How did Boxall look playing in the midfield?

Harry Edge sent off? Did daddy throw a tanty this time or was he watching from the carpark?

Permalink Permalink

When will the Edge's learn that they can't talk to referees in the way that they do?

Has younger Harry been sent off for this before... or are we simply saying he's his old mans reincarnation?

To be honest, I don't mind seeing a youngster get sent off (so long as they learn from it) for verbals. Shows passion which is something you can't coach in to a player.

Saying that if this is "normal" behaviour he needs to stop being a twat.

When does young Harry head off to Holland?

Leggy and Feverish may back me up on this but young kids gobbing off is stupid especially at people that are older or have been in the game longer. How old is Harry... 20? How can you chip players or officials that are older and have potentially been in the game longer? Its also a case of 'and what have you done'. I can't imagine anyone trying to chip Ivan Vicelich cause look how long he has been in the game and what he has done. That's a punk attitude if you tried it and that's why Harry Edge strikes me as - a punk.

I understand what you're trying to say, but by extension would that mean that players who are older have rights to chip away at younger players or referees who haven't been involved in the game for as long?

I think we started with a diamond midfield, Rufer at the point with Kenny and Brocks in front. Gorrin & Ridenton as the CMs on either side of diamond. Riera as deepest
Midfielder.

Fenton was honking first half IMO. Boxall and JBS both looked more confident.

Rufer was probably not much better. Passing wasn't great and Ernie seemed to be yelling at him a lot and telling him to track their DM.

Gorrin looks decent. Visibly annoyed with Fenton not pushing forward much. But he's got a good engine, good passing range and good chatter for a new guy.

Boyd with two goals helping to prove his haters wrong. One point Dura was yelling at him because he was coming too deep to pick up the ball so he swiftly layed it off, sprinted to the other end and tapped in Krishna's pass.

Overall a good hitout. Freezing cold.

My highlight was Brockie yelling at Kenny for being offside "you gotta be aware of that shit Kenny". Coming from the guy who is offside more than he is on.

Can anyone confirm the rumour that Wee Mac was somewhere on the sidelines?

On reflection with the starting line up this is pretty much right, Gorrin was certainly playing  far more centrally than wide so was a pretty narrow diamond. He was a little shakey to start and gave the ball away a couple of times but looks decent with a big motor. I can see him and Riera forming a really solid pairing. No sign of Lia last night?

Riera is really class and gets about his work with little fuss and does the simple stuff really well. We certainly looked less composed at times in the second half when we were not there.

Kenny's offsides were terrible. He was the widest man and 4 times he was caught. Why someone with so much pace feels the need to play so close to the offside line is beyond me.

As you say, a good hitout, but it does highlight that we really need McGlinchey or the like in a creative role as it is an area we were shown to be lacking.

Miramar provided a sterner challenge than thee score indicated and created a couple of good chances.

It will be a tough night at the office next week for Upper Hutt.

EDIT: Who was the dark kid who came on in the second half and played in midfield? Certainly did not disgrace himself.

Just looked at his twitter and in May he said he was back in NZ and someone said good luck in China. Could be he was going on Holliday to China in the Portuguese off season or was trialling over there. Still listed on the SC Braga site though.

You'd think he would be back over in Portugal preparing for the next season? Is he still under 19?
