Jaysus. So when is he likely to be able to play?

If they aren't able to get an exemption from FIFA, never (unless he stays around for next season, then next season is the answer).

Maybe never, Nix are apparently appealing to FIFA but if they don't give him clearance he will return to England.

Obviously checking the fax machine isn't a key metric at NZF

Hawke’s Bay United striker and former Phoenix Football School of Excellence player Hamish Watson has joined the Hyundai A-League club as an injury replacement for Roy Krishna.

Since leaving the FSE Watson made two appearances for the Phoenix and has played in England with Grimsby Town and Gainsborough Trinity before returning to New Zealand and joining Hawke’s Bay where he has been in fine form,

Phoenix General Manager David Dome said his club was grateful to Hawke’s Bay United for allowing Watson to make the move

Pisstake surely.  Club literally trolling the fans now - how low can we get and people will still pay to watch?

Amateur hour seems to be lasting all season. This debacle will only discourage other promising footballers from overseas from giving it a go here

Maybe the FAX machine run out of paper. They must get tons of those player clearances every day. And Phoenix not calling them, double checking if they get the papers?

ffs. Do they never learn?

I actually don't hold the likes of Smith and Reid not wanting to play for us against them anymore because of the incompetence and amateur nature of the organisation. I'm surprised that Moss didn't just say fudge you after the fax machine issue. I'm surprised that players bother to turn up after the eligibility issues. It's just a mess, and that is odd because different issues has happened under different regimes. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Dear Lord. Just when you think that NZF has reached the bottom of the incompetence barrel, they show you that they can go even lower.

It's actually quite a unique skill.

While yes everyone seems ready to blame NZ football shouldn't some of the blame lay with the Phoenix also. You would think they would be on their case making sure things are moving. It's not as if there isn't a history of screw ups.

With the bunch of fudgetards running football in this country ( NZF  , and it appears Phoenix at some level) , is it a surprise that FFA is holding back on exerting a licence? Do we actually deserve one?

Permalink Permalink

Why did the Phoenix submit the paperwork on a Saturday? Surely they knew for a week that Alex was coming. Does he have to be in the country before he is cleared? Also the fact that its a loan and not a transfer isn't taken into account?

Just put Jones on the pitch in Watson's shirt and put Watson's name on the team sheet. Simple solution really

This went down the weekend before last.  Not Waitangi weekend, Auckland Anniversary weekend.

Based on that timeline they put the forms in two days before we knew anything about it so I suspect as soon as they had it confirmed.

So we have Logan Rogerson on the books but we are starting Stevens and signed Watson. What?

From everything i've heard, Rogerson isn't ready yet.

Also, was really looking forward to Jones playing this weekend. What a complete f*ckup. I feel really sorry for him.

Looks like he won't get on the pitch for us.

When will NZF be held accountable? Sack the lot of them.

The problem is that after you do that, the new lot invariably turns out to be even more incompetent.

It's the kind of thing that almost makes you wanna become a rugby fan.

Maybe we should put together some applications and just send them into them. I feel like my basic organisational abilities and double checking/putting into my calendar of dates would probably surpass anything they have got there currently.

I think if we just got a bunch of random people off this forum, they would do a better job. At least they will give a sh*t.

Have to relocate to Auckland though? Move NZF down here and I'm in.

Ok I have only seen about 30 mins of him.

If this is the case, why sign him to pro papers then? Why not offer that to Joel Stevens, whom seems to have the goods, and leave Rogerson in the Weenix off contract (ala Blake and Dimairo)?

I just find it odd that the Phoenix sign a player that is not up to it and the player that it, is playing more and they probably shoulda signed.

Of course they're going to say that. Perhaps getting them on full deals was what was needed to keep two of the more promising players at the club.

You know we belong together...
