to it being written off.  A weekend match in Auckland may succeed and open up opportunity for a regular, Christchurch-like arrangement.

too many Sunday home games for my liking, would prefer a few more Saturday night games - good for away travellers.
Honestly cannot see cHCH being ready for a game but a game in the new Dunedin Stadium would be brilliant

Sundays do suck. But I prefer them over Saturday nights.

Am being lazy here.

Are there any double header games for the phoenix? Like one on the weekend and then one during the week both at home.

Was there any substance to this claim? I haven't detected any new concepts (apart from the regional games that were announced some time ago).

Fixtures are now up on the club website.

The novel concept is having lots of midweek games on 4 January.

"Phoenix till they lose"

I quite like the idea of a whole day of football. Especially over the holiday period

Gonna have to take those days off or something...

Reconsidering membership now. sh*t.

And theres also a few 4pm starts in there.
Speaking to a few young lads at training last night and it appears a number that work in retail have a Sunday shift (keeps their Saturdays free to play) that finishes at 5pm. Like you they ae also not happy. I'm guessing they chose those times (4 and 4.30) to cater for families.

Yeah, I'm losing a lot of work because of Sunday games too. So each Sunday game costs me a lot of money effectively. But worth it and can't really afford to think that way in life!Tegal2011-06-01 08:53:43

I see the DomPost has A-League boss Lyall Gorman quoted as saying:

"They're looking at running a membership model around 11 home games [in Wellington] this year," said Gorman, who hoped the TBCs would be confirmed within a fortnight.

"Obviously there's sensitivities around Christchurch and its availability, so that has meant to rush to a decision in that regard is not as simple as you would think.

"So I'd be fairly confident that one of the games will be played in Christchurch in February and then another one will come out of that potpourri of Auckland, Dunedin and others.

"There's a lot of other parts of New Zealand that are really keen to host a Wellington fixture, which I think is great for the brand. But there's just a little bit more work to do in that regard."

Does this mean another of the games, currently assigned to Wellington, is going to be moved? Or is the DomPost today using old quotes that were superseded by yesterday's release of the fixtures?

"They're looking at running a membership model around 11 home games [in Wellington] this year,"

There we go doom post, pounce on that by emphasising "This year", making it look like there won't be 11 games in wellington next year, then go on to further imply that to mean the team will be playing in Auckland next year.

You're welcome for the story. No, I don't want a job.

Hamilton in South AuckWood is a good option.

It's a better option than Auckland

If it is 3, I'd very much like to see the 3rd go to Hamilton, even though Tauranga would be brilliant for me. Given the fantastic turnout against the Roar, Hamilton deserves a regular season match. Dunedin and Tauranga could be good options for pre-season, given that BayPark and Carisbrook won't be tied up by the rugby.

12 announced but 11 possible. If Christchurch gets a match, which the club seems especially keen on, it'd either be 11 or one of the currently announced "TBC" matches gets given back to Wellington.
