Get Marco back while we're at it.

I don't think Kosta would fix our issues, but he's a better Burns replacement than Jeff!

Won't fix anything but the beauty is that it's not a foreign spot, so we can get a foreign striker or CB.

How reliable is that podcast? They also say our license has been extended.

So if Koasta becomes our domestic marquee what happens to WeeMac?

Why does one of the most exciting A- league players don't fix ANYTHING? Not sure about the stats for this season, but he most have quit a few assists and goals. He is in a really good age, still young and from Wellington. He ticks ALL the boxes.

Our issue isn't creating chances our issue is finishing, and while Kosta can finish he still isn't the 10+ goal scorer that we need.

Continues playing for the 'Nix, under the cap as always?

No such thing as a domestic marquee anymore, a team can have two marquees of any nationality.

The rumour has been floating around for a few weeks. Believability factor 9/10.

Yeah the rumor has been floating around, I was just wondering about them saying that we have the extension.

I think the club is trying/tried. Last I heard Marco wasn't ready to come home just yet.

Hopefully WeeMac gets the f' out of the forward line and moves to partner Roly.

Maybe he could take some heat off our main man and create chances more than butcher them.

With WeeMac, Krishna, Kosta and Marco it would be a pretty great front 4 and probably the shortest in HAL history.

Not convinced at all that Roly and Weemac are a good fit together.

A Kosta/Marco return would be too good to be true. Just one would give us much more sharp at the pointy end.

Maybe then we could concentrate on acquiring a couple of athletic and skilled CBs and move our long servicing out to pasture

Well Weemac and Roly are midfielders. That's were they should be.

Can't say there has been a lot of time for making that call on The Roly/Mac midfield combo.

Really if Weemac can't play in midfield with Roly ( we need someone with him) he needs to move on.

Was it Ernie who signed Kosta for the Victory or was it Ange?

lol no doubt the shortest. Here comes massive amounts of long ball and crossing training, ;)

Ange, Kosta was signed by Ange to the Roar and then to the Victory. Ernie signed Marco to the Victory.

Cheers. Definitely an Ernie-type player though!

Then Ernie got sacked and never had a chance to coach Marco.

Hopefully this is true would be a great edition to the squad, I still think (as probably do most people) we need a full on striker, most likely would have to come in as a foreigner demanding marquee status to give us what we want. While we have a foreign spot (Yay) I worry about Marquee status as surely Roly would be close to demanding that now.

The only other solution I can see working is selling Roly dropping weemac back into the mid and getting a striker, which would be soul crushing to see Roly go.

Roly wants to go anyway [onto bigger things] so that might not be too bas a scenario.

On the way we play, I would go for the best FBs we can find - two Adama Traore's for either side and a ball playing GK - Moss's hoofs up field don't help, we can't stretch play or maintain possession to our full potential (on the weekend he miscued one terribly when under little pressure, had time to take a touch, make a cup of tea and play an accurate pass)

Scored 11 for the Roar a few years ago, and he's arguably a much better player now - playing a different role for the Victory but no reason why he won't be a 10+ goal scorer in a striking role.

I would expect Roly to go and perhaps A-Rod also.

Roly will want to go onto bigger and better things - especially after a disaster of a season like this - and i'm not sure A-Rod is worth an import spot at this stage.

However, we have put two years into A-Rod's development and I'd expect him to get better as time goes on, so we may want to hold onto him. I think he's a good player, but needs a lot of support around him.

Developing Rodríguez into Riera's replacement is worthwhile I think. With Riera and Lia getting on and no young Kiwis coming through who appear well suited to a deep midfield role (except maybe Rufer), putting time into Rodriguez who does have the tools for that position is probably the best succession plan available, and would avoid the scenario we've got at CB now.

You know we belong together...

ARod is a good link player, generally pretty accurate in possession and tries to be an option - not overly destructive without the ball and creative with the ball.

If this is true then I think that one of the most important things he will bring to the club is experience playing in title-winning sides. He knows what it takes to win the comp and that alone will be valuable to the squad.

Fingers crossed although its  kind of a double edged sword if he proves himself to be a good consistent goal scorer this season then he will most likely head home after the loan,  if he doesn't turn into that then realistically we need to keep searching for that 15+ goal scorer we need to make a true push.

Everything I've seen from Roly was that he was loving it here with the freedom he gets outside of europe and the pace of the game, that was admittedly before the season derailed. But didn't he say something like he wants to stay here until we win it? Unless someone here with inside knowledge from the team or is friends with him knows better there hasn't been any indication that he wants to move on.

If we sell him it's not the end of the world as WeeMac tends to play better when Rolly isn't around, but I hope we get a pretty penny.

Marco needs to come home, I don't think his european tour has really worked out as it could have. Kosta coming back would make for a nice attacking pairing of him and Krishna. All be it a short attack but potent on the floor so to speak.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
