Fitness not there yet.

what better way is there to get fitness?

I don't really buy that. unless he is coming back from injury, these games are to help the players gain fitness.

Although he has spent time in Glasgow in the  off season eating deep fried Mars Bars.

NUFC_nz managed to get this pic of Wee Mac in the showers after training from his source.

Actually that's Ginger Eejit. Easy mistake to make though.

Believe they have trained today already so it's about improving fitness.

Phoenix formation:

                                 Not a Striker

Not a Striker - Not a Striker - Not a Striker - Not a Striker

          Not a Striker - Not a Striker - Not a Striker

          Not a Striker - Not a Striker - Not a Striker

Didn't sound that impressive.  So far we don't seem to have replaced Steyn

Yeah, Ernie found a striker, it just happened to be that his name started with B and ends with Rocky. Gilly assured me that it was the easiest signing ever.

Maybe Shola is coming out with his bruv Sammy?

We need a Geordie to cancel out the Mackem.

Except Ernie assures us we have completed our search for a striker.

We certainly have quantity in that area, no quality though.

If this is it (including McGlinchey) we'll be bottom 3 for sure.  As of now we're probably weaker than last year

personally i find it reassuring that local sides are so close to the phoenix in terms of ability.  i'm not taking the piss BTW...

most european teams are busy beating local amateur sides by 10-15 goals right now

Sounds like they are training during the day and then playing at night. Ernie did that a few times last season, so they would get used to playing tired.

New banner for the Nix....Jesus saves but Watson nets the rebound.....ok, it's an update from the Manure one with Pearson back in the 76 cup final but hey, look at the time of the night I am typing this!

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

oh yeah, absolutely - they are definitely getting a good, hard pre season

i wasn't beating up on the phoenix for not beating local teams by 10-15 goals btw - it was a compliment to the standard of our local footy that no one gets spanked

How did Doyle perform on the pitch? He looked a good prospect in the Upper Hutt game.

As well as they are not 1/2 filling the team with local amateur talent.

Doyle looks good. Better than any other option I've seen at left back.

Played second half at RB at Upper Hutt, with Manny switching to the left. Caira didnt even get off the bench that night.
