Thats a bit of a cop out. The one FFA are 'taking' still counts. As they don't have to take the third away (if they do), so it is their choice still to take 3 away.

Not what I meant. Intention was "if we're gonna take it out of Wellington anyway, Hamilton should be seriously considered".

Trust me, I'd love to keep all matches here, especially after last year's incident.

I sort of knew what you meant, but felt it needed pointing out that the allocation of fixtures is a zero-sum game. For any other city to be rewarded, it means penalising Wellington.

So we are going to be asked to stay loyal and buy a season pass and for that we will be rewarded with only 11 home games and 3 away home games.Oh and while your at it how about forking out for our new srip as well.

I am not happy.
 
Am I paying for 11 games or 14 games? If i am being charged 14 games for my ST, I will be expecting a refund on the three I miss out on. I expect ST's this season to be a lot cheaper to reflect this.
 
Just when the club need the hard core to stick with them, this stunt gets pulled?? When will they learn, Aucklanders in general dont give a flying sh*t about football. If they did, the Knightz etc woul still be running.
 
Ok, there's a few fans on here from Auckland whom have stayed keen and loyal to the round ball game, but sadly bums on seats suggest that the majoirty up there just dont give a sh*t. And I am referring to those whom play or support football on a Saturday or sunday up there.
 
The CHCH games have always been well supported and I feel that a game down there if there is a ground capable of staging the game, might be a good moral booster considering what they have been through.
 
To stage a 3rd game somewhere else is just taking the piss. are we the Wellington Phoenix, New Zealand Phoenix? WTF ? Are they trying to expand the brand or kill the brand.
 
Next season I think I might go watch Man U play Chelsea in Liverpool in an EPL game. This is something you just dont do.
 
The Ring of Dirt was a failure, lessons should have been learned. If we have to play a game away in CHCH, I will live with that. But dont ask me to subsidise THREE games on my ST.
 
If you want more fans at westpac, drop the prices, improve the prematch & halftime entertainment. Turn that f**ken prematch music OFF and improve the friggen food & drink prices and finally dop the friggen car park prices down form $30 to $10.
 
And before you blame the Westpac Trust, start getting on their case about it, not tolerate it. Are we here to support the train service or are we here to encourage fans, neutrals to a game at the stadium?? Where are our priorities??
 
Lastly, us fans have had 4 years of where we should have been bringing alone others to get them to start showing up. Most of us have done our bit. But why are we losing so many? We've made the finals two years running. We're not a complete embarrassment, so why are we still having attendances dropping? Midweek games? Bad kick off times? Perhaps our games should all be at 3pm - 1pm Aussie time. Then TV, families etc can all be happy and probably home in time to catch the next game. I dont think Midweek games are going to work for the A League in general and I am surprised they are persisting with the experiment.

We'll have to wait until they announce the prices but I strongly suspect the pricing will be based on games in Wellington only and with a discount. Possibly there might be free entrance to the away-home games as they did last season.

err last year we paid for all our games in NZ in the ST price, Whoopie, we got in "free" in CHCH but then we still paid for travel and accommodation which was a tad more than $30 at the gate. Lonegunmen2011-06-01 16:37:04

No you didn't. Any game away from westpac,it doesn't make sense to include in the season ticket price.

It was your choice to go to Christchurch,just as much as it'd be your choice to go to a game in Australia.

Perhaps the accounting student in me is coming out here,but your method of calculation is off.

Last year a season pass (in FZ) cost $295. For the 13 Wellington games that is $22.70 a game which is pretty good. What were gate tickets? $30 plus transaction fee?
Free entry to the Christchurch game was a bonus and I would prefer they kept giving that bonus in case I can make one (or more) of those games.

LGs argument would make sense if flights and accommodation were compulsory in buying a season ticket. You can't go on a trip by choice,and add the costs of it to the ST.

If anything LG you got better value for your money than the rest of us,by getting a free game.

Not sure how you can say when they wernt included last year.If you decided to go to the home away games you got free ticket.That suggests it was included in the pricing.

Check out what the guys from the Den get for the money they pay.

Loyalty is a two way street and i sure hope the Phoenix show some of it to those that have stuck by them and had to edure this off season of crap.

The encouragement to get a ST is that you get into games cheaper. Those with St's had to go to Ticketec to get their CHCH ticket by using their ST number, hence the ticket came off your ST. You did pay for it.
 
Are we the Wellington Phoenix or a travelling wilbury? If the Nix get 14 home games in the draw, then 14 home games it should be. not 11, not 12 but 14. If the Nix want to play pre season around the country, then go for it. If other centers want to see aprofessional team, feel free to apply to the FFA. I can see a team in CHCH being successful so long as the earthquakes stop. There is definately a market down there that would have a minimum 8-9k base to work from.
 
As for gate sales, perhaps the high price is what is keeping casuals away. Last season there were a few getting in for $20 from various dubious sources which the Security were on to. Why should people whom pay up front and honestly, have to subsidise them? On a broader note, if all A League attendences are down, then perhaps the ticket prices are a contributing factor.

Did you not realise there has been a recession, this affects spending (therefore attendace's) especialy for families.
Waste of time targeting families, you are better off targeting singles/couples pre children and empty nesters as they are the ones with the money to spend on a regular basis.

I always looked on the ONE away game in the last couple of seasons as a 'bonus'.  i.e. Not a given that we would go to them (thanks Bon frickin Jovi).
 
I will NOT be happy if there will be 3 home games away from RoF.  Two I can grudgingly accept in part if these are revenue gathering exercises (don't try and dress it up as sharing the love) and also as one of them is FFA imposed (regional).
 
Regardless of what the season ticket price will be I would like the club to know that 3 games away is not appreciated by this supporter.

It doesn't suggest that at all. Pricing was done by adding the gate cost of 13 games and then applying a discount (I think it was 25%). The Christchurch game was then also added, people who did make the effort to go down and support the team got a small bonus.
 
Rather than say "Check out what the guys from the Den get for the money they pay", why don't you tell us rather than making us hunt for it.

Yeah thats fine trying to target them,but does seem that there are cross purposes at work.The FFA want clubs to take a game away and the club wants to take a couple of games away as well to attract a bigger fan base. So they do that and build a bigger fan base then make it bloody hard for out of town fans to attend by scheduling a heap of Sunday games.

Im just hoping that with the season starting later we may get some better weather and that may help with crowds as well.

I feel the point about the car park is fair though. $30 seems an absolute rort, I would never even consider it when you can easily get one on the street pretty close by for free. However for a family when it's raining, having a reasonable parking price may mean the difference bewteen them coming in or not. The stadium should also build a cover on the concourse from the carpark entrance to the stadium entrance so staying dry is an option.

OK - I am prepared to compromise.
 
The Nix/FFA can mitigate some of my emotional anguish if they chose to take 3 games away by throwing in my membership package:
 
A season pin
A plastic pass holder with yellow landyard
A fridge magnet
A life-size cardboard cut out of a Nix player/coaching staff with movable limbs
A yellow and black vuvzela

PS - if only 2 games are taken away then just provide the first three items (we actually already have some vuvuzelas).

I can handle one game being moved but how about next season, yeah the season after this one a stadium approaches another team and if they badly want a game they can use one of the aussie teams home games rather than ours.  Ala Warriors.

Not everyone is in a position where they can as you say make the effort to go to the away home games. Many of us would love to have done but financal and work commitments for many dont make that an option.

Not all of us on these forums are up to speed with how make life super easy so some good old fashioned looking wouldnt hurt.

I notice the regional game isn't included in that,just saying.

LG,would you prefer they didn't offer you the chch game? Because under your ridiculous criteria,if they don't offer you that ticket,then you have nothing to moan about.

Adjusted for exchange rate that comes to around NZ$330. Are you really not only prepared, but excited about paying an extra $30 for what seems quite a lot of crap and lose discount at store and free away game? 
 
The free entry into the W league games and reserve team games is pretty cool, we don't have those so can't offer it. "The Free QR Train and BT Bus Services only (conditions apply)" could be really good (and something like that would probably be needed in Auckland)  but I don't know how extensive and impressive this actually is. We are lucky enough with the stadium location that this isn't a major issue. Other than that we get the equivalent or its crap.

A lot of games are on Sunday,which means I lose a shift at work. Following the chch logic I should be getting angry at the Phoenix for losing me wages. But it's my choice,just like it's your choice to go to chch and pay the flights and accommodation.

As LG pointed out, buying the ST got you the (somewhat token gesture) of free entry into the ChCh game. Obviously that is a "cost of sale" for the ChCh game & ST revenues and as such the opportunity cost of potential lost ChCh revenue has been factored into the calculation of the overall ST price. Perhaps it is the fully qualified chartered accountant with a couple of decades of actual industry and commercial experience, as opposed to mere accounting student, in me coming out.

Last year for two mid week games there was $10 parking (for everyone) - very good idea and we took the car.

We don't use it when it costs $30.
